      @@marcusmezzano thanks! I appreciate the mic tip. I used to use a shotgun mic, but wanted to try this version. I think you’re right. The shotgun mic does sound better. I’ve been thinking about going back to that and this was the push I needed. I have a few more that are already recorded so you’ll see this mic disappear after that. Much appreciated!

    I've been watching my son for almost a year and decided to put on the gi last month at the tender age of 53. I have a wrestling background from HS, but never even realized that stand up and takedowns were a thing in jiu jitsu until just a week ago when we started rolling from the stand up position. In fact, I used to tell my son that I can't show him wrestling takedowns because they aren't legal in jiu jitsu. This is the problem with the "drop to the floor" method that is so common in jiu jitsu today. Even though my body is not at agile and strong as it was years ago, I feel more confident starting from the stand up.

    something a brown belt taught me at my gym was a foot sweep from a body lock, getting to the body lock by arm drag or any other way possible, and just kind of throwing them one direction and sweeping the foot in that direction, pretty low risk for me and decent success rate, little more challenging against wrestlers

  • @brentpieczynski
    @brentpieczynski Месяц назад

    I prefer the Russian Arm Drag, with shoulder slam so the individual has a chance to if not going for a projection throw. To mount my shoulder, for a passive shoulder throw so I can relax. This allows for a break-fall with a possible chicken wing armlock. if I then go to the ground. I am looking for how jujitsu differs from wrestling.
