Just the first thirty seconds brought back a rush of memories and emotions from my childhood! I'm sorry for, what probably seems like, over-reacting but these were Such Golden Times to me! God Bless You for showing these!!!
I agree with you, I was a kid and a TV buff, grew up watching all of this, the Golden Times were always the best, I've been through so much as an adult that I hate it, why did I ever have to grow up? +JAMESD5573
JAMESD5573 I'm feeling you James, it's so deep with me i actually have tears running down my face, just remembering fun times, my parents and grandparents were alive, having fun with close friends which alot of them are no longer here, I have much love for FredFlix going through all his hard work putting these awesome memories together for us. 👍💯❤
I cannot understand why ABC CBS NBC, don't bring these back exactly as they were even with the original ads. I can guarantee they would slaughter the rating if they did a one night a week return to 1970. Well bless RUclips for at least letting us get a few memories
I just pray they’re well preserved somewhere and one day somebody will have the brilliance to create a streaming service for them. I’d pay a lot to have quality access to them… esp the early 80s thrillers! I mean, I’d like to have them on DVD, but then I’d need an extra basement. 😂
I watched in the era and thanks for the upload to these..As memory lane moments are the best! So many good movies of the week and more during this time...Peace
Mr. Flix, thank you sir for taking the time to produce this stuff. The memories it brings back to me are priceless. As they say in the south pre shate cha.
blankets spread out on the carpet in front the tv . a big green Tupperware bowl of popcorn . mom and dad on the couch . lights off , and the tv movie on .
I do remember that promo for the TV movie "But I Don't Want to Get Married". Seeing it now I can't help but think " Seriously? People were expected to think women who look like Tina Louise and Shirley Jones would want to marry a man who looked like Herschel Bernardi? 😂
That first movie intro music in the beginning really stands out to me from the past. I think it comes from a song Burt Bacharach wrote called "Nikki". The memories. :)
The first time we saw DUEL starring Dennis Weaver , at the most exciting climax the local station went blank. WREX Rockford got so many irate phone calls that they pre-empted the 10 pm news that night to show the end of it. (It was an ABC Saturday night movie.)
Fun Fact, the TV show The Hulk had an episode called "Never Give a Trucker an Even Break" where they used tons of stock footage from Duel. Literally used movie footage in the TV show to put their story together. look it up, pretty funny.
Tuesday Movie of the Week intro was created by *Douglas Trumbull*. He did the special effects for 2001, Blade Runner, and Brainstorm. Everyone should have seen the similarities!
Back in the Seventies, just those introductory fanfare bits of music, and the way they rose to a crescendo, were enough to garner the attention, because you knew that there was going to be a fun or gripping film experience coming your way. Yeah, the movies were edited for content and for time, and there were a bunch of commercials--- but it was often the best of what was on teevee that evening. Fun to see these promotional reels!
Thanks great memories of being a kid in the 70's this was my network for watching movies 6:54 The Sunday and Friday night movie Theme from mid 70's until early 1982. That is my favorite theme or intro in ABC's movies love the music Great movies then Great video
VHS tape killed broadcast films. Before you could rent or own old movies, the only way you could see them were on network TV. It was great for the film owners, who could wring a little more money from a title, and the networks who could attract viewers with content that was less costly than new production. ABC was a bit different in that they added to the mix by paying to produce in- house films for its "Movie of the Week" series (many of which were very good despite their limited budgets.) It also didn't hurt that until the late seventies, the three networks had no real competition for viewers.
Another great one with lots of wonderful memories - too young to see many of the made for tv movies (though I did get to see Duel) except for The Over the Hill Gang movies. Can't see "Airport" without laughing at the jokes of "Airplane".
You may be thinking, so what, the movie of the week. Back in the '70s this was a real big deal. There were 3 networks and the whole country tuned in at the same time to watch these usually high quality films.
maybe ABC should go back to movies of the week , Bring back the abc sunday night movie they might get better rating Then all the show low rating they tried on sunday nights .
ABC became my favorite network because of the Movies of the Weeks and creating their own TV and movie stars. I wanted to be an actor as a teen and thought these intros where amazing. I would collect the intro and previews on cassette tape to listen to them later. Good times.
Each night ABC presents a James Bond film, the first thing you hear is a gravelly voiced announcer; "Tonight's feature contains scenes which maybe unsuitable for children. Parental discretion is advised".
Burt Reynolds' wig! Also, really hits you how here today-gone tomorrow is fame. Stars that we thought were lasting, and movies too (The Deep was supposed to be the next Jaws), and they just fade. Even someone like Paul Newman, who seemed a classic movie star, really has all but faded from today's memory, with the exception of Cool Hand Luke maybe.
I remember one of the movies ABC ran as a Movie Of The Week had to do with some sort of earthquake that ended up trapping a group of subway riders. The movie had to do with all of these people trying to escape further dangers, but everywhere they went, there was something blocking the way out to street level. I was maybe 6 and it scared the crap out of me! Generally, I recall we watched a LOT of these ABC movies.
I’m from Brooklyn New York and remember all these great 1970’s run titles from a time when network television was king....part of me will always miss the great graphics But as the movie buff I am now I don’t think that I could ever go back to watching epics like cleopatra and Ben Hur in square screen format with commercial interruptions.
wasn't there one called 'the black widow???' . . . and what's the one i remember where a voodoo coven was putting a curse on that woman sleeping in a bannister bed then all of a sudden a black python appeared under her bed & kills her?? i totally remember watching these as a child, and of course, "deep dark secret of harvest home," stepford wives, etc. the best was "stranger in my house," starring linda blair, bar none, where she plays a witch--i still love that movie!! . . .
Man do I miss those times, today’s overpriced streaming and cable monopoly can not compare to what we use to watch and enjoy for free ! Today ‘s programming are too political and woke . No cell phones no high tech , just simple entertainment with no bloody ugly shock value $$ garbage! Bring back some old fashioned shows 😅
I remember all of these promos for movies. One question though, what is it about 1970s movies that were shot in color and have now turned into nothing but browns and oranges?
ddoyle11 There's a video on RUclips of a concert of Bert Kaempfert orchestra in Germany from 1967, the premier of color tv in Europe, where the color is a fresh as it was when video taped.
If I remember what a film collector told me, It's a chemical reaction due to aging. The color stock fades if the film isn't properly stored. I'm not sure how long the color lasts even if it is properly stored, but I'm do believe it's just a breakdown as the film gets older.
Color fades out of film by chemical breakdown, but how does it fade out of video? I've even rented DVDs of 80s movies that have the kind of color loss you see in some of these videos. I'm old enough to remember when these movies were new, so I know they didn't look like that originally. Otherwise, great video.
Today you couldn't pull stuff off like this, because there aren't enough competent young actors to do roles like this on TV. ABC puts more stock in The Bachelor, showing game shows at night, and endless mindless reality shows. Even the late night talk shows are all garbage. Carson and Letterman will never be duplicated in popularity. There's no creativity in tv anymore. These types of entertainment will never come back.
I think it was more going into the 90s, as I can remember the first time I saw Aliens was on a CBS Sunday Night Movie in 89. I was only 5 at the time. I also remember the first time that I saw a bit of Poltergeist for the first time was on an ABC broadcast my mom was watching one night
I hope y’all will reply to this I’d like to have Airport will I like it?????….it’s one of Dean Martin’s movies I haven’t seen and I love Dean Martin…..I’d like Saturday night Fever huh?????!!!…I like the songs that were in the film disco 🕺
Just the first thirty seconds brought back a rush of memories and emotions from my childhood! I'm sorry for, what probably seems like, over-reacting but these were Such Golden Times to me! God Bless You for showing these!!!
I think a lot of reaction comes from the music.TV doesn't produce music like this anymore.
Amen!!! Thank You for the response!
I agree with you, I was a kid and a TV buff, grew up watching all of this, the Golden Times were always the best, I've been through so much as an adult that I hate it, why did I ever have to grow up? +JAMESD5573
you nailed it ;) +FredFlix
JAMESD5573 I'm feeling you James, it's so deep with me i actually have tears running down my face, just remembering fun times, my parents and grandparents were alive, having fun with close friends which alot of them are no longer here, I have much love for FredFlix going through all his hard work putting these awesome memories together for us. 👍💯❤

