😍🤩😍🤩 sooo Informative! really hadn't considered as much about Light and taking the time to consider the growth of the trees around my raised beds - this has a huge impact on me every year and it has just now dawned on me that taking those hourly photos as you suggested would help tremendously! WE LOVE YOU SOUTHERN DAISY!!
You are in for a treat! You are about to figure out where the issue is and take your space to the best level possible! I am so excited to see that lightbulb moment and see where it goes from here. I love you all BIG!
That's awesome! It's the best part of winter, isn't it? 😉 We are in for fun times ahead! Thank you for the info on what DR meant. I could not remember it for the life of me Ha!
For me “A Day late an a Dollar Short . I needed this information two months ago. I have seeds coming out of my ears. I have no idea what to do with so many seeds. My garden is Very Small and on top of that I’m dealing with a lot of SHADE and lots of deer. I have little garden space so I definitely needs to learn to plan. Every year I give away more than I’m able to plant. So thank you for sharing this information, so I’m learning to PLAN first. Again thank you ❤
hey I am just happy that even though there is some overspending in the past and crazy amounts of seeds that moving forward you have a better option. Give yourself some grace, I am in the same boat :-) I have a spray for deer that is unreal it’s so good. I am going to talk about it in one of my videos this week. Stay tuned.
Really helpful video. Brings up loads of important things to consider. I’m in the process of moving a shed and greenhouse to free up a space for a long full sun flowerbed.
People more computer competent probably know a very easy way to do this but I’ve done a to scale plan of my garden before and physically cut out different sized circles that denoted how wide various plants grow once established, labelled these and moved them around until I was happy then stuck them down. Bit geeky but was a fun way to spend a few days in winter 😊
my gosh that sounds like so much fun. I can see how that would be a great thing to do to spend a cold day inside. What a cool idea. If you will give me your name I will share about this and give you a shout out for the amazing idea.
That’s a fun idea for kids also! I homeschool and I am always trying to find new things to learn while outside. We did a kiddie pool square foot garden a few years ago.
Welcome to NC! What part are you in? Yes you can do that. You want to look for full shade and can do a mix of perennials, annuals and shrubs like Hydrangeas and Azaleas. Annuals would be impatiens, coleus, lupine and perennials like hosta, coral bells, Lenten Roses. There are so many options for shade! You could make it really pretty with an assortment.
Hello Kim. I just watched your video and I noticed that you have some lawn inside your fenced garden. Is it a hassle to mow around the beds. I have some raised beds right now and I want to add more and would love a pretty fence to enclose it all but I wondered about the mowing. Thanks
Yes! I do have pathways of grass. In all honestly it is a bit of a pain at times especially around the edges when I have to weed eat it. Most of the time it is fine and I don’t mind it. I think it looks pretty year round too. We mow it and it looks pretty. It does hold the ground well and was free so that is why I chose to stick with it instead of putting in an expensive ground cover.
I'm in middle Tennessee - zone 6b/7a now. It was 6a/6b. I learned last year that full sun didn't mean weeks of 95+ degree sun in August. Several of my plants got fried alive. It's just my third year of gardening here so it's like starting all over and I have a lot to learn. I moved from Colorado where gardening is totally different, especially when living above 6000 feet altitude and a very short growing season. I'm enjoying your channel.
Oh wow that is a HUGE difference to move from one to the other. I would feel overwhelmed with how to figure that out. Gardening is full of lessons and sounds like you learned some in the sun last year. I love that! Not that you lost plants though. This year will be better. Thank you so much for watching!
I never would have thought about the tip about putting the tall flowers in the back! Great advice
Thank you for these videos! Love the info! Alabama zone 8

Deer Resistant ❤ I learned this method from you last year, successfully and I have been saving water jugs all year! My favorite part of winter

Yay, I'm in central NC too! It's nice to find local garden channels. Looking forward to see your garden grow this year!
No way, where are you located? How cool is that!
Me too! It’s so helpful! I’m a bit north by the Virginia border but it’s so nice to see people near by!
Isn’t it. It’s a small world. Glad to have you so close :-)
@@thesoutherndaisyllc I'm in the Triad area!
I work in Greensboro! Small world
Thank you!
You’re so welcome!😉
My to-do list just got a little longer, but I don’t mind! Thanks for all the great tips! Love your videos, Kim!

You're very welcome, Lisa! It's fun to plan, isn't it? 😊
@@thesoutherndaisyllc yes it is!!😁
Great job teaching the basics. All of us need to get a refresher on how to plan a garden.
Oh I love this! Thank you so much :-)

I agree!!!

I love your videos
You are so sweet! Thank you so much! I love that you watch and find something good in them. I appreciate you so much!
Is there a reason you have a fence around your garden?
A HUGE reason….deer! They are always in my backyard all around my garden 😂
Oh, yes.. we have them too😩
New to NC, can you create a cottage style flower garden in a lot of shade. If so, what are some of your recommendations.

How do you keep critters from destroying your sunflowers?
I have a great big tall fence around my garden otherwise I have no issues
