    That engine was probably a straight 8 Pontiac engine maybe the 38 . My dad had a 1949 pontiac when we where kids never forgot those huge back seats wool upholstery and backseat heater and foot rests what a car it had a straight 8 engine dad 90 and I'm 65 . Things have changed over half century.

    That engine at 17 min was a compressor converted from an engine and the tank sat on top .

    I love how you really have respect for old relics and want to preserve them as they are found in the wild frozen in time.

    That was a Curtis air compressor at the beginning. Curtis has been making air compressors in the US since 1854

    That compressor in the shed is so cool, should be in a museum

    At 21:30 that was a straight 8 general motors engine, used in Pontiac cars. Cool! Amazing old air compressor with metal wheels. That would look good in a museum. I think you are right, there must be more mine somewhere; too many engines and other equipment for just a short prospect. Nice video, thanks for taking us along!

    That compressor with steel wheels likely dates from around 1920, give or take a decade or so. Nice find, thanks for the video.

    I'm with you, it seems unlikely that they would have built that workshop & hauled that huge compressor in for that 30' prospect. Plus all the extra engines and whatnot - gotta be a collapsed adit around there somewhere (and you know how much park & forest managers like blasting, gating & bulldozing mine entrances to "protect" us).

    Hub Cap - Pontiac with a depiction of a Native American. Similar depictions were used by Pontiac for hood ornaments.

    You found a Ford 4 cylinder, and then a straight 8 GMC Both of them are flatheads. There most likely was more portals into the mountain, but judging from the amount of erosion down the side of that hill, it is more than likely the adit to the mine has been covered over by the falling rock and soil from higher up the mountain. Cool little site though. Thanks for sharing!

      @@jasonk5979 Could be, maybe. A mighty small one. Channel author said 'engine' so I assumed he was correct. There is a modern Curtis engine company. but they began in the 1940's.

    How in the hell did they get that compressor up there?? Obviously in pieces by mule but wow!

    • @crazyfvck
      @crazyfvck Год назад

      @kearnsey64 Either that, or they had a winch in place at the top to drag everything up. Of course, the winch itself would have needed to be brought up there first in pieces ;)

  • @MikeAndJoesPlace

    That piece of a car is the cowl section of a '28-'29 model A Ford. The part facing up now would be the door pillars. No doubt it is related to the engine you found.

    why does everyone leave all of their broken trash laying around everywhere

    • @crazyfvck
      @crazyfvck Год назад

      @gerogescott249 When you are out in the middle of nowhere, it is often too difficult, or time consuming, or too expensive to remove all of your broken/unused/unwanted stuff. Especially for the time period that this mine was being worked, which was 100 years ago. And with wood and metal stuff, it's not really a big deal, because over time, it will degrade and break down, and eventually return back to the earth.
