Watching the Netflix series on El Rey, so great to get to know this man's life. I first heard him while in the Marines, stationed on okinawa Japan. A bunch of us rednecks hanging out in the barracks, drinking on the weekends. One day one of the guys put Vincente on the cd player, and we fell in love with his voice. You are only dead when you're forgotten Chente, and your name will live on. Via con Dios señor.

Je suis un francophone, je vis à Montréal. J'adore et j'écoute très souvent cette superbe chanson interprétée de façon si prenante par Vincente Fernandez. Elle me transporte dans mes souvenirs qui remontent à 1976, lors d'un congrès scientifique au Mexique. Dans un restaurant, à l'intérieur d'une grotte d'un village près de Mexico, j'ai entendu pour la première fois des mariachi interpréter cette chanson. Je suis tombé sous le charme et je reste amoureux du refrain. Vincente (c'est le grand maître), est de loin mon interprète préféré. Merci El Rey.

But part of my family is from Mexico, even my dad, and my dad and one of my uncles, they’re both bosses of 2 different mariachis here in Sacramento California, which is where I was born and raised, and I’m also a mariachi in the mariachi that my dad is the boss of, and I sing this song whenever and if it’s requested, and I’ve noticed that it may not make people cry, but it does make people feel lots of different emotions, mostly happy, but also sad or something like that, because this song is talking about a man who loves a woman and he has left for a very long time, and he will do anything he can to return to the woman he loves. And he might die trying. But even after his unexpected death, his love for the woman he loved so much, it’s still felt throughout everybody, and for me, I sing it for whatever the occasion is, even to help a guy serenade his girlfriend/wife. And if I were you, I’d listen to another song that I sing whenever and if it’s requested, because it’s a sad song, that makes you feel at like a loss for words. And the song is called,

Asistí al festival de mariachi el año pasado en la ciudad de San José en California. Aquella noche era una experiencia cultural e importante al pueblo. La música más hermosa que he oído alguna vez en mi vida fue tocada esa noche con gran maestía y pasión. Escucho a las grabaciones de Vicente Fernàndez cada día y conozco la letra de "Volver, volver", "Los laureles" y "México lindo". Nunca en la vida mìa he oído una voz tan gloriosa.

And for me, I was born and raised in Sacramento California USA, and I was born on July 11th, 2000 and I am now 21 years old, and I’ll be turning 22 next year, and for me, part of my family comes from Mexico, like some of my cousins, are from Mexico, and part of my cousins, are all from here in America, and some of my cousins were all born and raised here in Sacramento California USA, just like me and my brother, while some of my cousins were born in other parts of California, and from Mexico, my dad, my aunts and uncles, are all from Mexico, and my dad got me introduced to the Mexican music genre, and over the years of me growing up, I began to learn, on how to sing, at least 14 different mariachi songs, and I may learn on how to sing more, and if not, then that’s al good enough for me, but I know at least 14 different mariachi songs, and I have learned, on how to sing 9 different songs from Vicente Fernández, and I have been wondering, since he passed away not too long ago, is it going to be, like more painful to hear him singing, either here on RUclips, or on Apple Music, or on Spotify, or even on a radio, or wherever you can hear him singing? Or, is it going to be more painful, to sing his songs yourself, either with a mariachi band, or even on karaoke? And I almost forgot to mention, I am a mariachi myself with my dad and his own local mariachi band, and I was also thinking very recently, how about, me and my dad, my dad’s band, and friends of ours from around Sacramento, including my dad’s band, and our friends from Sacramento who are also mariachi bands, why don’t we all get together, and we get together on Vicente Fernández’s birthday of next year, and pay tribute to him on his birthday of next year, as he was a well known and famous and iconic singer and iconic man. But I’m not sure, if anyone around, does or doesn’t wanna do that, as his birthday was on, February 17th, and on February 17th of next year, it’s gonna be on a Thursday, and that will be a school and work day for everybody around. So, that is why I am not really sure if this idea of mine will or won’t work out for his birthday of next year.

