"Holden Caufield, that whiney little bitch" Even though I enjoyed Catcher in the Rye and don't hate Holden (who thinks you're a phony) that made me laugh so hard!
+Amiee Ann people who are told to read something, they usually end up hating it. Yes Catcher in the Rye was AMAZING but I had to read it a second time to feel that way
The thing with The Maze Runner is that I liked the first one, then kind of the second one, then half way through the third one I was just like "I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FRICKING PROBLEMS THOMAS, I AM DONE WITH YOU!!!!!!!" And I never went back.
For overhyped books: Maze Runner is pretty okayish, so I wouldn't sacrifice it first even though it is NOT the best, I WOULD CHUCK RED QUEEN AND GLASS SWORD RIGHT AT THOSE ZOMBIES HEAD
I really liked the Maze Runner series and I thought The Scorch Trials and The Death cure were great. Although I can see how people get annoyed with Thomas but let's be real if someone captured you, continuously lied to you, dragged you up a Rocky Mountain in a sack and then forced you into a room where you could potentially be killed, you wouldn't be so eager to become besties with them. So I thought Thomas' decision was justified to be hesitant in forgiven Teresa. But to be fair the first book was really slow up until the end but was still a entertaining read.
Before I read the Maze Runner, I watched this video and I was like, "well I am never going to read the book." I did and I agree with you. WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT IT?! Nothing happens and the characters are flat.
TFOS is the kind of book that I read, then weep, then read it again to make sure that happened, then read it again, and again, I mean, like, WHY JOHN GREEN!?
I didn't like The Fault in Our Stars either. When I first heard of it I though, "If the non-readers love it then it has to be amazing." I don't understand the enthusiasm.
xD....I naturally cannot stand reading classics...Like the way they wrote always has me like... 'Okay I don't get what's going on.' I don't know if my reading level is too low to read classics or something xD
Oh my god I feel the exact same way about The Immortal series! I got a preview of the first book in a magazine and thought it was interesting, so I went and got the book, which I also liked so much that I went and got Blue Moon... And I have never been so disappointed in a book before in my life, like I just chucked it at the back of my closet. I want a refund
aw this was the first video I have ever watched on your channel Christine. I'm feeling so much nostalgia right now. You're channel was one of the channels that made me love Booktube.
I actually really liked Catcher in the Rye. Lol I''m the complete opposite, when people tell me they hated it I'm the one who's in shock. I found Holden to be really relatable a lot of the time. It's really a hit or miss book. For me, my overhyped book is The Hunger Games. Overrated, not as amazing as everyone makes it out to be like it's some God sent piece of literature.
I completely agree, I enjoyed reading books like The Hunger Games or Harry Potter or whatever. I find them entertaining and can get pretty captivated while reading them but while they're a great read they just can't stack up against books like Catcher in the Rye or A Separate Peace or Flowers for Algernon (just randomly naming books that might taught in high school). They may not be as enjoyable to just lie back and read like some of the others are, but reading them has a way of changing you about how you think or how you look at the world or at other people. They contain a deeper wisdom to impart and that's why they're considered classics, and why they have held up over the years and why they are taught in schools. But not get me wrong, just because they're viewed like this means that you have to or are going to or even should like them. I'm a lover of the classics but if I had the chance to go back in time and beat Thomas Hardy to death with a copy of The Mayor of Casterbridge I'd seriously consider doing it.
Allison Basurto I'm not sure if you ever realised that people have different opinions and are allowed different opinions. Also, people can read whatever age grouped book they want. They shouldn't have to be told what to read and what not to read.
Saying that you should use your "imagination" to think of your own ending is like not finishing a painting and saying that the viewers will just use there "imagination" to fill in the blanks.
I agree with The Catcher in the Rye one. It was fun reading it the first few pages, it was awesome in the last few pages, but in between, when you've already read about 3 chapters of Holden's complaining, it gets very repetitive and boring. It only redeem itself (for me) in the last 2-3 chapters, when Holden and Phoebe go to central park and Phoebe rides the carousel. That was definitely the best part of the book. It hit right up in the feels section.
1) 13 Reasons Why 2) Crossed or Allegiant 3) Wuthering Heights or Remains of the Day (the WORST) 4) The Legend trilogy by Marie Lu 5) Lady Midnight by Cassie Clare. Just ugh, the pain. Also Allegiant, or Requiem
OMG I feel the same way about Catcher in the rye. I was sooo annoyed with that character that I didn't finish it, I felt the same with Will Grayson Will Grayson by John Green.
Being brutally honest: I like ur account because u know what shipping is what an opt is and other things such as Percy JACKSON and the Olympuians stuff and HOO
Oh I'm going to read The Catcher in the Rye next for English class! Personally, I really hated Romeo and Juliet. There was a hilarious movie made from it, but I found the book to be stupid.
Actually, I saw a movie. I don't know if that version was also a play, but it was a modern version with guns instead of swords, and stuff like that, yet they quotes the book, which gave a really comical effect.
I'm so glad you made this video! I absolutely love all of your booktalks, but it's fun to see you do some tags! You had super good answers! I've watched a few of these types of videos and it just made me mad lol because people just bashed a lot of books I love... I actually agreed with you though and really enjoyed this! btw my eyes got HUGE when you ripped that out! Ya got me good :D
OHMYGOSH. When you mentioned the last page thing I immediately thought of Requiem, and then you showed it....I'm really tempted to tear out the last page now
You are so right about requiem . I love the series ... Team Alex forever by the way... But she just decides to end it without us knowing what happened to Hanna or what's in store for Alex and Lena I mean seriously who DOES that! I don't want to use my imagination I want to read the ******* ending
When I finished Requiem, I literally turned the page expecting for it to continue but IT DIDN'T. IT JUST ENDED. I WAS SO CONFUSED AND THE MORE I THINK ABOUT IT THE ANGRIER I GET.
And yes, I like Holden, because he sees te negative output on everything, and sometimes that is okay. If you don't want to say something negative, Holden basically covers it and says it for you in the book lol.
YOU DID MY GIRL ARIEL'S TAG. BUH-BUH-BUH BOOOOOOOO YAAAAAAAAA. This tag was basically MADE FOR YOU, WOMAN. ... I'm kind of scared to continue reading the Delirium series now.... AND EXCITED.
Yes! She's just being enthusiastic and it's more entertaining to watch a video where the book tuber is passionate about books. So leave Christine alone!
1. Halo (Alexandra Adornetto) 2. Fallen series (Lauren Kate) 3. House of Night series (P.C. Cast) 4. Wicked series (Nancy Holder) 5. Matched (Ally Condie)
Vinna Viy It's one of those books that doesn't really require any thinking to read and I think a lot of people like that, plus some people get addicted to fast mindless violence/action like there is in this book. I don't think those things make for a good book though which is why I don't like it but some people do.
I absolutely loved catcher in the rye... its so amazing that we all have different opinions. Plus I love almost all classics. I am really glad that books bring such different feelings to people. Its what makes them great.

