Should the bullets be lubed for every process you using? I know that it should be used for bullet resizing but what about for the bullet seating process? Also when cleaning your brass, if you use the sonic cleaner by Hornady they express how well it cleans the inside and primer pocket of the bullet. Would you,if using the sonic cleaner, lube your bullet and resize/ deprime them before cleaning them?
Great video, Just picked one of these up. I have a "leeloader that I have used for about 2 years( yeah the one you use with a hammer) Decided I needed to speed things up a bit.
I need some help with mine. The powder lever gets locked up on the upstroke like something is in the way of it and also when I seat bullets it does not run smoothly. it feels again like something is in the way and it gets locked up and I have to ram the laver down hard to seat the bullet
Thanks for the video! I recently purchased the lock and load classic kit... Can't wait to get started... Helpful video and I subsribed... Once again thanks...
You mentioned automatic primer feeder follow up video, any idea when that is available? I´m planning to modify Hornady primer feeder to my Lee 4-hole turret press and would like to see how it operates..
Because most people buy one separately, gotta think not everyone buying a press is cleaning range brass some guys only buy new or buy pre cleaned deprimed brass from others to save the time
It's difficult to find stuff right now, I want to start releasing my ammo, should I get one of these presses, or wait because of price gauging or inability to find primers?
I just started too got primers on gun broker not cheap but still worth it in my opinion, powder is hard to find but just keep an eye on several different websites and wait til it’s in stock
@@adrianR3d84 check eBay I got the Hornady classic kit took about a month to get every component I would check midway, midsouthshooter, and grafs for components but they are restocking everything just sells out pretty quick. Get the Lee classic cast with Breech lock update. It’s cheaper, made from cast iron and built like a tank, does everything this Hornady press does(I think Hornady rode off of Lees breech lock idea), will load accurate ammunition, and last a lifetime.
+Thamac15 I was curious about this too when I saw your question; I asked my friend who reloads and he said he generally de-primes, cleans, then deburs but it's really users preference.
Did you see the Lock-N-Load Iron kit? BTW: check this out: ultimatereloader.com/2014/05/28/starting-to-loading-rifle-part-i-what-youll-need/ no kit has "everything" :)
Now if we can only get our hands on the molds used to make those primers.. we can smelt our on steel and pour those as well. But im guessing theyre made by a press stamping them out of a perfect flat sheet of steel
Christopher Jones They are stamped, and it's much to dangerous to make them indivisibly. The sensitive explosives require a lot of care, one without proper professional training cannot handle them without danger. I know explosives so I know people will just blow their fingers off. Powder is ok because it isn't impact sensitive. Its best to just buy them a lot and vacuum seal them. Plus you cant smelt steel to make a small item like a primer. It can only me stamped on a press. Oh check out www.gunchannels.com its a google hangout chat room for gun people and we are looking for new members. No money involved. My ID is bluephoenix if you ever get to come in.
Donnie Chapman You need to make sure the primer cup "L" bracket is installed. If it's not, the spent primers will fall forward, not backward into the black catcher.
Why would one waste money on those bushings when he can just screw the die in? If I get a new press, no bushings. Sorry Hornady, looks like you get a pass.
I have to say very nice I have one my self as mater of fact you cam go by my page and see I don't make videos because people are weird some times but hornady is the best there ap both metallic and shotshell are outstanding if u have any probs they will definitely be minor and hornady also makes really good shotgun 12 and 20 ga slugs
Thank you for taking your time and explaining things clearly , I’m a rookie and very excited for this
So good to see the old bench you started with
It´s very satisfying watching freedom being made, round for round :)
Great vid... on the fence on buying this kit and your video sold me on it.
sintoc1 how you liking it so far? Would you recommend it or would a cheap lee press be just as good?
Seeing you set the powder charger at 53 grains, for us newbies, would have been nice.
I would have loved to see how you setup the powder dispenser to give you the proper weight of powder each time. Great video. Thanks.
You are very polite. The Hornady powder measure is just trash.
The way things are going now with AR's and ammo, it's best to start reloading. I own the lock and load press and it works beautifully.

