Soft bristle brush followed by cleaning the hex coil fins, then pour water through. Lastly clean the condensate trap and reinstate and fill with water. Don't use the nylon drill attachments. As they remove the compounds the manufacturer puts on there to protect the hex coil. Basically follow the Mi's, it's not too difficult. 👍
"rubber seal" ?? Vaillant has mandated graphite seal on these heat exchangers. How can Baxi still have "rubber" type seals. They are known to fail over time and result in fire, hence change to graphite by Vaillant.

Water pump spray bottle helps for cleaning . With water .. not vinegar or coke .. water 😂

Do you still recommend a smear of silicone grease around the seal?
Look at the the manufactures instructions.
Why would you put silicone grease on that seal? It's only for orings or seals that are being pushed into something else. For gas parts graphite Lube
