Wine Guy: “imagine drinking your favorite wine.. on the go.. in a single glass serving……. But only if it’s MY wine that’s your favorite.” SMH…. Losing millions!
100% agree. That dude was right. He had a monopolized product. Selling licensing rights to the packaging would have gotten him pennies on the dollar. Meanwhile they are saying they can turn it into 10X the return yet arguing the valuation is too low.

He called the Samuel Adams founder who would’ve given him the money if he believed in it. He only came on the show for publicity, he tried to look smart but ended up looking like an arrogant fool.

If you really think about it, his brand works because of the patent. I don't think his brand would have had that increase in sales if the conveniency of it was available elsewhere. So by selling the patent, he would be dealing a considerable blow to Copa de Vino. So I can see where he came from. But refusing a deal with 3 sharks in partnership? That was wild.

Just so everyone is clear, Kevin is completely wrong about Copa’s business. He tried to take Zip’s wine and make it into a packaging company (exactly what Kevin wanted) and it failed. Meanwhile, Copa was acquired for 6m. This guy had the right idea all along. If he were to have separated the IP from the business, any stakeholders in the IP business would have a conflict of interest with stakeholders in the copa business. Damon said “I made some money off of hoods” 😂😂
That wino was so annoying. He ended up selling his business. His idea was novel, but now there’s several similar cups of wine available that are much cheaper and taste better. His brand of wine never received good reviews. I believe someone called it “stale look-aid”. He sold it for $5.9 million, which is good, but he could’ve made tens of millions if he’d partnered with the sharks. He called the Samuel Adams founder who would’ve given him the money if he believed in it. He only came on the show for publicity, he tried to look smart but ended up looking like an arrogant fool.
Something unsurprising to see happen when you consider he runs a winery and that this seems more of a passion project over a true profit focus. He just doesn’t grasp that the desires of both sides were polar opposites
What a fool, he’s a multi-millionaire who did it without them

the Copa de vino deals was literally a dream come true,, that 51% for 600k deal was crazy good and he got it TWICE. so many times the sharks offer a deal I'd JUMP on and that one was one I didn't think ANYONE would hesitate to take. hey.. maybe I'm not knowledgable enough 🤷🏻♂️ but nothing TWICE?? c'moooon
You worth?
U don't get it if the IP is that crazy why give it at 51 and not 50 50

10:25 “ you sexist witch!” I love Kevin lol
Just so everyone is clear, Kevin is completely wrong about Copa’s business. He tried to take Zip’s wine and make it into a packaging company (exactly what Kevin wanted) and it failed. Meanwhile, Copa was acquired for 6m. This guy had the right idea all along. If he were to have separated the IP from the business, any stakeholders in the IP business would have a conflict of interest with stakeholders in the copa business. By selling the packaging to other wineries, copa loses what differentiates it from every other wine on the shelf.
The wine company was worth Peanuts compared to what he would have made licensing out the packaging to major brands. It's the difference between starting a small niche toothpaste brand and selling Crest and Colgate and every other major toothpaste brand in the world the rights to put their toothpaste in your tubes. You get paid for every tube they sell. He made 6 million when he could have made 60 million.
