- Ocala is a city in central Florida. East of downtown, Fort King National Historic Park was an important Second Seminole War site. The collection at the Appleton Museum of Art includes pre-Columbian artifacts and contemporary art. The waters of Silver Springs State Park are dotted with kayaks and glass-bottom boats. The park is also the gateway to the woods and lakes of the vast Ocala National Forest to the east.
Moved here from D.C. area in 2014. Very peacefull place. Affordable, but nice, welcoming people, low crime rate. Pretty trees. Relativley safe place from hurricanes. Economy growing, although there are still a few failed empty stores, lots, and mini strip malls around ready for someone to bring in business. Plenty of open land to develop. It's right off of Route 75 which connects it north and south to the rest of Florida.

Move there in 1987 it was beautiful, 200 was a two lane road not much traffic, back then we didn't have any carwash businesses we washed our vehicles at home.

Looks like they're letting the spanish moss kill the oak trees in the middle of Silver Springs blvd. across from the golf course. They might be thinking about sticking more lanes in there.
I'm looking in there but I hear there is a lot of crime and low-paying work and all of this makes me leery.But your saying the opposite

I'm from the D. C. area, so this is heaven for me. Sure, there will always be some bad things wherever you go. It's all relative I guess.
I grew in Hernando Florida I'm living in Lexington KY right now I plan on moving to Ocala in less than a year cant wait

Ocala is a beautiful city, it’s almost the belly button of the state, just a few hrs from the beaches and 1.5 from Orlando/Tampa

It looks so beautiful there. We are thinking about moving there, of course pending the job market. I miss living in Florida, and it looks like Ocala would be a perfect place to get my roots back there. I was a long time Jacksonville resident, but I am not looking to be in that big of a city now.
