  • The Oaks at Point South | Campground Review | RV Life
The Oaks at Point South RV Campground is a great place with so much to do in the area. It’s also great for people passing through as most of the sites are pull throughs.
Our RV Life takes us to many campgrounds and we love to do campground reviews showing you what you might want to know before you visit. The Oaks at Point South is a small campground, with a pool, lake (with alligators), pavilion for gatherings, and a nice dog run, and friendly helpful people.
The campground recently acquired a new manager, Kathy, she was friendly and helpful and really wants to make The Oaks at Point South a great place. She said she makes sure the bathrooms are clean, she added furniture in the clubhouse and she is working on more improvements.
We love The Oaks at Point South Campground as it offers full hook ups with 30/50 amps service. Most of the sites are pull through and there is a good amount of space at each site.
The Oaks at Point South RV Campground is a great location, just off of I95. It’s location near great places like Savannah GA, Charleston, SC, Hilton Head, SC, a number of lighthouses and so much more to explore.
They are open to the public and open year round, we like The Oaks at Point South RV Campground for a quick stop over and to stay and explore the great places near by.
We are able to live full time on the road because of our Thousand Trails membership. Check out our video of honest talk about Thousand Trails, after a year as a member, • Thousand Trails Member... .
If you are interested in more information on Thousand Trails memberships reach out to call/text Jim Reneau (770) 622-4188, he and his wife are no pressure they just gave us the information to make the decision that was right for us.

One of the campgrounds I am planning to visit to see Charleston and Savannah. Great to know Hilton Head is nearby! Love the dog park! Thanks so much for the video. Safe travels to you both!

      You’re welcome.
Hilton Head was our favorite. We didn’t get to the lighthouses but want to go back to see them
Also, the town of Beaufort is 25 minutes away it has grocery stores, all kinds of restaurants, everything you could need and a nice walking area.

Thank you for this video. It great to see what to expect before we get there. We want to explore the area and this seems like a great place to do it from.
We weren’t sure about Thousand Trails but we will call to check it out.

I was put in a site with no sewer hookup, even though I reserved a site with full hookups. I wasn't informed of this until the next morning. Also some sites are too small for your rig and your truck, so you have to park your truck at the back of the campground. The biggest problem is the amount of trees. Due to the huge amount of trees, the ground is muddy days after any rain and the mosquitoes are atrocious during the warmer months. I don't recommend this campground for more than an overnight stay as there is an awesome KOA next door.

As always we appreciate feedback. And of course not all campgrounds are for everyone. As you can see we like The Oaks. I would imagine the mud, mosquito and trees would be the same at the campground just on the other side of this one but everyone should do what works for them.

No, the koa has rock covered sites, and leaves are racked up.
However, I have stayed at The Oaks many times, and several times, we have gotten a great site, but you never know, and all sites are asighned to you before you arrive. I have only stayed at the koa once, but I truly enjoyed it much better; however, I'm a thousand trails member, and I try to utilize that as much as possible.
The Oaks at Point South is our least favorite of all the Thousands Trails RV Resorts as this one doesn't have the upkeep that is needed to be an actual Resort. I am glad you had a wonderful experience, but I wanted everyone to know the whole scenario about this park, from someone who has stayed here several times and in different seasons.

@@djinncat I appreciate that. We were just there a few weeks ago and they are doing updates but you are right they aren’t Rick covered sites. I like what there is in the area and prefer to stay in TT when we can but KOA may be an option for people.
      Thanks for the info.
