We went from horses to aircraft and spacecraft in less than a century. The industrial revolution really was one of the most important events in human history. Today all development has slowed down. We were supposed to have hover-cars and moon colonies by the year 2000. Instead we have people who don't know which restrooms to use throwing tantrums while the third world drags us down to their level.

It was nice in comparison today but compared to other decades they aren't really that good. The cold war created this cold, bleak atmosphere which is really apparent when you listen to the music. Just as artificial and boring. Synth pop was the curse that computerized music and ultimately led to the industry's downfall. All that computer made crap goes back to that era. Sure there were still good bands around I don't doubt that. But it can't compete with what was going on in the 60s and 70s. That is me saying that as a 90s kid. The culture itself though was of course way more open and real life oriented than today. So were the naughties when I grew up. Don't get me wrong I love 80s movies and a bunch of other stuff from that time since I was born in 83´ so I still perceived some of the Zeitgeist. But objectively speaking the generations before me had better music.

I don't know if it's more they go looking for trouble or they just happen to find it because of being triggered by something someone else said. This technology is a problem in that regards but ironically it's also the solution since you can always find something to either confirm or debunk almost anything. The "do your own research" crowd are the ones least likey to take their own advice, since their research equates to some memes that someone else posted. Very few actually go looking to find out if it's true or not.

I grew up in the '80s and had a pretty terrible childhood by most standards. That said, I still look back on that time period as the best time of my life. There was indeed something special about the '80s. Spending the summer being outside all day with my friends, exploring around on our bikes, building forts in the woods, and generally raising hell was always exciting. Going to the video store to rent a good VHS tape, with classics like Commando and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, was a highlight. No cell phones meant you had to memorize all of your friends' phone numbers. No need to call, though; you just went over to their house and knocked on the door to see if they were home. Everything was more laid-back and genuine; people were nicer and much more active. All of this technology we've become accustomed to is doing the opposite of what it's intended to do. Rather than bringing us closer together, it's drawing us farther apart. I look forward to living my life over and experiencing the '80s again.

Kids today miss good fun, even our cars were fun colors and our hair was crazy! It sad that today most cars are boring and sleek. We expressed ourselves loudly and a pack of 80s kids were heard way before we were seen, we were loud! We lived huge and summers for us were times of teen crushes and running around till it got dark. Miss those simple days! Holidays too were epic!

You forgot to mention that the aluminum foil on the rabbit ears antenna always worked better when you were touching it. Thus becoming part of the antenna. Then, if you were lucky you had a "kids" TV which was always an old portable black and white that usually had a fuzzy picture. I was born in 61 and can remember my parents complaining about gas being TWELVE CENTS a gallon! We spent all summer in that strange place called outside were we tried to kill ourselves on playground equipment that is now banned by the Geneva convention. Ahhh, the good old days!

Came along in 66, boy i remember the 70s and 80s. I joined the Army in 84, from drive in mivies,to long conversations on the telephone at night (getting a girls father to interrupt), the cars, TV shows, cartoons. Just a simpler time looking back i realize how much my children's generations have lost in regards to just simpler growing up. Like studying at the local library before walking home from school, that summer job. The military was different then also and i traveled all through panama and central america and the US and Egypt.
