    Colin Trevorrow: "The Giganotosaurus is like the Joker, he just wants to watch the world burn."
    Giganotosaurus: *a normal dinosaur that's in the movie for five minutes and just wants to eat*

    I also want to add : Spielberg´s idea of spectacle when making JP : Cecil B DeMille, David Lean, John Ford, William Wyler, John Huston, Robert Wise
    Trevorrow ´s idea of spectacle when directing JW movies : Rob Cohen, Brett Ratner, John Moore, Johnathan Liebesman
    The premises of Spielberg's blockbusters (Jaws, JP, the Indiana Jones) are premises of B movies but Spielberg treats them seriously without patronizing them and in the end he elevates them.
    Meanwhile Trevorrow treats Jurassic Park with comtempt.
    The Jurassic World movies are as dumb as Bay's Transformers movies but the difference between them is that Bay knows how to do a money shot while Trevorrow doesn't.

    The whole notion that Trevorrow went this direction with the franchise was to "honor Crichton" is completely ludicrous. None of this BS draws from the books at all. He's basically blame-shifting to a beloved and now-deceased author. Really makes me root against him ever having an opportunity to run a franchise like this again.

      Yes, I've read both Jurassic Park and the Lost World (which has never been truly adapted outside of the idea of Malcolm going to a second island). Are you sure his movies do draw from the books or are you just trolling and throwing jabs at strangers on the internet? I think I know the answer...

    2 moments that perfectly describe this movie is when Alan Grant first appears he gives a small speech about why he still diggs but who is he talking to? Everyone is just digging at the site and he is just babbling this dumb speech ramdomly? Its so out of place its ridiculous. Then in Malta, after they release the dinos in that small wharehouse, the 2 guys fall into the small arena and fight while they have an audience of other guys calmly sitting arround the arena watching them fight while in the background the loose dinossaurs are atacking people... like what?? Loose dinos in the room and people just casually watching a fight between two guys not even caring about the dinossaurs recking havoc just behind them??? Its just a nonsense movie

      One more moment for you. In a franchise defined by the theme that mankind can't play God, they retcon that a lady successfully cloned herself and then changed every cell of the clone's body to eradicate an illness with no negative repercussions. She did all of this Before the genetic tinkering of the hybrid dinosaurs caused problems, and her technique allows Wu to play God by getting rid of all the locusts. From a movie that sets out to say "we screwed up and now we have to live with dinosaurs" it ends up saying "we screwed up and now we don't have to live with the locusts."

    • @josephgibson5902
      @josephgibson5902 2 года назад

      In hindsight I think it could have been a fun and tense scene if the cloned versions of the dinosaurs he was excavating migrated to the site and killed some of the diggers.

    What really bothers me is the need to constantly outdo the Tyrannosaurus with a larger predator. When observing birds, modern-day theropods, it is typically smaller birds that harass larger birds. Mocking birds will give an impressive and acrobatic air assault on crows if they dare enter their territory. Crows will harass red-tailed hawks if they get too close. Blue Jays, another corvid, will group up on any predatory bird(s) they find and mob them until they leave the area.
    T. Rexes are powerful and aggressive enough to drive any other predators from their territory.

    This whole thing hurts my heart AND butt. First of all, why did the dinosaurs survive the first week in the wild? In reality, we would have sent out trained hunters and killed them immediately. It's not like big animals the size of dinosaurs could have hidden.

      There are a ton of reasons the dinosaurs wouldn't pose a threat to our species. Natural reasons and reasons related to this franchise's own established logic.

    We spent all this time splitting two different boring stories between the old and new cast, then finally unite them, only to realize there are now absolutely no stakes at all because plot armor.
    But hey, remember when those two big dinosaurs fought in all our other movies? Wanna see it again?

