Thanks! The best thing about it is that it looked like that in camera. I edited the others, but that sunset is basically what I got at the time. It's was on a tripod in the water with a long exposure. I think it was maybe 10 seconds or so to blur that water. At the time I shot it, it was pretty much dark.
Pretty good. I think the drone footage could of move a little slower but, hey that's just a personal preference. With that said, some great scenery. I never knew or even thought of Texas as having Cypress Swamps.
I agree. You should see the drone footage that didn't make the cut. It's a new skill I'm working on, but drones these days are so nice to have for videos. I usually just shoot stills. I didn't know that Texas has swamps either. I expected that they would be primarily in Louisiana, but I spent most of my time in Texas on this trip. Lake Caddo is in both Texas and Louisiana, and I visited both sides on the lake, but that was my only time in LA.
I booked a phototour for early November and need guidance to prepare myself. Your video is very helpful with great photos at the end. However, I have my doubts about the use of a tripod with an expensive camera on top out of a shaky kayak.
The tripod I used was very tall, and it goes in the water. You have to push it down into the silt on the bottom to get it stable, then the camera goes on it. I was in a boat, not a kayak, but a lot of people do use a kayak for this photography. Some people even get waders and stand in the water. I took waders, but I never got our of the boat.
I follow a lot of photographers on Instagram, and I just noted where their posts were located. A lot of them are at Lake Caddo, but there are other places in the area. Honestly, they all look pretty similar.
Skip to the 6:30 mark to see the video footage from the swamp and some of the images.
Cool BTS, you planned it well and love your final images
Loved the video Matt.
The final image is pretty awesome.

Wow that location is just too beautiful! Very beautiful and moody shots! Looked spooky in the dark 😂 you totally deserve more subs!
Absolutely love these videos! So informative, with absolutely breathtaking footage to boot. More please!! :)
