I’m of two minds about this film’s story. I kept most of my toys from childhood, and I still think preserving them for future generations is a noble effort.
That said, when my nephew picked up some of my Ninja Turtles from when my brother and I were kids and started playing with them, I lit up.

Fun fact: the cowboy hat that Andy wears, is actually a big version of Jessie’s hat.
There’s a theory that Andy’s mom is Emily who previously owned Jessie but never got rid of the hat.
When Jessie sings about her time with Emily we can see owned the same hat and would eventually give it to Andy.

The song When She Loved Me was nominated for Best Original Song Oscar losing to You'll Be In My Heart from Tarzan.
There is a theory that Jessie's owner of Emily was Andy's mom as the timeline matches and the cowboy hat worn is the same that Andy has.
When they are flashing through the tv channels you can see several Easter Eggs of Picar shorts.
The singing voice of Wheezy at the end was singer Robert Goulet who people will know best as the singing voice of Mikey in Recess.

TV Show tie-in: the voice actor for Prospector is Kelsey Grammar, who played Dr. Frazier Crane on Cheers; Pig is voiced by John Ratzenberger, who portrayed Cliff Claven also on Cheers. The character Pig’s personality and voice inflections are a parody on the Cliff Claven character, something he keeps in all the Pixar movies he voice acts for.

Bug's Life came out between Toy Story 1 and 2. It was the first Pixar movie to have fake bloopers in the credits. I think Toy Story 2 was initially released without the bloopers, but they added them a couple of weeks later and released the movie with new marketing that mentioned the addition of the bloopers.
Every frame in the luggage maze scene took around 20 hours to render.

A big highlight for me seeing this in a packed theater was the elevator scene Stars Wars take off -- the joke had all the adults howling with laughter as evil Zerg discloses the secret that "I am your father!" and Buzz cries Nooooooooo falling backward down the elevator shaft. Classic. And folks who stayed through the credits got to enjoy the treat of the unexpected blooper scenes. I tend to agree with you, this one was even better than the first Toy Story!

I called the hotel where the convention was being held. I asked the fron desk if anyone had information on what time Jonathan Harris would be appearing. I was put on hold and a minute later a voice came on and said Helloooo in that very distinctive voice. They had switched me to his room by accident. I started freaking out running around the room with the phone in my hand but pulled myself together and asked when he would be appearing. Let me check my shedule ( how he pronounced it). He proceeded to give me his appearance times and added I hope to see you there. When I met him and relayed the story he got a kick out of it and graciously signed everything I presented. Unfortunately he passed away months later.

There's a magazine myth being pushed that Toy Story 2 was almost deleted during production. The fact is however is that the movie ( story, animation, etc.) was completely redone once it was decided that it's be a theatrical release. That anecdote is about a previous version of the film that was meant for video only release. Still, learning the production history shows how troubled they can be for films from a management standpoint.

13:38 - There is a fan theory (Which I don't think Pixar ever confirmed or denied) that Emily, Jessie's former owner, was *Andy's mom*, because: In the first movie, the hat that Andy wears is not Woodie's brown hat but the exact same red with white stitched edge hat as Jessie! So Emily could have inspired Andy's love of cowboys and Woodie because Jessie was her favorite childhood toy.

Tim Allen and Tom Hanks got to see a screening of the movie together before release and both were crying during the "When She Loved Me"sequence.
This was the first Pixar with the fake bloopers.
3 is fantastic and the real ending of the franchise for me(4 felt unnecessary. Not BAD, but 3 was like "Godfather II"or "the Dark Knight", the perfect ending and any followups didn't feel necessary.
The bloopers scene with Prospector/Stinky Pete has been said to reference Harvey Weinstein years before "MeToo".
"Bugs Life"is definitely worth watching(and is sort of a jokey version of "Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven").
There were some joking interviews after the movie, with Prospector admitting he likes his new owner and getting makeovers.
This was one of the last films of Jim Varney(Ernest/Slinky)before his passing. The other was "Atlantis:the Lost Empire").
