I also have an SLC01 in original black and white livery. The frame is totally intact with indifferent cosmetics now but, wow, what a machine. I am fitting 6600 Ultegra gear, BMC alloy bars and, interestingly, a Rotor Rings crank set plus Easton wheels. The carbon seat post and stem etc are with the bike. Originality is the objective. Can't wait to get it on the road!
Swiss perfection, Italian passion, Easton hoops and kit and wondrous space age carbon nano tubes .Lovingly restored and rebuilt for Mallorcan terrain. OMFG! A totally sick bike and an instant classic. Keep 'em coming guys!
Good vid ! I do have the same frame, also with the Astana design, and was never able to have a good feeling with the rear brake. There is a spongy effect. Cable housing does not maintain the cable tight when passing through the top tube. Do you experience the same effect ? Thanks. William
Hi @@plumomallorca6289 Thanks for replying. It’s Shimano Dura Ace 7800, 10-speed. I have replaced both cable and housing, but this does not fix the problem. The problem is clearly within the top tube. I have checked carefully the lever and the callipers. There is always a difference between front and rear brakes in term of modulation, on rim brake bikes. But in this case, it’s over what I consider as acceptable. Thanks again.
@@williamfracheboud I've tried one fitted with dura ace as well and It feels different than with our Campagnolo Record with which we get a very good feeling when braking. Maybe due to the thinner cables ? Best of luck to sort that out
@@williamfracheboud I have the same issue with this frame - it turned out the cable guide inside the top tube is dirty and it put friction to the cable when the brake lever is pulled. Cleaning the guide will help.
the early seat post is a disgrace, the carbon teeth fail and the front tops upwards, happened on two bikes I've owned. Only remedy is to get the later seat post which is expensive
Back when bikes were fast and easy to build.
