Interviewing tips for how to get people to talk about their life stories for articles, oral histories and videos. In this particular situation, two USC students do a mock interview using a crisis situation as the basis for asking the type of open-ended questions that lead to good answers.

This is a great primer for conducting an interview. I am a writer and I am working on a story where I will need to conduct a number of personal interviews. I've got 4-5 pages of notes from watching this 5-minute clip. Well done, USC.

Wish I watched this video before I launched my 1st interview for my writing. I admit it after watching this I am so embarrassed to reply my very 1st recorded interview lol. But I now have few ideas for my next project interview. Thanks guys for sharing

Excellent demonstration of some of the problems in life story interviews along with some examples of good practice. Most of these points apply equally to other sorts of interview such as semi structured interviews used in research.