Thanks for posting this, RUclips is the next best thing to a time machine.
I watched in the era and thanks for the upload to these..As memory lane moments are the best! So many good movies of the week and more during this time...Peace
Burt Bacharach wrote Nikki, this song used for the ABC MOWs, but was named after His daughter who had Autism. Angie Dickinson was her Mother.
Just brought back my childhood I remember this beautiful music and the good movies not like today family orientated thanks for those memories
Great intros. I remember a lot of these lost gems. The best character actors ever. Thanks.
Mr. Flix, thank you sir for taking the time to produce this stuff. The memories it brings back to me are priceless. As they say in the south pre shate cha.
Glad do to it, Styx Fan, although I'm from the south but I don't know what pre shate cha means.
Back when tv actually had something good to watch and a family gathered together and watched✌️
Damn! I really enjoyed that. ABC movie promos have such a warm look and sound. The songs are truly amazing.
Best memories watching these awesome movie drops!
ABC needs to resurrect these . Total agreement with Golden Age of TV!!
God Bless all!
Damn! I miss these times. Couldn’t wait to get in front of the tv, for these movies as kid.
Thanks for this post great memories when mom was alive i miss those days
That's why I'm here.
I'm with you, I miss those days too. I lost Mom 3 and a half years ago myself. I was born in 1966.
i lost mines in 05 I was born in 1962
Thanks again
blankets spread out on the carpet in front the tv . a big green Tupperware bowl of popcorn . mom and dad on the couch . lights off , and the tv movie on .
The first movie promo in this clip I remember was used when 'Dracula' staring Jack Palance was shown on a Friday night 👍
Você não deve achar! A música se chama Nikki, filha dele, e foi escrita por ele com letra de Hal David.
The first time we saw DUEL starring Dennis Weaver , at the most exciting climax the local station went blank. WREX Rockford got so many irate phone calls that they pre-empted the 10 pm news that night to show the end of it. (It was an ABC Saturday night movie.)

