Cooling DRAM is supposed to boost data retention time. I once read about a forensics experiment where a DRAM chip was cooled with liquid nitrogen, put into the freezer, then put into another computer to read its contents. I couldn't find the article, but there are other articles about cryogenically cooled DRAM. Probably just refrigerating or water cooling them would boost data retention times. Nice topic for some research work.
