This is one of the best designs I have seen. I am happy to share this has I feel it is going to be very important now and in the future. Thank you so much for making this open source for everyone to build. All the best. Bobby
Hi Gary, Just finished watching all the new videos. Great work. Thanks for breaking it all down I finally have a better picture of your system. My own updraft charcoal gasifier will now get much better thanks to you. Best regards, David Baillie
Hi David You do a good job of explaining what you have done and how it works. Have you tried running your VW on this yet? My son Chad and I would like to do this in the future. I would be glad to trade you some advice on improving your video quality (or VW repair) for help with our gasifier when we get to it. I enjoyed your enthusiasm and industriousness. This is better than the plans I was working up! Thanks for the insights! Looking into kudzu as fuel (an abundant supply here) . Thanks. Tootles... Wade
These videos were extremely helpful in understanding how gasification works, but would your system work with no charcoal and instead just using a burning fuel like wood chips or pellets?
Nice show! I'm from Holland and do remember my parents pictures with cars that had gasifiers on them. Didn't know it was an item again. But then..... with today's gas prices.... The only thing that makes me wonder? How much residue do you create (Particles dirty filters etc) and what is the clasification of that stuff? Chemical waste? Or is it pretty inocent?
Nice build. Would it be worth fitting an old down-draught carburettor to the engine ait-intake above the air-valve? That way you could run a float-chamber full of gas when starting, without the bottle. It would give a more constant suction, and the butterfly would serve as the air-valve once the gas in the float chamber had been used up.
Nice job and a good explanation. How much electrical power can you get over an extended period of time? I have been working with a chinese Jxq-10 for a while and the results aren't nearly as good as yours are. Pete Stanaitis
I did the filming for Gary - he can be found via email at Gary Gilmore(ggilmore@comcast.net) I do know he had made this rig for a VW beetle and also for some Model T fords.
if Gary had not mentioned oxygen entering into the reactor through a leak in the lid could be explosive would you had been less apprehensive taking the video shot down the tube (assuming you were the cameraman)?
I noticed on part #2 you disabled comments.. let people comment on all your videos!! Even the best videos have rude ass comments.. Pay attention to the good comments. There's a ton of assholes out there, but there's also a ton of people with lots of great information! If you don't let people comment, you're cheating yourself out of one of the best parts of posting stuff in such a public forum. You'll be surprised at what you can learn from others.

Interesting hobby gas generator and hat's off to your work and knowledge.
I would not want this setup in the house with me for fire safety reasons.

Great videos really made a lot of sense.
How often do you need to run the auger to feed more fuel, or does it run constantly? Thanks for the video. It's really well done.
