This is a great video and really helped me. I just got an old 70s electro harmonix booster pedal and have it sat before my plexi pedal, it works a treat. Les paul sounds even better than it did before!
It seems that the boost after keeps the tone more articulate while the boost before saturated the drive pedal more. It seems like a boost after would work better for fuzzes where the input heavily changes the saturation levels, but would work better before with a more amp like distortion.
Thanks for using the Gib. I love my Gibson. It was built in the early eighties, so almost a vintage guitar at this point. It's technically an epiphone, but has the Gibson name on it. The older it gets the more I love it. So you did a great demo and I'm thinking of adding the TC to my pedals.

Are you sure it didn't tone suck the overdrive ,when placed after the Glove Drive pedal ,, should spark go before the Wah 👶🎤🙏👶🎤🙏 ,, I got a spark mini for cheap ,, gonna screw with it ,,, thanks 🍩 here is a doughnut,,, great job
Question I would have is , let’s say that booster is before the OD to boost a bit more for gain and volume, can you chain a boost after as well for solo boost? Most people use it after and simply for solos ...but can you boost the boosted sound already for leads?
one question..i have ts9 before my high gain pedal..it push the tone and the mid greatly..then where should i put this booster..after the high gain?.before the ts9 or the middle between high gain and ts9.?thank you in advance music bliss
Hi if a place a clean boost before a solid state/digital amp will I get a volume increase? I want to increase the volume during solos but sadly my amp does not have a fx loop...
I want to boost level for my solos so which one do you recommend boss fd2 or spark mini Fd2 has feedback effects but will my tone change when i turn the boss fd2 pedal?
I found this video very very helpful, thank you for demonstrating the booster characteristics before and after the OD. Do you find that you get the same characteristics with all overdrive pedals? In other words will the booster before the OD always boost the drive gain but not so much the volume? Will it always leave the drive the same and boost the volume when put after the OD on all pedals?
Yes indeed, the boost before an OD will definitely increase gain all the time. However it is important to take note of the GAIN level on your OD pedal. If it already set to a higher gain setting, you'll only notice more increase in gain. BUT if the OD pedal i set at a lower gain, you can actually hear not just an increase in gain but also a slight increase in volume. As for the boost being after and OD, it very much depends on the character of the boost. For example, the CAE MC401 is a transparent boost, which will only add volume. But the MXR Micro Amp might add a little something else, a bit of "colour" because if was designed like that. The TC Spark in this demo was used in the Transparent setting when placed after the OD, thus not affecting the character of the OD. If I were to flick the toggle switch to the MID of FAT boost, you'll definitely hear the character of the OD change.
Cool video! Where do you recommend to put a clean boost? Last in the chain? i..e after Delay OR just after OD but before modulation? I just want to have a louder volume during solos. 😀
@@franklespaul7150 Depends...if you want to change the tone of the guitar then before drives....if you want to change the sound of drives then place after.
I think I've got the solution: I've got the Spark Mini in front, before my booster (MP Sweet Honey) and practically "always-on", and his big brother, the Spark Booster after, to kick in for lead and solos, because one can never trust the soundman....
Great video! Great channel! I recently bought a Marshall BB-2 pedal that I intend to use just as a booster; do you think it's a good option, or should I buy one that is just a booster? Regards from Uruguay!
The BB-2 will be great as a booster before your drives. You can set it up like a Tubescreamer (All the volume, just a tiny bit of gain) and see what that does. But if you plan to boost your volume by putting it after your drives, you'd be better off with a stand alone booster.
Timothy...if you have a high gain amp that is heavily distorted....put the boost last in your chain in the fx loop !!!!! Not only will you only have to set the pedal very low like maybe only a 3 db level 9 o'clockish, but it will increase your volume without adding gain. Will not work in front of your amp if it has full on gain as it is heavily compressed at that point and will not add anything but bad tone.Trust me on this one lol.
Short and straight to the to the point, perfect.
As Simple as That, the best chanell on RUclips 👍

I use a loop pedal at the end of my board but the boost pedal also boosts the loop, I don't want it to do that
the seven sisters boost is incredible
youll like the cheap kokko booster
Great job !
Can we connect booster pedal directly to amp

Sure, why not....I've done that personally, a boost before and a boost after.
SaintsCheat I’m doing just that and I love it. Stacking pedals, overdrives specially is awesome
