The second movements are probably the least popular in all Beethoven sonatas; but they have such a relaxed feeling to them, it’s beyond this world. Also maybe the calm before the storms his third movements usually are.
Would love to hear the third movement of this one though, it’s among my most favourite pieces and have some crazy memories attached to it :D

This song means a lot to me. It was played by my mom on the flute on my 1st birthday. And since then it was used to get me to sleep. Few years ago, i remembered this song and now that i play the piano, i can learn this peace easily. Now i use it to relax myself whenever i feel sad and whenever i've lost all hope. This song brings my hope back and then i'll tell myself that it all will be alright.

I have a sweet story about this song, or at least sweet to me. My sister and I were recently visiting my elderly father, who is legally blind, somewhat disabled and homebound. He spends a lot of time on his recliner and listens to music, and he loves this particular melody. He told me that some words had come to him for that main melody, and he sang them for me, and I wrote them down. He was putting words that were dear to him along with this melody to express his heart, and I have thought about trying to record it for him. While we were doing this, my younger sister walked in, and said, "That sounds a lot like a Billy Joel song." Sure enough, Billy Joel used that melody in a song too - I did not know that! So I guess my 86 year old dad and Billy Joel have something in common, haha.
Thanks so much for this video! It is beautiful, and very helpful too!!

don't you love how this theme comes back in the middle (and in a very very very subtle way, at the very very end) of the 3rd movement?
Also, I'm sure I'm likely mistaken, but I don't believe it was all that common if ever done ever, to have themes from one movement of a sonata or a symphony, reappear in later movements of the same work. Far as a I know (and I'd need to double check to be sure,) Beethoven's 5th, and this piece, are the two earliest examples I personally know of, (there must be others, but am not yet aware what they may be.)

There’s something about this song. Usually I don’t like listening to modern music and even a lot of older music because some of them give me this sense of sadness and discomfort that I can’t explain. I’m not one of those “nowadays music sucks” that’s not me, I love a lot of modern music, but most contemporary music to me just makes me feel uncomfortable. However; this is the first song in a while where I find comfort in the way it sounds, it’s so beautiful to me I can’t really explain why. It helps me fall asleep, and something about how it slowly ascends and then descends back in the beginning just brings me so much peace…

That is the third song I am listening at 1 am in my bed, cause I was Always interested in music and I thought to myself I need to know the roots.
The song before was Nicole blanche and I read a comment that touched me and got some shy tears and then this one was just after. Couldn't help but having a little more

So glad I found this again, I started to learn it on flute and I love connecting to the emotion of the music

This is such a beautiful arrangement of Beethoven’s song, this song holds a place in my heart because it’s such a beautiful and emotional song , it was one of my aunties favourite classic pieces, she was a pianist herself... though she never made it big her playing was beautiful, and your playing reminds me of her, she was elegant with her touch and she was so talented, I bought a piano, and I’m going to carry on my auntie’s dream for her, and I’m going to learn this song for my family 💜 I love you Kassia, your an amazing pianist and your so inspirational.

My grandmother passed away last saturday, at 101.
Always had mixed feelings about her. She was overbearing, overwhelming, strongheaded. She really didn't know any better. Things were right or wrong, simple as that. And I was mostly wrong in her eyes.
The only thing I ever did that made her visibly proud, and cry, was when I learned this piece.
I guess some things can only be said through music.

This is beautifully played and a rather unique and unusual emphasis on the piano keys going up into smoke but it’s really well done and doesn’t distract from listening to this lovely sonata.

This almost made me cry, it's beautiful...
I would play this piece exactly as you have played it! Most of the pianists exaggerate the forti that appear in two sections of this piece, but I think that since Beethoven wrote "Adagio Cantabile" (for the ones who don't know what "Cantabile" means, it's an Italian word that hasn't a true translation in English, but you can translate it as "Sing-able"), this Movement should be played using the force of gravity, not the muscles of your arms, and in some cases the muscles of your hands either, even in the sections that are marked as Forte.
You clearly demonstrated us that you are a "Major League" Pianist, flawless technique, indisputable expression, lovely smoothness in movements etc.
    Nice Job!
