That ride-along was GREAT fun! So amazing what you do on an AT. I love hearing your Dirt Chimp accent and sense of humor again, it's been a while. For some reason the Chimps don't come up in my daily feed anymore. But you do, and now that I see your post, I'll have to seek them out, and see how they are doing. Oh, to be young again (and able to pick up an Africa Twin). I'm tempted every day to get back on mine, but it's for sale now, after buying a XL750, that I CAN pick up (so far). But after the engine and other protection mods, is almost as heavy as the naked AT was back when I was a young 67. If anyone wants to know, the Transalp, at 75% of the HP as the pre-2020s, is also about 75% of everything else about the AT. Comfort, power, ground clearance, more troublesome traction and ABS control are a few. But the pluses are, low seat height, easier to roll around, get out of tight places, to pick up, and looks exactly like a smaller version of my matte black AT. (I didn't want locals to know that I bought yet another motorcycle!) I would not recommend The XL750 for anyone wanting to downsize from the Africa Twin due to age and bike weight. But I also have no suggestion as to what the best option would be, other than maybe the overwhelming Aprilia Toureg promotion I'm seeing on RUclips, since the minute I bought my bike. But it's just hype...
I think it's great that you are still getting out! I had super high hopes for the Transalp. It sounds like it's great at touring. I would still like to try one though. I think you'll start to see some Dirt Chimp action soon, the season is beginning!
@@ericmcclure3725 I've found that the 790 needs to be highing in the revs to get the real power. It's a little counter intuitive when picking your way up a trail.
@@thatguyonanafricatwin Agreed. I think they fixed it a bit with the 890 getting a bigger flywheel, but my bike has to be moving or its a stalling disaster!

Definitely revalve on the cone valve forks on mt 790 Adv R Rally. No more loose fillings!
Good choice, did you do anything to the shock?
@@thatguyonanafricatwin Just a stiffer spring like the fronts because it came sprung for a 170lb guy...wtf KTM?
I have Ian at riders edge do my suspension, a must.
Absolutely!
RaceTech Springs and valves 💰
Nice, makes a huge difference!
Hi 👋🏻
Do you advice me to buy the 2024 africa twin for traveling around the world and off-roading ??
Have you regeared your Twin? It seems like you can almost ride it like a trials bike!
I am down 1 tooth in the front. Otherwise stock. Thanks! I wish I was that good, I'm happy with what I can accomplish 🤙
@@thatguyonanafricatwin That's great that the Twin is geared so low. I dropped a tooth up front on the 790 but it still won't creep like that!
