So you have wverytime the best Guzzi for any situation 😉 I love my Breva 1100 for longer trips and prefer my V7 850 in the city.

    Never tried a Guzzi but they're definitely on my list. I recently bought a Himalayan as I love the bike and the brand. It's great off-road and surprisingly peppy for a 450 mono. I've got 2 other bikes. 3 is a good number. Any more and they just wouldn't get ridden enough! I ride every day in all weathers. Bikes are life.

    Now, at 72 years old and riding bikes since 1968 all over Portugal and Spain , I have two bikes. The first one, a 2003 Moto Guzzi Breva 750 bought three years ago. I ever had good references towards Moto Guzzis from early paper magazines. I had a dream; driving that thing many people said:- Once experimented, one never want anything else. That's true. The other bike is a 2018 Royal Enfield Classic 500. Why two bikes? I like alternating intense sensations; not speeds.

    Thanks for sharing your great experience as a biker, Bruce.
    Guzzis are indeed very rational from a technical point of view: the geometry for the shaft transmission, a decently balanced and character ladden 90° V-twin, a quite low center of gravity, and cylinders facing the air flow for the best cooling - many things a Harley for example doesn't achieve.

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  2 дня назад

      Well said! Agree the design just makes sense, not something I’d ever thought I say about a n Italian bike. As for Harley, well…

    • @FrenchCrow
      @FrenchCrow 2 дня назад +1

      @@BikerTorque It is no insult to Harley Davidson to point out that by design the engine is poorly balanced and the rear cylinder poorly cooled.

    I used to have a Moto Guzzi Griso 12008v-SE, I fucking loved that bike so much, the feeling of that V-Twin was glorious, and the sound was better than any other bike I've ever had.
    Unfortunately the cylinders sticking out the side was a distinct disadvantage in an accident, where the bike slid on its side and tore open the cylinder head, the bike was written off because there was no parts availability. And since my hand was broken in the accident I had to get a DCT bike next to be able to ride without a clutch lever, and so now i'm on the Honda VFR1200FD.
    My next bike is going to be one of either the Yamaha MT-01, Honda Valkyrie, or Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello (if it's in my budget).

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  2 дня назад

      The V100 Mandello is wonderful, if you haven’t seen it already, check out our review. I’d take the V100 over a Valkyrie or the Yamaha anyway.

    • @calvinlondt3037
      @calvinlondt3037 2 дня назад

      @@BikerTorque true, but the price point is vastly different. In my country buying an MT-01 or Valkyrie would be around R120k-200k depending on year model and mileage, meanwhile the V100 starts at ~R300k new (it's too soon for there to be 2nd hand sales but they'd likely start at R250k at least).
      Too put into perspective, my 2014 Griso was R90k, and my current VFR1200 is R110k, and that's the upper limit of my affordability for monthly payments.

      @@Timeline916 at age of 37 last year I went on for a moto licence, got V7III special as first bike. Well V7 is awesome, first you can adjust valves in 15 minutes with minimun hassle, no chain, only final drive oil change, removing a rear wheel is like removing a wheel from bicycle, oil change is like on VW Golf MKI, there is also that Guzzi diag software for laptop, then the roughness and clonk sounds from gearbox makes you shift gears without looking at the dashboard, you can even feel that you put it in neutral, then again the bike looks amazing, it outshines sports bikes in looks, its even bigger in size, then...the bike is more of a cruiser handling bike, but its like mercedes car, maximum comfort, and the last thing is the sound, my bike has Agostini pipes fitted, the sound of an engine and pipes outshines and outlouds any sport bikes out there, it sounds like a Harley 1700cc, its not a bike, its an iron horse. 😊

    I had a V9, and on the highways of Queensland, doing any speed over 80, ANY SLIGHT ripple, bump or divot in the bitumen, would send a shock wave up my spine, so much so that I considered a V9 to be a modern interpretation of medieval torture devices! Without a doubt, it was the second worst bike I have owned. My worst bike was a Kawasaki 900 Vulcan, also murderous bump transfer, plus sphincter tightening handling on round abouts. The best bike? No doubt about that either, a Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport. BIG regret in selling that one.

      Over the years I have owned and ridden many, many, bikes. I currently have 4. Amongst them is a Guzzi V7 Centenario and a Kawasaki Vulcan 900. The Guzzi ranks among the best handling bikes I have owned and I regularly ride it at speed ... 140 kph plus (down some pretty unforgiving roads). Whilst it can be a bit harsh at the back, it has never sent any 'shock waves up my spine' in the conditions that you describe. I don't believe that the V9 would be very different. Also, while not as good as the Guzzi my Vulcan 900 is perfectly adequate, with handling that is just fine in round-abouts. I suggest that you look to your riding skills and/or the maintenance of your bikes !.

    • @jimellis2778
      @jimellis2778 2 дня назад

      @@zaphodbeeblebrox4574 Over the60 years that I have been riding, I also have had many different bikes, so if I say that I am a competent rider, I think that I'm not being modest, just honest. If you are able to ride a Vulcan 900 at highway speeds without pain, I am amazed! About my 900, I bought it second hand and traded it in on the V9 about a month later, so maybe it had been damaged/worn and wasn't up to scratch, though it was a pretty bike. I bought the V9 without test riding it, because I had previously owned a Breva 750 [ I enjoyed it ] and a 1200 Sport, [ I loved it! ] and where I went around a curve on the 750 at 60, feeling it was really fast, I later rode the same curve on the 1200 at 90+ and it felt great, so I expected a similar ride and comfort level from the V9. In order to get the V9, I rode 1,000 k.m. on the Vulcan, and within 100 k.m. of my return trip, I was truly regretting my purchase. When I traded the V9 in on a Honda, after 18 months and new shocks, which did nothing to help the agony, the bike shop owner later told me that he didn't believe me when I told him of the pain level, UNTIL he went for a 10 k.m. ride, he came back a believer. The new owner told the shop owner that he also agreed about the shockingly bad ride, and had ordered a comfort seat, I didn't hear how that went. So if you can enjoy a Vulcan with its 50m.m.rear wheel travel, then you probably wouldn't think twice about a V9 either, but then again... Trying one might convert your beliefs. Even a bike magazine made a comment that the V9 wasn't meant for highway riding, when I commented on my experience of V9 ownership, the magazine editor wrote "With a 50 m.m. wheel travel, what did you expect." Enough said. Just be glad you have such a pain resistant body.
