- We got issued a winter weather advisory for a snow storm in the area so I headed out with my trusty tarp and the hot tent for a winter camp in plenty of snow and even some freezing rain later in the evening

the feeling of camp being set and plenty of firewood gathered , never changes...time to eat, drink, relax and enjoy. a nice crackling fire. very nice video Robert...keep em coming...peace
Love to watch this in my warm and comfy bed ;)
LOL -- agree!
I don't blame you Isabelle!
Have a couple fire bundles ready to go that way attest you can get warm ine during the night and get it warmed up for getting around
Hey there friend I've missed you sure does look good camping in the snow
Beautiful winter camp
The tarp being weighted down by the snow.... I had to LOL.... reminds me of the time I went during a horrendous rainstorm! The tarp I'd put up as a "porch" where I'd step out of my tent.... I'd used a tall stick to keep the center up so the rain would drain off. Sometime during the night in the high winds... the stick fell down! Come morning.... there was sooooo much rain gathered in the tarp that it had sagged down in front of the tent door and I could barely get out! Had to scootch on my belly while pushing up what had to be enough water to fill a small pool to manage escape!!! Took me at least 30 minutes to manage my way out.... almost gave up at one point and cut a "new door" in the tent lol..... it wouldn't be fun if it wasn't an adventure lol Merry Christmas to you and your family :)
Haha that's so funny Issa! Funny thing is in order for me to film that little segment I had to belly crawl out of my tent so I didn't knock it off in the process lol just so I could film me using it off
@@BrooksandBirches It's amazing what you go through to get a shot lol
That was beautiful Rob!!
I loved the fire outside tent kind of in the snow!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventures!
Take care!
Be safe!
Thanks Bobbie!! Yeah I much prefer it when I have a fire going outside, especially if I have a tarp to sit under
Lovely campsite as usual brother, amidst the harsh weather it looked pretty cozy!
Damn you’re everywhere 🙃
@@mobilewintercamp7515 hahaha you as well! Can’t get enough of this stuff!!😁
It actually was a nice little spot, just enough of a gap to let some light in but sheltered enough to not be too bad
Great video. Wintertime backpacking/camping is a lot of hard work. Got to thinking while watching this that you may be a misplaced time traveler from The Hudson Bay Trading Company era. Looking forward to next one!
Thanks Johnny! It is definitely hard work that's for sure! I can't imagine how hard it must have been for people back in those days
Looking into hot tent camping researching stoves now as already picked up a hot tent. Love how you just enjoy being out there don’t get hung up on stuff and always mixing it up with different styles
I wish you and your family all the best in 2022! I love you videos! I live vicariously through them during these troubled times.
Your stovepipe is a little short. It really should go higher than the treetops in order to get a much better air draw from the stove. It would also help to keep less smoke from entering the tent when you open the loading door. Am always glad to help with useful information.
Whoa. A stove pipe 70+ feet tall would be really heavy!
Just think that if it was taller that it would draw far better than it appears to.
Miss your videos. Was so busy with moving abroad but now settled and watch your videos. ❤️❤️❤️
Dude! Love your vids!!! I like this set up in this video!!! Totally awesome! Thanks for sharing!! Cheers!!!
What an fantastic trip! I can't wait to try hot tent camping aswell! 😍😍
Thank you
Amen to tarp camping! Gotta love it. The first time I went winter camping I abandoned the tent, setting up a tarp shelter near the fire. I was warm and enjoyed viewing into the clear cold 4 degree Fahrenheit night. Got up a couple times to stroke the fire but I considered that worth the effort as the view of the nighttime stars at 8500 feet was outstanding in winter.
Amen David!! Thats the beauty of tarp camping, you feel less like a visitor to the woods that's trying to fight against it to just being one with it
Love watching your videos
Glad you like them Bella!
Another great video! You are getting SO much better! I like seeing your sub numbers rising too!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours Robert.
Thanks Todd! Feels good to be back to making some longer videos these days! Merry Christmas buddy!
Nice camping site and setting. Feel I am there also. Nice one.
You always will have someone that's going to complain, but they don't know how much fun camping is👍👍
You got that right!
Great video enjoyed watching, ever figure out what they were shooting at?
Это снежная буря? Не прикалывается, максимум сентябрь. И то прикольно
Rob your videos are awesome....all the work on the camera shots is stellar. You always make it feel like we are there outside with you. Thanks for what you do....for us who can't.
Appreciate your insight and perspective on hot camping
Merry Christmas from Yorkshire xx
The scenery is magnificent !!🎄
‘Sinks in the Grrrround’ 😂 love it
Another great video as usual Rob... You and the family enjoy the Holidays 👍
Thanks Tank!! You too buddy!
Thought I had lost your channel. The way things are changing on Y/T I hardly get notifications from channels that I have belonged to for a long time like yours. Well, at any rate, winter is here and I we get to come along with you on your camping adventures which is why I have always been on your channel. Take care and Great to see you for another season!!