I actually loved Allegiant. Just my personal opinion. Even though the ending was super sad and I cried a lot, I loved the book and the whole series! The ending didn't ruin the book or the series for me like it did for others.

Zombie Apocalypse book to chuck at zombies- Shiver Book to protect hair- Mocking Jay Awful classic from lit class- Lord Of the Flies Book to burn and keep warm- Matched
Finally. Someone else who hates Catcher in the Rye almost as much as me. I had to read it in my 10th grade English class and I hated it SO MUCH, I wanted to literally put the book down, walk outside, and scream. I just hated Holden's negativity and the book didn't make sense. I just hated it. HATED. IT.
Oh my gosh your videos are just amazing you crack me up the whole time I'm watchin! I love all your topics I don't think I've watched a video yet that I can say I didn't absolutely love thanks for all the entertainment.
oh my god ha ha when you were like "this classic.. this classic.." I was just WAITING on you to say "The Catcher In Rye" .. everything you said about that book is exactly how I felt. The whole pace of the book is actually pretty good but omg I just couldn't stand holden. He just complains throughout the whole book and he keeps asking every person he meets if they would like to have a drink with him. like just random people he met. drove me crazy!!
I'd pick "Eclipse" by Stephanie Meyer. I decided to give Twilight another chance and still don't like "Eclipse" because Bella spends all of book two pining for Eddy but runs off to play with Jacob constantly in book three. Also "I Am Legend" rare case where the movie was better.

