Even today someone from Tabriz ( Real Azarbaijan ) cannot relate from someone from Baku even though they are same people ,all iranic.
Energy is a commodity that is traded and used worldwide, so using dollar prices makes sense. The gist of the statement made was Iranians do not pay anything close to market prices for energy.
My car mechanic in San Diego was an Iranian immigrant Petroleum Engineer with a Phd. Just think about that, he moved to find a better life smog checking Toyota's than using his Phd in the Iranian oil industry. Since this post got some attention I'll add a lil more. 7:18 correction its not $0.36 but its about $0.025, the market price of dollar which we pay things relative to is 800k rials . a liter of petrol/gasoline is only about 30k without the ration . and every car owner has about 60 to 70 liters of petrol ration which is payed half per liter or 15k rials .

Why don't you use iir to buy dollars again, it would mean a tenfold profit basically? Doesn't that basically mean, that money figures are tenfold devalued also? @@SuperMisterBamOh I see. No you've confused the offical dollar price and market price. The offical dollar (now at 60k Toman or 600k Rials) is paid to importers only (and only for importing essential resources like food and medicine). Market price, however, is 80k Tomans or 800k Rials. That's what you can buy in market. No, only jobs related to oil extraction and smuggling are paid in dollar's. No one else gets paid in dollars. And yes, if you buy dollars and hold onto them you'll profit alot. @@kingp1n817 Okay, thank you very much for explaining it. Makes a lot more sense now. Though im still somewhat confused. I think the main discrepancy through the video is mixing up Toman and Rials, so basically... in a way if you mix up cents and dollars.(though its a 100 times difference there) Did I understand this correctly? As the difference in official and unofficial rate seems to only be like 25%. This doesn't really explain a 0.03$ price against the called 0.36$.
@@SuperMisterBamNah he definitely made a mistake there. The price for gas is 0.0375$ per L. And you get gas ration of 60L for each car license per month for half the price. You think this guy has ethics? You think anyone on youtube has ethics? The medium is the message, buddy. RUclips is an ethics free zone. And this channel in particular is about as slimy as they get.
The prices at the gas station are even lower. You used the official exchange rate, but the black market rate that everyone uses is about 10 times higher, so 1 liter costs about 3 cents.
Can you explain this to me? So officially if i have a dollar i get 40k. But if I go into the country ppl give me 400k? Do you get payed in dollars? @@SuperMisterBam I was only there as a tourist last year so don't have in depth knowledge about it, but when I was in Iran I could exchange my USD for about 500k. The official rate doesn't really have a meaning for the value as it's not possible for normal Iranians to get this exchange rate. It's only possible for government companies to get USD for 40k. The black market represents the real value that the currency would have and if normal Iranians need to get USD they will go to the black market and exchange there for 500k.

comparing Iranian support for its allies over 13 years (and then implying it all went to Syria) with Oil sales over 4 years is very disingenuous. Saying "no other country has that kind of subsidising" while the Graph shows Saudi Arabia also spends 27% and Russia spends 24% is silly
Except Assad's Syria, these are not "allies". They are non-state terrorist proxies who depend on Iranian money and weapons for absolutely everything and are in effect completely subordinate to Iran's decisions (and whom khomeinist Iran has itself created in some cases). The most obvious of those are hizbollocks who are absolutely hated by 60% to 65% of Lebanon's population yet control the country on Iran's behalf, which is why it couldn't have had a sitting president for 2 years. So these "allies" are just extensions of khomeinist Iran itself rather than some more or less independent polities with a normal alliance agreement. And Iran hasn't been feeding them only for 13 years, more like for 40.

We also have a higher violent crime rate than Iran and dozens of other countries Americans are brainwashed to think are scary and dangerous. Maybe if our government actually did something for it's people for a change instead of fueling instability and conflict all over the world, for example regime change wars or unilateral sanctions aka economic warfare on dozens of countries at this point, for the gain and hubris of the ruling class, things would be better for people here and in Iran too.
Why, in a country that exists in a part of the globe that CONSTANTLY gets sun, solar panels aren't a significant part of the energy sector is just asinine

The difference is that Saudi Arabia is ABLE to afford that due to selling their stock to countries that can afford it
Iran can't.
My best friend is from Tehran. He says the only people keeping the current political regime going are the old and the devout. Young people don't understand politics and history, and then they want "freedom", free from what? Just look at all the other middle eastern countries, how have they been doing after getting "freed"
I'm from the US and I'd love some freedom too. Over here in the land of the free the average citizen is 3x more likely to be arrested than in Iran. We have the highest incarceration rate in the world by far. Health insurance seems to be a hot topic too. We pay the highest prices in the world yet outcomes in our healthcare system are among the worst in the world. Things are going great here.

For years I've seen Iranians say that for all his problems, when he spent the equivalent of a billion on throwing a party for diplomats for international prestige, it at least made the country look good, which is better then the billion they spend on supplying terrorists.
proxies are nothing on this situation, barely a dent.
@@adamelghalmi9771 Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Your proxies cost you a lot of money. Like A LOT. And are one of the direct reasons for the crisis, because sanctions per se never had that effect.