I love your videos so much, I truly find them so relaxing!
I can make a fire colorful like a rainbow. Would you like to have a try?
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR'S may all have a safe and joyful holiday season
Same to you buddy!!! Cheers
And yet another awesome video
Thanks Christopher!
Merry Christmas to the whole Family!! A Greeting 🎅
Merry Christmas my friend!

I’m glad you are going back to a little longer run time!
Me too Kevin!! Trying to get back to my old videos

I have watched it multiple times . I love the simplicity of it!
Enjoyed your ‘hot tent” philosophy towards the end, i.e., you go to the woods to be AMONG the woods, not in an enclosed box. There are some alternatives, as you probably know: Being a former wilderness backpacker, I like to do day-hikes from the campsite so not so stuck inside the tent. I’ve also started fishing (thanks to my expert son-in-law) as another activity to liven up the woodsy experience.
Another fantastic adventure! Thank you, and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!
Very cool solo adventure, looking foreword to your next.. All the Best and Happy Trails Robert !
Thanks Scott! I had a lot of fun on this trip!
Love me some pork chops. The tent does look a little small. Good trip though. Merry Christmas Rob.
Me too Jon! I think they tastes best over the fire with a little char on them personally
I've found that not splitting every piece of wood is a good way to keep the stove going at night. A ratio of 3 to 4 split wood pieces to every 1 medium log works for me (and one 'big bertha' to put in just before bedtime). Get the damper settings just right and there are ample embers to get it going again in the morning
Oh my yes!! Getting the hang of the damper will work wonders, and I second your advice regarding the size of the wood. Also, a CO detector let's one sleep soundly, without fear of sleeping *too* soundly!
Very nice, great day out… merry Christmas
Great video. Merry Christmas, Rob, to you and your family.
Same to you buddy! All the best
Great set up. I need to learn those tension knots. Amazing for tarps and tents. Only 13 minutes in Rob but so far so good! Nice evening photos of the tent and fire as well. I agree, the tent is to sleep in, not stay in.
They work great Jason! Took me a little while to figure them out but I pretty much use them all the time now!
Nice trip Rob. Merry Christmas to you and yours 🤠🌲❄️
Great video brotha 🤙🏽 I just subscribed and you literally have the best videos capturing amazing scenery
Thanks brother! I really appreciate that, I knew nothing about cameras when I started and still don't to be honest so I've been trying really hard so I appreciate you saying that! Cheers
Very good.. Good job.🔽❤💞
Glad to be subscribed again. My phone messed up and I had to redo everything on my youtube and Facebook, but im subscribed again. Glad to see a new video
Thanks Brandon! A lot of people have been having that problem I think. RUclips seems to be mad at me these days and not sending out notifications to people
Love it.......
Real camping!
Dude fantastic video I hope you hit a zillion views. You’re one of my favorites. I’d like to hear the story behind the name change eventually.
Thanks Sam!! Me too lol!! Unfortunately it seems like RUclips is suppressing my content based on some of the videos I have put out in the past which sucks
@@BrooksandBirches That’s a bummer man, but I always see your notifications and I’m always tuned in bud. Keep rocking!
I went out yesterday with my One Tigris Iron Wall tent (similar to yours) and stove...tent say 1-3 people...and like you said, one person is tight. 35 when I went to bed, tent was probably 75...until the stove went out for the last time before dawn and it was 20. For me I guess it's fun once per winter. My legs are also very sore today from all the squatting I had to do in the tent. Thinking about getting the hot tent for a hammock...much bigger. Good video!
Keep it up bro
It's my dream to spend a time like this 🥰
Love all the content!
Thanks mate!!
Merry Christmas Rob, love all of your videos
Thanks Tom! Merry Christmas to you!
I like to see how you enjoy the woods! Lovely campsite. I would like to have more facilities to do something like you. Perhaps in my following life? Lol….. Merry Christmas my friend. Have a nice and peaceful time with your love people. Greetings from Spain
자연속에 푹 빠져봅니다 ㅎㅎ 잘보고 갑니다 ㅎㅎ 응원합니다 🥰😍🙏💞😎
That’s a lot of blowdown, but also a lot of wood. A real nice camp even if the lodging was a little cramped. Happy Holidays to you and family.
Yeah I had to double check when I got there to make sure nothing was that might go bump in the night! Same to you Drew and Debbie
Hey British, Home making cod cakes for Christmas. YUMMY. Great vid jb
I hope you are remembering to look up when selecting a site with so much dead fall 😗
Another awesome adventure. Merry Christmas Rob and Happy New Year to you and family!
Thanks Nancy!! Same to you!!
What a great trip! It looked so peaceful and like so much fun. Thanks for sharing. With all that snow, maybe put a large tall tripod over your tent/secondary tarp to hold it up?
