This is what I got from this interview. Nelly always wanted to be with her...openly and freely, but she wanted to keep their relationship on the low. Then, over time, she realized she loved him and wanted to be open about their love. He probably was over trying to be open with her and decided to drip. I feel like they both made mistakes in the relationship. Being so young and in that industry, it had to be extremely hard. Then you had all the crap with Irv and Murder Inc.
I have always loved them as a couple. I'm happy they are giving each other a second chance at love.
They are definitely claiming each other now and showing their love and affection for one another. It's great to see. I pray and wish both nothing but love, peace, and happiness in their second chance. ❤

I think When Nelly was with Shantel, They had a more stable situation. I just dont think he was as in love with her. She was a rebound and gave him what he needed at the time. Ashanti knew that.
The statement about Shantel is so true. I watch it play out on Instagram and it was clear unfortunately for her, she was a rebound. first it was Lashonte Heckard (who left him cause he was still dipping with Ashanti) then a few months later he was on a date with Shantel at a basketball game shortly after her and Floyd broke up. I think that was just it for Ashanti. She’s very private so the public outings with other women was just too much for her, she was embarrassed and couldn’t go back at that point. Nelly is obviously a long-term relationship guy so the relationship with Shantel went on longer than expected. She wanted marriage and a baby though and ultimately Nelly would never give another woman that if he didn’t give it to Ashanti💕
I agree for the most part, except I don't think he cheated "early on." As Ashanti said, he was serious from the get-go and wanted to make it work, but she did not believe him. With all the pretty girls flirting around, plus what she saw other rappers doing at Murder Inc., she assumed Nelly was just one of these guys wanting her in his bed. By the time she took him seriously, he had probably started cheating out of discouragement.

I think Ashanti was trying to say the public took the relationship way more serious than it actually was. Nelly chased her and once got her and she possibly opened up he possibly fell back and things weren’t as major as the public thought.