"Global warming has exploded," I'm DYING

Everyone says that the maze runner is overhyped, but I've seen more people who dislike it than people who like it xD
OMG CHRISTINE I WAS IN SHOCK WHEN YOU ACTUALLY RIPPED OFF THAT PAGE FROM REQUIEM. OMGGG HAHAHAHA
I had a little heart attack
SueJi Bae I was shocked too, but i totally agree about why she chose that book to rip out the page. the end was horrible.
SueJi Bae
I would have done the same thing lol
Shit....me too
"Holden Caufield, that whiney little bitch" Even though I enjoyed Catcher in the Rye and don't hate Holden (who thinks you're a phony) that made me laugh so hard!

This is the best book sacrifice video ever.
The thing with The Maze Runner is that I liked the first one, then kind of the second one, then half way through the third one I was just like "I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FRICKING PROBLEMS THOMAS, I AM DONE WITH YOU!!!!!!!" And I never went back.

global warming is cold........
The Catcher in The Rye is my favorite book ever. :-\ I loved Holden and his personality, tbh, and nobody's taking that from me.
I am so glad she mentioned catcher in the rye ugh it was horrible
Before I read the Maze Runner, I watched this video and I was like, "well I am never going to read the book." I did and I agree with you. WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT IT?! Nothing happens and the characters are flat.
Actually Minho is a great character, I liked him the most. Perhaps you didn't get the feel of it. We are not the same.
DubCraft I'm glad you enjoyed Minho. Also I'm glad you enjoyed the book
areadersworld I really liked the MAze Runner series. Thomas is a whinny little bitch, but I just loved Minho and Newt
on the last one it would GOT to be fucking Blood of Olympus
+Zoe Bosin OH MY FUCKING GODS YES
Now I'm nervous, I haven't read the ending
Helen Oeur It will kill you, then make you want to come back from the dead and kill uncle rick
+Zoe Bosin I couldn't agree more
Omfg same
Scenario 1 for me would have to be The Fault In Our Stars. I hated it with a passion.
I can't stand you then
TFOS is the kind of book that I read, then weep, then read it again to make sure that happened, then read it again, and again, I mean, like, WHY JOHN GREEN!?
I didn't like The Fault in Our Stars either. When I first heard of it I though, "If the non-readers love it then it has to be amazing." I don't understand the enthusiasm.
I lost count of how many times I've watched this, it's so funny

aw this was the first video I have ever watched on your channel Christine. I'm feeling so much nostalgia right now. You're channel was one of the channels that made me love Booktube.
The Fault in Our Stars
Agreed. It is the most over hyped book of this century.
When we read Catcher in the Rye in English class we only discussed it for about a week because my English teacher hated it too.
I flipping HATED the immortal series.
1. Twilight
2. Crossed
3. Jane Eyre
4. Coraline/ The graveyard book
5. Mockingjay

these people need to stop reading so much YA novels... for real, It scares me how dramatic they are... they hate that book but they love twilight? wow
Allison Basurto I'm not sure if you ever realised that people have different opinions and are allowed different opinions. Also, people can read whatever age grouped book they want. They shouldn't have to be told what to read and what not to read.
I love this video so much i cant count how many times i have watched this

ThGameSystem10 yeah.... should be 😠
Saying that you should use your "imagination" to think of your own ending is like not finishing a painting and saying that the viewers will just use there "imagination" to fill in the blanks.
But... The maze runner.... Do you realize what you've done...
***** Never forget. There's Holden Caulifield :)
Eliena Chan I love the Maze Runner series but I don't really like Thomas. Newt is my favorite.