Another great video brother you showed us southern boys how to camp in the snow, which we don't get here in North Carolina. Hope you and your family have good Christmas
Thanks Harold 👍 Yeah snow camping is nice as long as you can stay dry! Merry Christmas buddy
Great video...those damn chairs...I have one. They sell a piece that fits on the bottom, spans all four feet allows you to sit on sand, snow, whatever without a foot sinking in. They should come with it, not scam you into having to buy some BS accessory that makes it functional!
You were most of the time outside of your tent I didn't see inside 🤣🤣
Hello mate, you are so funny, I'm looking forward to it bro
Nice snowy trip! Merry Christmas bud....
Same to you buddy!
Love from India
take a log in your left hand, and line the axe on the center. Then bring all the log and axe down sharply together as one, to split wood. Then twist the blade to pry apart the wood. Don't try to cut wood with an axe like you are doing because the axe shears away if you miss the wood.
No gripes here, I really enjoyed this video.
Awesome, thank you JJ!
Eyup, Rob, mi owd Yawksher mukka!
When you first went to the states were you surprised by the volume of snow in places like Tug Hill, the Catskills and the Adirondacks?
I know I was because most of New York State is only as far north as the north of Spain and the south of France. But then I went on to learn about continental weather patterns, lake effect snow and the North Atlantic Drift, etc.
I’m curious to see if you knew much about it, or if it took you by surprise, just like my old lady who is from Southern Africa was surprised when it was light at 10:00 pm in the evening in summer in the UK, but dark at a quarter to four in the afternoon in winter when she first came here. 😂
Bạn này cắm trại thấy còn thiếu nhiều kinh nghiệm lắm.dù sao cũng chúc mừng bạn
Good
Thank you!
Hey Northern Lad
Happy Xmas Enjoy.
Good luck getting a chimney sweep to go down that one!
Haha who knows maybe Dick Van Dyke might come floating in if I sing loud enough lol
👍
Great video
Nice
Great video.
Thank you!
Nice video I'm 6'4" so I have a few take aways.
Right on! If you are 6'4" then this tent is definitely not for you! I barely fit in this a 6'
@@BrooksandBirches lol sucks to be built like a all pro linebacker. God bless thank for your time. Keep up the GREAT EFFORT!
Great trip, I was cold for you when you were getting everything set up without gloves, but I know it's hard, some would say impossible to tie cords with gloves on. I would have used a center pole on the tarp so the snow and rain would have ran off rather than built up.
Thanks Linda! I thought about the center pole but I didn't want too much snow going back onto the tent so I was hoping to would just run off the front but I guess not lol
Un plaisir de regarder cette vidéo ça donne envie on aimerait y être ♥️🔥🦖🇨🇵
Great video. Wished we would get some snow here in Virginia.
Thanks mate!!
Thanks for bringing us along. Longer trips any time soon?
Absolutely Stan!! I have a trip planned soon hopefully that should be a fairly long one

You sare ace 👍😁
Thank you 👍😁
I like. Halo new friends
Nice outing man. I really enjoy my Luxe Minipeak XL, I find it’s big enough ,but not too big. I think you would enjoy it better than that smaller Minipeak. Also you can cut down your rolled chimney to get it a foot or two above the high point of your tent. Not criticizing my friend, just trying to help ! Merry Christmas !
Thanks for the tips mate! Yeah I think I'm going to upgrade to the XL when I can because that one is just too small for me! I will look into that but I want to use the stove with other taller tents that I have
Very cool. What’s the fear of tying knots called?
I’d really like to know what area you do your camping in…..care to divulge?
Oh Bro it's you
Rob, you willing to put up some hashtags? Let's get you some subs! 💛😎
Hey Rob, what cameras do you use for your videos?
-Cheers!
You didn’t put the link for the saw to cut the wood . And the link for the tent your using !!
Sure do miss you talking during your videos. Still love em though
theo tôi bạn lên lấy 2 thanh gỗ chống cái bạt lên tuyết rơi đỡ phải đi hất
Замануха ! Бурю так и неувидела.
You did a good job Rob. I am glad to see you used the woodstove again. I thought you might have been turned off of it from your earlier experiences with it. You truly showed the reality of hot tenting tho. Getting all of the wood. Your little 15 second shots are good. See if there is a moving thing on your camera. It either records like the camera is moving... or maybe that is an editing function. Thank you for going out and enjoying the great outdoors... and sharing that experience with us. You have a good Christmas. Jim.
Thanks Jim!! I figured I would give it another try, like I say it is good for getting yourself dried out after a long day in the wet and cold so I like it for that. I will take a look at what you mean, I think its an editing thing
Hello, what camera did you film with?
All ways enjoy your adventures, merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 SALUD .Happy new year .godbless. it was a great year.
Salud Daniel!! It's been a crazy year that's for sure! Merry Christmas buddy
