I mean I am fine if we keep Belli. The thing with Boyd is that after Steele, Imanaga and Taillon, it's a bit shakey so they are trying to add some stability to the rotation. With Belli you now have 2 young guys that are looking pretty good at Belli's best spots. PCA and Bush. And they want to give Owen Cassie as many plate appearances as possible. So he is kind of blocking guys they really want to play.
@ If the Cubs are in a “win now” mode, losing Bellinger is a big mistake. Owen Caissie hasn’t had a full season in Iowa yet, and I’m sure the Cubs don’t want another Matt Mervis situation. If the Cubs are wanting to contend, Max Fried would have been a better acquisition. Removing Bellinger without replacing him with another solid major league bat makes me feel that the Cubs are risking taking two steps back in a year that they should be contending. I really like Busch and PCA. But, as far as PCA is concerned…I can see his potential, but, he needs to show a lot more plate discipline before he becomes the next big thing for the Cubs. And, the same applies to Michael Busch. I’m ready to call the Cubs president Jed Hoyer-flus…lol
This is exactly what I said to Setup Man when that was announced. Getting the pitching "guru" is a move to try and extract max value out of cheaper pitchers so the Cubs can avoid signing top tier talent because, you know, that's expensive.
@@michaelplowman8674 Don't think Seattle would want Paredes at all. My proposal, which I've been proposing since last offseason and everyone is playing catch up to me, was Hoerner, Horton, and one of Alcantara, Triantos, or Canario.
@@VegasLoungeAct Seattle got a .642 OPS from 3B last year. Paredes was almost 100 points higher. He's a definite upgrade to what they have now. And what you'd offer for even Gilbert would fall pretty short of being viable unless you included Paredes. Would I pull the trigger on Hoerner, Horton, Paredes, and Canario for Gilbert? Yes. I think that's a good deal for the Cubs.
There is a reason not to have the conversation re the Golden at bat. It’s called the Overton Window. Slowly over time such ideas become normalized if you keep discussing them. Better to nip this one in the bud.
Insane 2 trade ideas. Cubs would send Brown, Alcantara, and Triantos to the White Sox for Crochet. They also send Hoerner, Paredes, and McGeary to Seattle for Miller. Cubs would gain about 15M in CBT and have a really good rotation along with opening up some spots on the 26 Man. There's no pressure on Boyd and he can become a 6th man in the rotation and keep his innings down. Take that 15M saved and go get Tanner Scott to lock up the closer role 5/75 and see how Bregman would feel about 3Y100M to hold down 3B until Cam Smith is ready to take the role. The Cubs would still even be under the CBT with those deals.
@@VegasLoungeAct Really? The one for Crochet gives 2 two top 100 prospects and a guy who was promoted from the list and they are all either MLB ready or should be by 2026, which is exactly what the White Sox are looking for in a deal. The one for Miller gives Seattle major upgrades at 2B and 3B and I'll admit McGeary is a throw in. And that's exactly what they are looking for. Maybe you add in BJ Murray to the Miller deal. Who's giving up better offers for either?
@@VegasLoungeAct Brown's value is literally just below those two. Seattle probably wouldn't want Shaw because they are looking for proven MLB ready talent. But if I had to swap out Horton for Brown to get Crochet, I'd do it. The value is that close and Horton is at least a year away if not 2.
@michaelplowman8674 Horton was drafted in the first round. Brown was drafted in the 33rd. As far as their pedigree goes, teams would cover Horton more.
Every week with Lance, holy cow that's huge and fun news!
This was outstanding, subscribed to watch this weekly
If the Cubs are paying Boyd $14.5MM per year, no one can convince me that Bellinger is being paid too much.

Awesome pod. Insightful. Is this going to be a regular thing ?
Tyler Zombro signing probably means cubs are going to go cheap on all pitching

@VegasLoungeAct 100% totally well put, I wish I typed more lol originally
You're killing it Kyle. Great pod!!
I unsubscribed to your channel by accident! Sorry 😂 Great plan … having Lance as your weekly guest!
@@therealdjway man, if that would have been on purpose, I woulda been sad!
@ funny thing; I am on the fence about spending a dollar on this club until they change this bs “win on margins” attitude. Lolz
"trevor bauer" in 2024
Kirby or Gilbert. Not Woo or Miller.
Kirby would cost the Cubs Paredes, Hoerner, Rojas, Brown, and Caissie. Gilbert would let you not have to include either Brown or Caissie.