For me, I am not a gay or bisexual or transgender person. I am a straight guy, and I love women. But for me, even though I was born and raised here in Sacramento California almost 22 years ago on July 11th, I just want to admit, that even though my dad is the one who got me introduced to the mariachi music world, as well as like, I think in his own way, got me exposed and introduced to the genre, even though my dad got me my start on the mariachi music world, when I first heard Vicente Fernández’s voice for the very first time, even though I am not gay or bisexual or anything else like that, I immediately fell in love with his voice, and how he sang his music, and how he felt, and all of the pain and happiness and emotions he was feeling in every song he sang before he died, I think all of us were able to connect with him easily, especially for me because I was born with a high functioning form of autism, which means I am an autistic adult, and for me being autistic, I look at the world a little bit differently than most people do, and the other thing about me is, I do love and appreciate all kinds of music from all over the world, but I have only, at least 3 favorite kinds of genres of music, and 2 of them come from the United States, and only 1 genre comes from Mexico. And 2 of the genres are, rock ‘n’ roll, heavy metal, and those are my 2 favorite genres of music from the United States, and my number one favorite genre of music from Mexico, is none other than mariachi music. And don’t get me wrong, because I do like and appreciate the modern music that we have these days, like from Don Omar, and from Luis Fonsi, and even though they are not Mexican, they are both still considered as Latinos, and not only that, but Mexican or not, even though I like and appreciate all of the modern music from Latinos these days, my number one favorite genre of Latino Mexican music is still mariachi, mostly because my dad got me introduced and exposed to the music, and even though he got me my start on the music, I begin to pay attention more to Vicente Fernández and to his music, when I was growing up. And when I heard that he passed away on December 12th at only 81 years old, I have been beginning to wonder, and I am still wondering, because he has been dead for the last 2 weeks by now, is it going to be more sad or heartbreaking, or even both, to like listen to his music, either here on RUclips, or even on Apple Music, or even on Spotify, or on some kind of radio channel, or even on a jukebox at a restaurant, wherever you can hear him singing? Or, is it going to be more sad or heartbreaking to sing his songs yourself, either on karaoke or with a mariachi band? For me, I didn’t, and I honestly still don’t know the answer to that question. And if you guys would like to keep in touch with me and talk to me about whatever, maybe you guys could send me an email, or even give me your phone numbers, or your social media accounts, or maybe I could give you my phone number, or even my social media accounts? I mean, it really is up to you guys if you guys would like to keep in touch with me or not.
In 1977 I was a hostess at the very elegant dining room at La Mansion del Norte in San Antonio. Vicente Fernandez was staying there while on tour. He took a fancy to this young Latina with waist length hair, and summoned his photographer. Before I knew it he had swept me up off my feet, holding me like a baby, and began serenading me. I was totally starstruck. I later received an 8x10 of the photo from his agent. When I showed it to mi Mama y mis Tías, they nearly lost it! He was a legend, devastatingly handsome with a voice like an angel, both powerful and delicate. I just learned he passed into Heaven -- I treasure this beautiful memory and will never forget him.

Nunca he sido un fanático de la música ranchera pero desde que Don Vicente se murió me he puesto a escuchar su música sera por nostalgia o no sé que, pero entre más la escucho más me gusta y tengo que reconocer que tenía una tremenda voz muy linda. Todos mis respetos para un grandísimo artista. Su música vivirá para siempre. Que descanse en paz.

My dad used to listened to rancheras in Haiti back in the 70 and 80. I wished I could turned the stations. Now I’m in love with this kind of music, my dad said I was to young to understand

Dios que voz. Eso es cantar a pulmón. Con el micrófono en la cintura la voz de Vicente Fernández era potente, no como hay todavía cantantes que se pegan el micrófono, casi metido en la boca, y con playback, no Tod@s, porque el playback les resuelve, en tanto con Vicente, nada que ver. Eso es cantar, ni música urbana, rap, y me disculpan los fanaticos de la música urbana,esta es mi opinión, pero por más famoso se haga la música urbana, no compara con esta música que todavía sigue gustando.

Cada mañana amanezo tristezona por Chente pero yo sé el está en un mejor lugar donde el ya no sufre donde el está mejor. Ojalá me llevará mi dios ami en vez de el Chente porque mi vida toda es muy negativa y ya estoy muy cansada de vivir todos mis familiares que están en México me echan de menos todo el tiempo me ignoran. Pero le echó gana ala vida porque así me kiere ver Chente y el ve a todas sus fans y el kiere que seamos feliz 😞.