Great movie
That’s a nifty piece of tv history. Love it. 😊
Tuesday Movie of the Week intro was created by *Douglas Trumbull*. He did the special effects for 2001, Blade Runner, and Brainstorm. Everyone should have seen the similarities!
Larry Don't forget "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Star Trek: The Motion Picture". :)
Also Close Encounters Of The Third Kind...
Take me back to the time when the the music was like the opening bit.
thanks so much for posting this. the ABC Sunday night Movie theme will be an earworm for several days, but its worth it.
1:24 The voice of William Schallert for ABC.
Other voices of the Alphabet Network have included Joel Crager,Dick Tufeld,Ernie Anderson, Michael Rye and Fred Foy.
@@armorybrunotjr.3204 Yes -- all great promo voices heard on ABC. 😊
Thanks for loading this. Memories, memories, memories :-)

That is Burt Bacharach's "Nikki" as the "Tuesday Movie of the Week" theme.
Dick Tufeld is the announcer.
The 70s had such awesome movies 🎬 🎞 🎥 i miss that time. FYI didn't get to see "Duel"😮
Thanks great memories of being a kid in the 70's this was my network for watching movies 6:54 The Sunday and Friday night movie Theme from mid 70's until early 1982. That is my favorite theme or intro in ABC's movies love the music Great movies then Great video
i think that theme was called Nikki which was written by Burt Bacharach
Burt Bacharach. You can never have too much.
Shawn Driscoll Right. He wrote some of the most beautiful songs I have evet heard.
Those movies of the week were awsome those times are gone and it's truely sad
Back when ABC used to get all of the biggest movies on Sunday nights!
as always; GREAT job Fred!!!
I love these. So many wonderful memories. Thanks!
You're welcome, Teresa.

Presenting the World Premier of an original motion picture. Wow, I love it.

The late great Ernie Anderson
Burt Reynolds' wig!