Because sanctions are not going away anytime soon.

Dude I used to like your channel but when it comes to certain countries and situations you're very biased and it shows. Anything involving turkey and Azerbaijan you show in a positive light and Anything with a country that may have problems or some issues with turkey or Azerbaijan you show in a negative light. Iran famously has issues with ethnic Azerbaijani populations within Iran. Also in the video about the overthrow of syria you didnt mention Israel not one time because you know if the Muslim world showing that turkey helped Israel would portray turkey in a negative and even treasonous way to the Muslim world, so you conveniently left Israel out of the whole equation. You can't be trusted to leave your bias aside and it shows.

I used to work in Iran’s neighboring country’s offshore oil and gas field, and I have noticed that Iran’s offshore platforms are always bright because of too much gas flaring. Compared to the platforms I have worked, they barely have flame coming off the tower that burns the ‘excess’ gas.

Since it is a channel focused to english speakers, it makes sense the reiteration. Otherwise you would need to explain what sharia is to provide context. Saying sharia law, at least the listener knows it is something related to law.
@Nanaucat and they think Iranian version of sharia, which historically includes alot of compulsion seen from the safavid era (and how a girl not wearing hijab was punished), and it's not the same with the sunni sharia, which has alot of traditions.

Hello from Iran. This guy is full of %hit. Sure, the Iranian economy is not great. But we still have everything we need for our daily lives. Iran has been blessed with an abundance of natural resources. Gas is 5 cents per liter. Fruits, vegetables, meats and all other food items are abundant and fairly cheap. Not everyone is rich, and not everyone has the most comfortable life. But people still manage. All this despite 5000 sanctions imposed by the US. Thankfully Iran is now part of BRICS and things will get better no doubt. that's why I support the rise of China, as they are a good ally to us.
Uh, the opinion of a bunch of Iranians in the comment section seems to disagree with you. Also, all info we have on Iran economy isn't great at all.
You have very low expections reg daily life of the people in Iran. One person who visited all of MiddleEast said everything in Iran was old and in dilapidated condition. some correction and extra information I liked to add:
first of all while iran located in one of the hottest military zones in the world facing many historical adverseries and terrorist groups at the gates its the matter of survival. irans military spending is much lower than its neighbours around 12 billion a year while for example Saudis spend 75 billion turkey 45 uae 25 even small nation like Kuwait is at 10. 50 billion spending during 15 years (3 billion a year in the region from iran military budget )Facing isis and terrorism crisis extra to global and regional conflicts wasn't free to spend in infestructure it was and is crucial! using proxies is exactly a tactic to reduce military spending comapre to just spend on classic military capabilities which iran used to reduce its direct spending and if not spend for proxies much more should be spend for military infestructure inside I know it doesn't fit your narrative but if you want to address money that could spend in infestructure except sanction effect look at tens of billions wasting yearly through corruption, broken banking system, tax evasion which is more than 20 billion a year! exe
2_ while you are right about technology issues because of sanctions iran is producing more gas in South pars than Qatar do in the moment.

@0:29 Iran is at a natural gas deficit of "260 million to 350 million cubic meters PER DAY". This is hilarious. Iran has a population of 89 million people and 20.4 million households. Each household uses between 0.1 & 0.2 cubic meters per day. So excluding commercial & industrial uses, Iran needs about 2 million cubic meters of gas a day. And you claim it is 100 - 200x higher than that which is laughable.
House holds are not the only thing that use Natural gas
It's also not his clam
Give me a moment here:
Iranian officials acknowledge that the country needs billions of dollars in new investment to modernize its oil and gas sectors.
Omid Shokri, a Washington-based energy analyst at Gulf State Analytics (GSA), a consulting firm, said that foreign companies are unlikely to invest until Iran reaches a nuclear deal with the United States, sanctions are lifted, and the country complies with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards, which aim to combat money laundering and terrorism financing.
"Even if Iran meets these conditions today, it will take three to five years for international companies to return," Shokri pointed out. "Meanwhile, Iran faces a daily natural gas deficit of 350 million cubic meters, a 20-gigawatt electricity shortfall, and soaring gasoline consumption of 15 million liters per day. This energy crisis is the most severe since the 1979 revolution."

I see many people think subsidizing gas and fuel is fine. however, That's not how real world economy works, subsidies literally pushed people into careless consumption, during winter when outside is - 5 degree or even less, average Iranian is walking in their home in shorts and bare minimum cloths, besides that these extremely low prices eliminated any interest in investing any money into more energy efficient equipment for heating or other purposes, this affected all, people, businesses and industries, it's more of a mismanagement on an epic scale rather than just the effects of sanctions
However we hope this domino effect continues and finally leads to the collapse of the regime, otherwise things gonna get even worse for everyone, not just Iranians