This looks like a good press for a beginner I want to learn how to and was looking at different presses
Most excellent video! I just got this kit and was looking for a video like this, just to show me the overall process.
I'm thinking about buying this kit to start reloading, and I was wondering if you need to have Hornady dies or if it will work with any brand
Great video, Just picked one of these up. I have a "leeloader that I have used for about 2 years( yeah the one you use with a hammer) Decided I needed to speed things up a bit.
Ok new to this. What all do i need in addition to the classic kit? Where can i get the die and bullets? I want to reload s&w .40
thanks for sharing, Im thinking of reloading and your video pushed me one step closer
Do you check the overall length of the round? Do you verify that you are getting consistent powder drops? Just curious.
So is this kit a good kit to start reloading? I can pick it up for $260ish. Or is something better? For 2014.
Good video. Like the 'lock and load' idea and really like the spent primer collection. Thanks
Why no case gage for over all length? And case trimming? You could be out of your head space range on all those loaded bullets
thats what i was wondering when he got to putting the bullet on, no trimming ? no checking ? i smell squib
it could of all been done during case prep or purchased new brass
Great video. With what you demonstrated about this reloader. I know I'm getting one now.
What about the oil in your finger not setting off primers
You have an amazingly clean shop sir. That is all. Carry on.
So the dies set up for the AP will drop right into the classic and not need adjusting?
Nice simple video mate. Thank you
It would be nice if you would show how to set it up???? Thanks for the video though.
When i swapped dies w/ a buddy from his lnl ap tomy classic press they still need adjusting. Im guessing the ap is shorter than the classic

Will the dies need to be readjusted when going from the auto progressive to single stage?
What about crimping?
great video. trying to decide between the rock chucker and the hornady. whats your opinion as far a making match ammo for rifles?
Does the Hornady manual only calculate for Hornady bullets? I ask because I see you are using Sierra bullets.
Hey gavin i could never find the follow up on how the positive priming system. Did you ever make that video. Thanks
You missed sll the most important detsils. Die set up etc
Why doesn’t it come with a tumbler or some kind of equipment to clean your brass
Because most people buy one separately, gotta think not everyone buying a press is cleaning range brass some guys only buy new or buy pre cleaned deprimed brass from others to save the time
Awsome video mate, looks like a quality bit of gear, but how did you measure the powder for each round?
Cabela's has this on sale for $279.99. I know this video is older but it's the same one.
LC if you haven't bought it it's prolly to late now. That's a good price
will this load a .338 lapua mag ?
Is this press compatible with all Lee Lock n Load dies?
It's difficult to find stuff right now, I want to start releasing my ammo, should I get one of these presses, or wait because of price gauging or inability to find primers?

can't you buy the expander die for this as well?
So I just got this press
It seems that the primer devise is getting stuck in the shell holder. It’s a pain any advice on how to salve this issue?
I've heard of this problem using the Lee shell holders but no Hornady, the solution is usually try rcbs shell holders is what I've heard
gday, was wondering if you can fit a .50 in this press?
Is it better to de-prime, debur, and then clean the cases?
+Thamac15 I was curious about this too when I saw your question; I asked my friend who reloads and he said he generally de-primes, cleans, then deburs but it's really users preference.
hi mate! great video. Can i ask why you didnt mention anything about trimming. (you probably did but i was to busy appreciating the kit!)
how do you change the shell holder!?
Sir
What material is the press made from? Cast iron or cast aluminum?
Thank you
George
Cast iron.
This one is aluminum. Tgey do make one made out of cast iron though.
man if Hornady ever made a turret press, it would be OVER for RCBS, Lee, Lyman, and everyone else!
Thank you veary helpful.
Where did you get the stand for your AP?
I want to start reloading, can I just buy this kit and start reloading or do I need to add on to this kit?

Thank you for the video
