To be honest. Downgrade because of the number? No. It's all about performance. 7+ Gen 2 is more efficient and powerful than 870. You should check it one more time....

    I have F3 6GB 128GB & my Poco F5 8GB 256GB came yesterday.
Side by side, with manual max brightness & same colour profile (Vivid) in direct light F3 is slightly more brighter.
F3 has better speakers, F5 sounds hollow, not worried about the back as I use a case.
I can see improvements in the camera departments for the F5, better autofocus, better details, no stutter in video, OIS and less noise in lower lights.
I'm glad the jack is back.
I'm glad I didn't pay extra for the Pro, as I don't really require the extra performance.
Overall I'm happy with the phone, as I paid only £268.23 for F5, F3 I paid £249.74 2 years ago, so actually F5 is cheaper due to inflation.

    • @kodaph

Pro performance is just an added boost if you ask me. F5 and Pro got 1 Mil+ antutu scores which is pretty much on par.
edit* added performance means, it consumes more power means less battery life

@@kodaph Pro does get better GPU, better IS, screen etc, so those will make a difference for gamers or photo/videographers.
On the technical side that no one mentions is the ram is only 2x16 BIT whereas most flagships would use 4x16, not sure how much that would make a difference on day to day basis though.

I Use F3 8/256 and F5 8/256. Sounds is slightly better on Poco F3, screen is very nice on the both. Video recording is much better and stability on F3, but Poco F3 is limited on 8 minutes 4K video, Poco F5 is not limited on that way.

THE REAL POCO F5 CONS reviewers would not mention
    • *Camera* - there's no life in night shots or when taking a photo in the dark esp in pitch black scenes as the camera flash does not help at all. The flash is lacking in brightness. It seems like a dual LED flash but, it's ONLY single flash LED. (Look closely)
    • *Speakers* - No bass at all. It's pointless to have Dolby Atmos. Changing tweaking settings does not help as well. It sounds like an old radio. Dual cheap speakers. (Poco X3 GT sounds way way better)
    • *Display* - the Amoled panel is less vibrant, the colors are soft and having HDR10+ is nothing as this doesn't help as much. Colors are pale-looking as compared to Redmi Note 10S (less expensive phone)
Hey brothers, this is not hating or anything, I am just telling you the cons I have noticed so far, so you won't regret buying this phone or spending your hard-earned money.
Skip this phone if all I mentioned bothers you or concerns you.
If you only care about Snapdragon 7+Gen2 ... then, everything will be OK for you.

Regarding the brightness, the Poco F3 can only reach 1300 nits when watching HDR content, otherwise it maxes out at only 716 nits on auto. Apparently the max brightness on the F5 is 963 nits on auto, so technically it's brighter when out in the sunlight. Data is from GSM Arena.
For manual brightness it's 511 nits on the Poco F3 and 470 nits on the Poco F5. Maybe that is the difference you can see?

Also there is one major point althought doesn't impact the function but it does impact the overall look/feel. The front camera cutout is like much bigger than the ones on Poco F3. They used to be so small and thin even beating other flagships and phones. They used to be so proud of it. Not sure why they removed that.
End of the day yes the performance is definitely better than 870 but 870 is enough for my use and battery is still good for 6-7hrs SOT for me even after 2 years of F3. So gonna stick with it for next upgrade and see what Poco has to bring to the table. Its nice to see they brought back the headphone jack and finally bringing OIS to budget range phones.
