  • In July 2020, 32 student officers from the City of London Police passed out after completing 15 weeks of basic training. Guests were invited to watch the parade streamed live via Zoom from Guildhall Yard.
The ceremony features music from the band of the Welsh Guards and the City of London Police colour is ceremonially trooped on parade. Prizes were awarded to the highest achieving Student Officers. Commissioner Ian Dyson QPM and guest of honour, the Lord Mayor, address the parade.
During basic training, the student officers are taught about a wide range of topics, including law, police powers and procedures, diversity, counter terrorism, emergency lifesaving, officer safety training and interviewing techniques. They will now join one of five response teams in the City of London and complete a two-year probationary period before being confirmed as a substantive Police Constable.
