It's truly amazing how little has changed about the job. Electric motors is like the only thing I can think of.

I'd go a little slap-happy if someone was smoking around my drops

Bent nails and bailing wire is now screws and gaff tape. The chain hoist too are awesome. Today lights are very digital vs. the incandescents. Power consumption is way lower today as well. Biggest difference, there’s no women on this crew. I learned a lot of valuable stagecraft from women.

Been a stagehand for almost twenty years, first non union, and now Local One, and this could still be used as an intro today.

This was filmed during the 1960 national tour of "My Fair Lady" (featuring Michael Evans and Diane Todd), when it appeared at the National Theater in Washington, D.C.

I love how this touches upon the old hemp house's and old school stage pins. One of the first house's I worked was just like this. Good memories

I've been a stagehand for a few years now and I love it!! Its amazing to see how time has changed so much but not. Not a single woman in this footage! 😒

If it makes you feel any better I've been a hand in Boston over 15+ years, and around here I've worked with a TON of talented, smart, badass women. Some of the best hands I know, and just as respected a part of the crews as any man. Things are coming around, albeit slowly. 🕶👍

This is what I do for labor in the productive economy currently! Just for musical performances not theater...although it is pretty similar to this presentation and even one of the places I work at used to actually be a movie theater! It may be odd hours and the pay could be liveable surely but it is an interesting skill to learn and develop definitely! In a few hours I'll be pushing road cases so to all the other production people out there may the gig be with you always!

Ha! I'd love to know what these old diggers think of productions like U2 or Rolling Stones.
Wearing those office shoes must have been hell on their feet.
Xray 6:24 moving lx units, eh? Looks like cyc battens to me. I wonder how much they'd enjoy Vari*Lites or Martin movers.
How about a simple 20K wash?
LED should give them a thrill
35+ years in concert touring including 10 in the Sydney Opera House.
All these guys are 40+, jeez!😬