I didn't like Wuthering Heights either
lady midnight was so good
+Sam S I know right!!!
I actually really loved Allegiant...
OMG I feel the same way about Catcher in the rye. I was sooo annoyed with that character that I didn't finish it, I felt the same with Will Grayson Will Grayson by John Green.
Kinda weird how I agree with EVERYTHING you said.

I have never seen it as a play. My class read it as a book and then we saw it as a movie.
You read the play then...
Ugh, it's ok
You're fine.

Book 1 and 3 are great.
Book 2 is shit
I'm so glad you made this video! I absolutely love all of your booktalks, but it's fun to see you do some tags! You had super good answers! I've watched a few of these types of videos and it just made me mad lol because people just bashed a lot of books I love... I actually agreed with you though and really enjoyed this!

I still don’t get how Christine can hate the Maze Runner, but she’s really funny in this video so I will forgive her XD
😂😂 Yeah.
same, i love maze runner
film is fun. havent read the book yet
I don’t hate the Maze Runner, but I don’t love it either
I LOVE THE MAZE RUNNER SO MUCH!! I've read the series as a whole about 10 times...
I would be throwing the Cursed Child in the fire. Sorry, you aren't canon to me
And yes, I like Holden, because he sees te negative output on everything, and sometimes that is okay. If you don't want to say something negative, Holden basically covers it and says it for you in the book lol.
I actually liked Beautiful Darkness but chaos just drones ON AND ON AND ON
likewise; I read the first one, struggled through the second, and just gave up after a brief attempt at the third.
I FINISHED THE 3RD ONE BUT NOT THE 4TH
HOLDEN CAULFIELD IS FREAKING DEEP. HE IS AWESOME. THE CATCHER IN THE RYE IS AMAZING, IT IS A FUCKING GOOD BOOK. I LOVE IT.
You sound like Rachel Ballinger a bit :o
YOU DID MY GIRL ARIEL'S TAG. BUH-BUH-BUH BOOOOOOOO YAAAAAAAAA. This tag was basically MADE FOR YOU, WOMAN.
... I'm kind of scared to continue reading the Delirium series now.... AND EXCITED.
+Simone L Haha, that's what makes her even more of a kickass booktuber!!!!! :P
Yes! She's just being enthusiastic and it's more entertaining to watch a video where the book tuber is passionate about books. So leave Christine alone!
Omg. The part with the ad. You got me. You really did. And my heart shattered a little bit. Nicely played, Christine. Almost too well played o__O
HOLYYY crap finally someone gets my hatred for the maze runner and beautiful creatures!
Thank you so much. I'm not alone :'D
1. Halo (Alexandra Adornetto)
2. Fallen series (Lauren Kate)
3. House of Night series (P.C. Cast)
4. Wicked series (Nancy Holder)
5. Matched (Ally Condie)
The Catcher in the Rye. That. Book. -_-
I replayed the "Catcher in the Rye" rant over and over again, that part was hilarious (and I agree with everything you said)
Just found your channel :) you are VERY COOL. I laughed so hard xD
But, yeahhhhhh! Were all allowed to have opinions. Btw, your my favorite book tuber! So full of energy all the time! I love it!
Maze Runner is the best in my opinion
Lilly Hong I can see why some people liked it but I really didn't I actually liked the movie more than the book.
101books same
I really don't understand what's so amazing about it.
Vinna Viy It's one of those books that doesn't really require any thinking to read and I think a lot of people like that, plus some people get addicted to fast mindless violence/action like there is in this book. I don't think those things make for a good book though which is why I don't like it but some people do.
Lilly Hong I really like it too
I absolutely loved catcher in the rye... its so amazing that we all have different opinions. Plus I love almost all classics. I am really glad that books bring such different feelings to people. Its what makes them great.
I couldn't stand reading Romeo and Juliet
I go the Maze Runner for my birthday . . . I'm reading it . . . is it really that bad?
Well I actually liked it
I really enjoyed that series as well :)
SAusloos the first book is amazing the rest of the series...
the second one, the scorch trials is okay.
the last one, (the death cure) honestly, was kinda boring.
the prequel, the kill order, is really not worth your time reading.
