That was awesome! Just a small edit you might want to do: Apollo 12 has "Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin". Just need to replace it with Conrad, Gordon and Bean. Apart from that, this video was very well done. 😊

From the Earth to the Moon won 3 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special, Outstanding Casting for a Miniseries or a Movie and Outstanding Miniseries.

I wanted to be an astronaut as a child, but became an educator who will love what we did acomplish with NASA. This is so special.

I only just clicked on this but I wanted to thank you for what I already know is an ambitious edit. From The Earth To The Moon, for anyone who doesn’t know, is an HBO miniseries that tells the story of NASA’s Apollo program that sent 32 men to the surface of the moon. The cast is fairly large and the miniseries was hailed for its accuracy.
My favorite part was always the last episode. _Le Voyage dans la Lune_ - the French short film - always sparks this childlike awe and wonder in my heart, both for filmmaking and science in general. It was such an inspired choice to incorporate that narrative.

RIP Bill Anders of Apollo 8. He passed away a few days ago at 90 years old….. Not from old age, but from a plane crash he was flying by himself. A pilot to the very end, Bill Anders had the right stuff!

Apollo 10 is featured in 'From the Earth to the Moon,'
Just not very much: 'we is down among 'em Charlie.'

I don't understand how it's 2020 now, and we haven't followed in their footsteps. We should of had a mission to Mars by now. I'm sure we'd have countless astronauts lining up to go.

    • @shoopy4858

We do have astronauts but no budget . NASA's budget has reduced a lot . They had plans for Apollo 18,19 and 20 in the 70s and were looking forward to mission to Mars by the 80s . Unfortunately none of these happened thanks to shortage in budget and less approval by the government . Now we have private space agencies such as SpaceX who has recently send astronauts to the ISS by partnering with NASA . So there's hope for the future of space exploration .

@@shoopy4858 Right, going to the moon was all about beating the Russians. That became obvious...

@@MVuke84 Well it was the cold war , so yes beating the Soviets was the main goal .

The powers who be would rather put the money into Afghanistan, and Ukraine, and Israel. I couldn't agree more with Apollo 14's Ed Mitchell; "You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, "Look at that, you son of a bitch!"

Not only did you get the Apollo 12 crew names wrong, but bottom clip at 22:06 is not Apollo 12 - it is Apollo 13 (different mission patch) - Lovell & Swigert at first and then Haise emerging from the tunnel at 22:15.

It would have been nicer if you'd tried to sync them up as you did in your later videos. Like in the Gemini 4 mission, the lines that were in the TV series were in the original, just cut down in time by removing all the long pauses. If you could have matched up those parts it would have been a lot more effective. One other note is that you usually have used government films to find the footage; which, while fine, sometimes missed out where the series did actually include something from the original transcripts! I would have been fine with some blanks on the old footage if you were to at least have the audio recordings and maybe the point in the transcript.
Otherwise, it was great that you took all the time to find all the matching footage! It looks like it took a huge effort to make 35 minutes of this!

Apollo 12 was Pete Conrad, Dick Gordon, and Alan Bean...not Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins again

And in reality, they had about 15 seconds of fuel left in the descent stage before they had to decide to abort or land...they were NOT about to actually run out at that time.
