Man, the usage of “Moving Scene” during Mega Man’s power-up at the end gave me chills. I don’t think it’s an understatement to say it’s one of the greatest video game compositions of all time. (Honestly, the usage of Star Force’s music in general was very much appreciated. They fit really well for the video.)
All the stuff Wily says about being "the second coming of the emperor of Mu" and "the continent of Mu has recognized my genius" definitely seems to bolster the possession theory. I'd bet that the first coming of the Emperor of Mu was dangerous enough that the Earth sunk the entire continent to stop him, and his spirit raised the continent, took Wily as his host, and picked up where he left off. Wily probably rediscovered the continent and tried to harness its energy and technology for his own purposes, but bit off more than he could chew. That, or the godlike power went to his head. Wily's an egomaniac. Something like this could easily drive him off the deep end.
Oh yeah. One of the Mega Man manga was illustrated Ishikawa Ken, a student of Osamu Tezuka's. He also illustrated the manga adaptation for an Astro Boy spin-off titled Jetter Mars. Most of his Jetter Mars chapters weren't on the internet until I scanned them. I'm sure there's still a number of them I don't know about.
Are you thinking of the doujinshi Gokudo Rockman? Ken Ishikawa was not involved in drawing it, he had already passed by the time it released, though it is a parody of an actual manga of his called Gokudo Heiki, drawn to look like his style. He was also not a protege of Osamu Tezuka's, but of Go Nagais. The manga adaption of Jetter Mars was done by different authors per chapter, and none of them were Ishikawa Ken. I am very curious about these chapters you scanned, they're not on your archive and data sites like mangaupdates dont seem to have this info on them, which i would feel is odd. If you have this info, why not spread it?
Oh yeah atlantis squarepantis on nintendo ds to lenghten the game's run time actually sets 4 stages in mu where you also meet a boss straight out of castlevania, the ANCIENT GEAR GOLEM THAT GUARDS THE CLARINET SONG PAPER ... this is real btw, its not even a joke.
I thought I was a pretty huge Mega Man fan, but I'm really glad this channel exists to show I haven't even scratched the surface, lol. Great stuff. Also using the Starforce 2 credits theme in the end of this vid, given the topic, is just _chef's kiss_
God that part in the beginning where you struggle looking for translations is so relatable for me. As an enjoyer of Japanese and Korean comics/media, the amount of time I have spent looking for translations of things that catch my interest (especially continuations of things with the translated uploads cutoff for months or years) has probably driven me slightly crazy, and the sites you visited in that portion of the video were very, very familiar. That site tracking Scanlation Groups still confuses me to this day.
Man i LOVE the megaman manga/ and obscure video games (ily pachislot rockman ability), so happy that you made a video on one i did not even know existed!
10:33 I do agree that video game elements don't really need to be explored in other media, or at least they don't have to exist. Sonic fans complain that none of the Sonic comics have rings in them, and, like, why should they? Their soul function in the games is to make sure you don't die instantly, and that doesn't really translate well to screens or comic pages.
i kinda like what a bunch of the animations did with them but i just think they went overboard making so rings have a inherit power that can be used to do things in large quantities is kinda cool it also would make sense as the chaos emeralds are directly linked to the rings so rings could just be materialized small ammounts of chaos energy
So... Rock fights Cell from DBZ, cities are flooded like Station Square in Sonic Adventure at the end and our blue hero once again fires shots far beyond what his father has ever thought to be possible. Sounds totally like the non Mega/Gigamix manga to me. It's wacky to love for that mere fact.
Its nice to hear about forgotten Megaman media! ...Even if the writing of this story is kind of... Questionable. I really think that you should talk about Megaman fangames. Specially the Make A Good Megaman Level series that reference a lot of obscure and forgotten Megaman media.
this is pretty cool. Right now on the Timeless Dubs channel we just started doing a voice acting high quality dub and animation of the Archie comics. And even though it will take a long long time to get all those done, it would be cool to start doing some of these Megaman mangas after. or even before finishing the Archie comics if we kinda do them back and forth.
Are you sure it was after this video? Maybe it's a different mega man wiki page (possibly a starforce wiki), but that's how I even learned about the continent of Mu being in a Mega Man game. Because of me reading about it in a mega man wiki site YEARS ago.
@@Basher.G Right. But that makes me wonder what the hell was I reading a year or 2 ago. I know it wasn't last month, because late july/all of August I was locked in my room finishing a project, in which I never really go online (or reasearch) from the anxiety of trying to finish it. But, If it REALLY was this year, it had to be before Spring time when I quit my job, because I was still working when I read that starforce wiki page, I know that for a fact. Another banger video from retrodude Also what's up with the story drawing really quick conclusions like "oh hey that must've been the voice of the earth" like how do you know that
It kinda reminds me of the way the Battle Network show had all the navis super charge his cross fusion form to beat Dr Regal, who also wanted to off humanity.
you are the only youtuber ive ever seen directly say they were cross checking sources, or even allude to the fact they didnt take everything at face value in a VERY long time which is kinda sad when i realize it. so good job 🫡
lmfao Mu has gotta be the basis of most of the deep lore big spoiler stuff going on in One Piece too. What a weird way of discovering that source of inspiration

@@lokmanbetahi4783 Interesting, I’d never heard of this before. It looks like it was mentioned in FlashingBlade’s iceberg video. I’ll have to keep this one in mind
I want to question you about the very beginning of the video. Is the fandom wiki really the preferable source for Mega Man information? Usually older series like these have their own separate wikis due to the various issues plaguing the fandom site.
"Moving Scene" from the Starforce series. Basically their equivalent of the "Hero theme" in Battle Network, in that it plays during epic/determined moments involving Mega Man and his friends.
Honestly the mangas have some pretty interesting stuff in them for mega Man fans. Glad you did a review of this one and would not be opposed to future reviews of more manga!
I have to ask, are you unironically covering Megaman out of love for the series or as a way to gain RUclips revenue? I’m a fan, and you mentioned wanting to exploit the series for revenue despite not really being a fan of it. It’s quite bizarre to see. I hope you do wind up actually liking the series and not really making these purely for attention. Otherwise I can’t support this type of content.
Not as obscure as that Brazilian Mega Man "Manga" that had its art style changed literally in the middle of an issue and also showed Roll (a child) naked a lot.
This literally feels like a early DBZ movie.
I love the idea of these videos getting more and more obscure and insane
What else will be the next obscure and insane video
the ol tf2uber effect, running out of easy trivia pieces so you have to dig to insane depths to find anything new to talk about
i can't wait for that big mu guy to show up in a fangame in 3 years that gets cancelled 3 months after. good video
ain't nobody making a sprite for a guy that big

need the final super mega buster to show up as a super move in a fighting game or something that would go so hard
i think that would be overkill for smash but i really want megaman do go double mega buster as his final smash on that game
The effort you go through to search out these obscure media and fact-check your sources is greatly appreciated.
Stone Man dies of being shot in the balls. Tragic.

Funny how most of the fights in this come down to mega man just one shotting everyone with no fanfare besides the mu bot.
light really did well with that new power-up
Then powering up a second time to one shot him too
Funny thing about Ariga's Megamix. Some panels were redrawn from their magazine publications. Gonna track down those too?
Even one of the Megaman BN phone game have Mu as plot.
Most obscure? Well , I guess no japanese manga beats the Capcom licensed Brazilian Megaman comics

I wonder how old this manga is, because that ending feels VERY inspired by Mother 2/Earthbound.
at last, peak in my home
We need Rockman Taisen

It's the R guy! :D
