Here's a bit of context: A "duped" item in TF2 is an item that has been duplicated via a glitch. Generally, a duped item will have a much lower value than its original counterpart. The idea behind a "duped shovel" is that it'd theoretically be the least desirable item in the entire game. After all, who would use the stock shovel, much less one that was duped?
My friend Orna thought this was funny, and wanted to buy one just for the sake of having one. However, when he started asking around on a trade server, the admins were giving him a hard time. As they said, "nobody would actually sell you a duped shovel." Hearing this, my friends and I decided to join the server and have a little fun.

i went to backpack.tf to see what the price on a strange shovel even was and now there are at least 5 buy orders for strange shovels all of which specify that they are buying duped shovels. they are buying for 5-7 ref and one ofr 4.41 keys or 4 keys 18.33 ref, good job OrnaBug
How would people at this point even know which items are duped? The big duping wave was like 6-7 years ago, I'm pretty sure it's no longer possible to dupe. And since it's also impossible to search a database unless you are Valve to compare if a random item has a "twin" with the identical original ID, unless you see two such items side by side in a backpack how would you even know? Not that anyone ever wasted effort on duping a strange stock item...

To be honest firepowered admins are so sensitive and bans users too quickly and over little things, sometimes they even kick people for violating rules that don't even exist or telling people doing something is okay but ban them for doing so anyway.

I have never played TF2 and I have no idea what’s going on.
Basically one of the classes is the Soldier and his default melee weapon is a shovel. The intro says the rest.
And he wants a strange duped shovel (a strange means it's rarer and counts your kills, hence the question "do you want a killstreak on it" in the beginning when SoundSmith offered a duped shovel himself)
OrnaBug was trying to buy a duped shovel from people on a trade server with keys (Keys for boxes and metal made by smelting weapons are the two main currencies, with keys being more valuable). However trade servers are usually for cosmetics and unusual effects (unusual effects are basically particle effects and shit you can put on hats, which are the most valuable items in the game's economy).
