Ocellated Snakehead, Black Barb and Toman Fishing: Sentarum National Park, West Kalimantan Indonesia

- A 4-day fishing trip to Sentarum Lake National Park, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Fishing with Justin Kuek Tern Her ( / @justfishing14 . Trip was organised by Darren Shan ( / @darrenshanfishing .
Our target species were the Ocellated Snakehead and the Black Barb. Good numbers of large Toman, the Giant Snakehead were also encountered. Travelling with only light gear resulted in the loss of several large fish, but others were also landed.
Lures: Spinnerbaits, spinners, small minnows and pencil-style surface walkers.
Travel Rods: CastDivision BiteStick, Daiwa 20 Wilderness 664LXS, Transcendence Botia BT62/73S and Pulchra62B PC62B/73B.
Reels and Line: Daiwa Steez bait-casters and Exist spin spooled with 10lb and 16lb Sunline PE. 10-16lb fluorocarbon leader.

Impressive trip Bogdan, Those snakehead are an impressive creature. The snakehead taking the smaller fish you had hooked says a lot about them.

Hey David. Might be an interesting destination for the fly fisher. I couldn't say how readily these species take the fly, but the mass is certainly there to give it a real crack.
