Thanks for your respond Truman! I play on a Sterling Virtuoso Euphonium with a K&G 3,5D mouthpiece! I studied a lot of Arban and Clarke exercises to get the quick technique working! Good with studying on the piece. It's great fun!
Studying arban and clarke excercises will benefit all brass players in direct proportion to how much time is spent at it. Ya gotta chop the wood, everyone!
@@RobbertVosEuphonium I've been listening to this video on and off for years, basically since you put it up. I always come back to it because I can't find a better performance of this piece. I just listened to Steven Mead's take on the first movement, he plays great and all, but I think your interpretation of the entire first movement, especially between 3:08 and 4:40 is just the best way to play this thing. Fantastic.
I felt good about getting my BPM to 150... even tho 160ish is not much more, it feels exponential. I absolutely am astounded by this performance Mr. Voss. Definitely my favorite I’ve heard thus far.
Class! Very well done. I like the places he uses rubato in the slow ballad section. It makes the performance sound so special! He uses so much colour in his playing! Keep going, I would love to hear more like this!
I was looking for something to show a co-workers child who just started on the Euphonium to give him something to which to aspire... thank you. Very nice!
im 16 and have been playing the euphonium for about a year in concert band. im currently taking lessons so i can improve the fundimentals, especially my tone. You sir, are incredible and im using your solo as motivation
this is amazing... really miss my instrument and whoever told me that euphonium was not a solo instrument really did not comprehend the versatility or temperament of the instrument, but it is definitely the best of all brass instruments. This would have been so much fun for me.
You are incredible! I took a teaching brass course this semester at university, and we learned to play all the brass instruments. Euphonium was by far my favorite to play... I love the sound! I'm having my senior composition recital next year, so I want to compose a euphonium sonata. :)
I have studied with Piet Joris, tubaplayer of the Brabant Symphony Orchestra and I followed several private lessons with Bernard Berniers, Nick Ost, Thomas Ruedi and a lot more!
Defiantly a piece to really show what the euphonium has to offer. Both a beautiful sound and still be able to have fun (fast parts). Lots of inspiration. Thanks
BRAVO! That was absolutely amazing! Great tone, technique, AMAZING! What brand of horn and mouthpiece do you play on if you don't mind me asking? Also.. I'm trying to tackle this piece right now. What is the best way to approach it? An exercises I should to help me through some of rough passages in the second movement? Thanks, and again...BRAVO!
Magnificent playing!! Such beautiful tone and the runs are unbelievable!! I am looking to upgrade my horn, I play in a small ensemble at my church. Can you recommend a good horn in the $1000- $2000 range?? Thank you !!
Something that immediately stands out to me is the roundness/richness of your tone doesn't change abit from lyrical excerpts to technical sections. It never gets short, choppy or static-y in an effort to sound 'fast'. THAT is the mark of some serious wind & technique! I adore it... .. . On another note, please oh please tell me you've performed/recorded the 3rd mvmt of the Cosma???? :-)
Hello, the two up and coming euphonium players whom I really like are yourself and Glen Van Rooy, and I am wondering if you can tell me anything more what the cup inside your K&G 3.5D mouthpiece is like and how thick the shell is. I use a Parentucci 24T-4Cand like as deep a U cup as I can get with as thick a shell. Although, once I settle on what I really like long term, I would like to get my own design so I can mass produce them in the material I like which is vacuum spun cast pure CP titanium
I meant to finish my description, which is grade 2 in titanium. Giddings Webster UKhave had great testimonials from orchestral tuba players and also euphonium players and they do not even cast their titanium which is a more toxic alloy with vanadium I think. I would also like your opinion on Sterling as I am most interested in Paul Riddick who I understand was the last manger of Boosey & Hawkes. love my vintage Imperial valve compensating euphonium especially because of its thick vibrant bell
Just a question... What sort of level would you put this piece at? I've just done my ATCL and looking for new repertoire!! I assume this is more FTCL level. Any suggestions for repertoire would be greatly appreciated. Absolutely stunning playing btw. CRAZY PLAYING!!!!
Finbar Tellwright Thanks for your reply. I don’t know what ATCL and FTCL is so I’m not able to help you. Feel free to send me a message through the contact form on my website: euphonium.blog
This is definitely the BEST version of Harlequin.
As a euphonium player this is very satisfying to listen to.
Thank you!
I really hope you trust in the lord, may I hear your music in heaven forever.
I love the 2nd euphonium in the background it’s like a second side to the solo

Bless that tuba at the back, lol
Just a thrill to hear your artistry. Thank you many times over.
Ive listened to this over 300 times
Struggle to understand how 3 people disliked this tremendous solo by Robbert Vos!
struggling to understand how 36 have now disliked it... i guess they hate music?
*sigh* these comments are getting outdated now that youtube has removed the dislike count
Tuba players.
This performance is astounding...what's also astounding is the fact that 5 people disliked this...
Usually just dislike bots. Highly doubt that was a conscious decision. One of my favorite euphonium solos of all time
Such emotion in all of his performances. It's like the music tells a story. So beautiful, such talent. Thank you for sharing. I am a fan for life.
Many thanks!!

Ongelooflijk, hoe een euphonium klank de emoties naar boven kan halen. Heel mooie uitvoering en 🎩chapeau aan de uitvoerder 💐❤️👏

This sounds amazing. As someone who has studied under Dr Bowman and who has listened to many recording of this piece, this is truly fantastic.
My band teacher is a euphonium player and he plays the solo before class almost every day
What a showoff
That’s not the right choice of words :/
Amazing Euphonium sounds... I love that!!!!!
I was looking for something to show a co-workers child who just started on the Euphonium to give him something to which to aspire... thank you. Very nice!
Gotta love the tone you have… absolutely wonderful. beautifully played, one of, if not the best out there.

Are you still playing 9 years later?
12 years later?
Stunning! 👏👏
There it is. Right in front of my nose. Exactly the same. Probably the hardest I've ever seen... It's played beautiful, I must add!

im playing this (hopefully) for my last recital this fall

By FAR my favorite recording of this piece. Just splendid. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
This is making me want to buy a euphonium so badly, i haven’t been able to play in years! This is such a treat to listen to!
The hardest Euph solo I've ever heard.. and you've played it the best I've ever heard. Good job sir.

Witch Adams is this?