i really liked it
I love the whole series.
I feel the exact same way about the Maze Runner, I seriously don't get the hype about it...
+Sydney Books Love your shirt!
+Sydney Books i loved it idk i loved the characters and the story.
I've read the series and liked it but it will never be as good as Harry Potter
I would say fifty shades of gray for the overhyped book
Same.
Usually I skip over the part where they tell the scenario, but I loved watching how you tell it :D Definitely do more book tags please!
Looking for Alaska anyone?
Legit couldn't even finish the first chapter....
I was 40 pages in and I left it. Couldn't stand it!
I'm a huge reader and Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book of all time. I'm always shocked when people say they didn't like this book. And YES I LOVE Holden.
The Catcher In The Rye... Holden Caufield just annoys me so much
I hate Holden everyone in my class loved that book and I'm just sitting her like!! SHUT THE HELL UP HOLDEN!! worst character I ever read in a book!!
I know my mom told me 'this book changed my life' so I went into it thinking I was going to like it then I was just thinking 'hold e you have no morals in life, GO AWAY
who-bit-my-cookies 4328 Totally Agree.
Molly Durkin I concur, such a horrible book. Not at all deserving such a name as classic and what not.
Walden Pond is the classic I want to destroy and pretend was never written. My teachers was so obsessed with it there was a poster of the actual pond (he also went to walden pond)!
i really like the Maze Runner...
i think that for the catcher in the rye you need to read it in a certain way. you need to really read between the lines for that book.
I absolutely HATED the Catcher in the Rye. DON'T UNDERSTAND THE HYPE
Well, for the last question, it wouldnt matter what book you pick because the last page is either promotions for other books or legal copyright junk
I hate Beautiful Creatures too! I don't get the hype!
The Maze Runner is one of my favorite books i read the whole trilogy and i loved it
NO you spit your gum into Allegiant!!!!
lol I read requiem
I take back that comment
***** EGG-ZAKT-LY!!!!!! I loved Divergent, but Allegiant was either so boring or sad that I couldn't STAND it
Totally thought the same thing!
I didn't even finish the epiloge 'cause i was crying my eyes out. WHYYYY???
I actually loved Allegiant. Just my personal opinion. Even though the ending was super sad and I cried a lot, I loved the book and the whole series! The ending didn't ruin the book or the series for me like it did for others.
1.The Causal Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
2. Beautiful Darkness by Margaret Stohl and Kami Green
3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte or Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
4. The Halo Series by Alexandra Adornetto
5. Mockingjay by Susan Collions
My over hyped book would be one of the books from the Divergent trilogy. How can you not like the Maze runner? I just don't understand.
You got it all wrong honey you got it all wrong.........
That is my opinion. I am entitled to it.
you are but divergent is overhyped for a reason and it got more book and box office sales for a reason. :) Elle Hart
I disagree with the reasons
AmericanGirl661 its just her opinion. So what if the sales are good? Its just her opinion. Jeez
I swear ranting about books that annoy you without being judged or scoffed at is so satisfying!

*I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M NOT ALONE* I HATED THE IMMORTAL SERIES. I gave it so many chances even to the 5th and I WASTED MY FEELINGS
YES! I wasn't the only one who thought 'The Catcher in the Rye' was boring.
I was about to cry when I thought you literally ripped the page out of the book.
Oh my gosh! When you ripped out the page, I stopped breathing for a second! I don't know why because I didn't even read that series yet!
I SCREAMED WHEN SHE SAID CATCHER IN THE RYE I LOVE THAT BOOK SO MUCH
1. the Awakening by Kelly Armstrong
2. Eldest by Christopher Paolini
3. the Giver by Lois Lowry
4. the House of Night series
5. Mastiff by Tamora Pierce
I loved hating Holden Caulfield. But I don't judge you not liking it- most people I know hated it. I was actually really surprised that I liked it so much.