I hear ya, brother!
Ahhhhhh, the gold ole days. One 19" TV inn the house and your father chose what was playing on it
I remember watching that movie. It was a very good movie always been a fan of Dale Robertson.
Shows how polished and classy things used to be back in the day IMHO. There used to be some quality standards for production.
The Good old days TV! Even with the commercials! I'd rather have this! Then the crap on TV today! Great Memories, for sure!
Oh...Burt Reynolds...wow... RIP.
And "What happens when the roughest gang in New York City joins in with...mimes????" LOL!
That sounds like William Schallet.
Good times back then as a kid. I miss it.
I like the sound quality of this..Really.
I remember one of the movies ABC ran as a Movie Of The Week had to do with some sort of earthquake that ended up trapping a group of subway riders. This was a great made for TV movie series. One of the great films in the series was "Brian's Song".😊❤

When tv was worth watching

I was really little but I remember some of these movies on ABC
1973 Don't Be Afraid of the Dark scared the hell out of this then 9 year old.
I wish a lot of these old TV movies would be shown again, some are but not very much.
Thank you!!!
Back when we got good stuff on TV
15:36 what's the name of that song in that promo?
I was just thinking about the old good old days it also thinking about the movie of the week theme song
Going to see William Shatner give a talk. I forgot he did Kingdom of the Spider.
MOVIE OF THE WEEK WAS THE BEST OF IT'S DAY WITH GOOD STORIES GREAT ACTORS I FRIST SAW THE NIGHT STALKER BEST SCAREY FILM FOR TV IN HISTORY 😊😊😊
I remember the over the hill gang movies fondly
Can we get a listing of which movies in order and time.
I remember watching the movie Duel which in my opinion was the best TV movie!
Liking William Schallert's voice-overs here...
Yeah, he was very talented
King Bee which voice over
The early 1970's...the first set on this reel.
Back When it was Movie Night, Before Netflix
I remembered when they canceled ABC movie of the week because it was deemed to violent. How times have changed.
Frist cue: Harry Betts arranger and orchestrator Harry did a lot of these
wasn't there one called 'the black widow???' . . . and what's the one i remember where a voodoo coven was putting a curse on that woman sleeping in a bannister bed then all of a sudden a black python appeared under her bed & kills her?? i totally remember watching these as a child, and of course, "deep dark secret of harvest home," stepford wives, etc. the best was "stranger in my house," starring linda blair, bar none, where she plays a witch--i still love that movie!! . . .

I definitely saw the movie vampire when it was on
I remember all of these promos for movies. One question though, what is it about 1970s movies that were shot in color and have now turned into nothing but browns and oranges?
I think maybe it i the chemicals in the film aging, that would be my guess. Dad was a photographer, I'll have to ask him.
ddoyle11 There's a video on RUclips of a concert of Bert Kaempfert orchestra in Germany from 1967, the premier of color tv in Europe, where the color is a fresh as it was when video taped.

Time, baby. Time. The relentless march of time, into the future, leaving the past ever further behind. Time. Daddy to us all.
Color fades out of film by chemical breakdown, but how does it fade out of video? I've even rented DVDs of 80s movies that have the kind of color loss you see in some of these videos. I'm old enough to remember when these movies were new, so I know they didn't look like that originally. Otherwise, great video.
The color fades from the film source by the time it is transferred to DVD.
Rem watchn this when only 14 channels that included cable at time ❤
I had two channels until I was 8.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday night on abc
Do you also have any vintage promos, etcetra from the Late Late Show ? The LLS and the ABC Movie of the Week were regular viewings
Now I want to see The Assault on the Wayne..
Today you couldn't pull stuff off like this, because there aren't enough competent young actors to do roles like this on TV. ......'and starring Fred Astaire." :)
I would have chosen Shirley Jones!!
Does anybody have this on 📀
I think it was by the late 80's that prime time movies disappeared from TV's major networks all together.
I think it was more going into the 90s, as I can remember the first time I saw Aliens was on a CBS Sunday Night Movie in 89. I was only 5 at the time. I also remember the first time that I saw a bit of Poltergeist for the first time was on an ABC broadcast my mom was watching one night
And absolutely NOTHING to watch on TV tonight. Gee whizz.
I hope y’all will reply to this I’d like to have Airport will I like it?????….it’s one of Dean Martin’s movies I haven’t seen and I love Dean Martin…..I’d like Saturday night Fever huh?????!!!…I like the songs that were in the film disco 🕺
I kept waiting for Killdozer. No Killdozer.
Wow!
Inger Stevens died in 1970
2:45- this aired under the snappier title "Run, Simon, Run".
2:32 reverse sexual harassment.
Makes you really hate the 2000s