    Dinosaurs are just animals. A 20 mm gatling cannon will kill the biggest, baldest dinosaur! An Abrams tank will do a number on them as well. Not to mention attack jets and helicopters. A couple of RPGs will stop a T Rex. So. there could be no dinosaur apocalypse! I know Holliswood and Disney never have a prerequisite to represent reality! Love your review of this movie! ☢ ENDS ☢

    Yeah, I think everyone owes Rise of Skywalker an apology now. Say what you want about that film but at least that had good acting, good characters, good cinematography, good action, good effects, and it didn't just flat out lie to it's audience, it promised Palpatine and we got Palpatine.
    Jurassic World Dominion promised dinosaurs living among humans and instead we got GIANT BUGS.....
    Colin Trevorow is an inept bait & switch hack who at this point I honestly just believe got lucky with Jurassic World and all the success for it just went to his head.

    SPOILERS FOR JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION IN THIS POST!
    What aggravates me is that in the Malta-sequence when they get surrounded by 4 raptors they have all the time in the world to shoot them dead. The raptors slowly circles them while they are all armed. As established in the previous movie, a raptor goes down pretty quick if you shoot them. So why not just instantly shoot them? At least three of them have a weapon.
    Later when the guy is trapped in the boat with it he could easily shoot it in the head. Or while the raptor is passing through the door frame shoot it. Stuff like that makes my blood boil.
    I have a clear suspicion though that there is a studio mandate that no protagonist is allowed to hurt a dinosaur, because that might be unsympathetic I guess. As far as I can remember there is only one person in the whole franchise that is responsible for killing a dinosaur and that is the daughter in The Lost World. In all other cases I want to say a dinosaur is always killed by another dinosaur.
    Edit: Not to mention that in the first Jurassic Park Grant tries to kill a raptor but fails for whatever reason.

This movie took all the dumb shit and instead of at least making it fun dumb shit they just slapped some nonsensical Mission impossible powder onto it and left it to rot. Nothing about this movie was fun. They ruined every single scene…

    Any human with a gun can easily kill those dinosaurs. There would be no Jurassic World. That's just not possible. So it's futile to even explore that reality. Jurassic Park movies got this right by always having an isolated setting.

    At 5:23 what people don't understand that plot holes are features not flaws
    When a painter paints his limit is the size of the frame is painting on, for a filmmaker his limit is time and money : if a movie is too long there will be fewer screening per day and therefore fewer tickets sold and therefore it will make less money and no one wants to lose money (blockbusters are industrial cinema after all), so in order to have your movie shorter you have to use narrative shortcuts (wich is what plot holes are). There is a reason why The Lion King remake is boring next to the original : it tries to fill up the plot holes of the original and in the end it destroys the narrative efficiency of the original and adds 30 useless minutes while telling the same story.

    • @josephgibson5902
      @josephgibson5902 2 года назад +1

      Alternatively, if the movie would be too long with explanation of a plot hole, the filmmaker could trim a scene that goes on too long or even cut superfluous scenes. Some people watch these for the craft and some people for the immersion. A painter is not a filmmaker; the former makes a caricature of a moment and the latter an impersonation of a reality. Dialogue, sound effects, soundtrack, studio demands, scene transitions, special effects, characterization, and plotting are unique demands for a filmmaker and not a painter. And it is the filmmaker's job to construct a narrative with all of those features that is worth something. Plot holes can be shortcuts to the plot, but they can also be detrimental holes. I'll accept retcons and plot holes insofar as the movie can justify them and they're not egregious. Say Jurassic Park, when Grant and the kids fall in the T Rex enclosure. There was no indication the scene before that there would be a twenty foot drop, but they wanted the action scene to show off Grant and have him bond with Tim more so it is fine. The more unrealistic aspects of Jurassic Park III (phone always ringing inside Spinosaurus, the kid surviving weeks on the island, characters finding each other, and the fakeout deaths) are just contrivances that do serve as shortcuts. But act 3 of The Lost World Jurassic Park hinges on the premise that the T Rex killed the boat crew while locked up under the deck and not denting the cockpit as it dents the bus or any building it attacks. This is because a previous draft of the script had raptors, but they were cut. The San Diego sequence is dreadful anyways, so I don't accept the plot's explanation. A feature of this text is now that the T Rex shrunk down, went in to kill the crew and locked itself back up
