I was in Bali 22 years ago, it s true I loved UBUD much more than any other parts of Bali…! As watching your video, I wanted to go back to UBUD , the vibes & energy here are ver strong (so true)!
Was in Bali back in 1993. Stayed in a Losman for less than $5.00 a nite & that included a small breakfast brought to your room. Very nice. Spent a few days in Ubud & the surrounding area, even nicer ! Didn't seem to be any traffic in 1993. Glad I experienced it back then before the traffic & the hordes of tourists arrived.
Just left Ubud yesterday. Totally stayed there 6 days.
Let's be honestly, me & my wife felt nothing.
Everyone is trying to sell you something or invite to those shop or cafe / restaurant again for selling you something.
I have no idea what kind of "relax" people are talking about when they speak about Ubud / Kuta or other places SW of Bali.
I feel Bale as overvalued place without real soul on the South, just European restaurants and again everyone trying to sell you something.
By the way it's not that cheap as you can expect.
I felt great in North Bali and especially Nusa Penida.
Stayed there for over 1 week and really enjoyed.
People are calm, not so much tourists, place is calm.
My final conclusion:
Ubud - overvalued and I don't like to come back.
Bali - is not really "paradise", I will definitely not come back soon.
Just crowdy touristic overdeveloped place.
Nusa Penida / Center > North Bali ♥️

Totally agree. Ubud is one of the best place in the world. Always spend few days there everytime I went to Bali. Feels like coming home, connected to Nature, get away from works and busy.
yes i have been ones at 2017, i visited the monkey forest only, from what i have seen a lot of places in bali is crowded with a lot of traffic.
I have been to ubud last month with my family.. We had good time and weather is better in ubud than Kutta, chunggu,..

Don't go where the tourist go is pretty much my philosophy for life , if you want a real adventure go ride across the islands to see the komodo dragons , they are proper mysterious .......Thanks for your videos Gabi , for real

I was able to meet him in 2017, as I was part of the staff of the NVC retreat at Arma resort. Very nice man, fascinating stories and his resort and gallery are beautiful
@@ridewithgabi 2017 is a long time ago....you should meet him again...Bali changes and Agung Rai is still interesting and we can learn a long of him...Take time by travelling, and meeting balinese people..
Going next April. Stay away from south Bali for sure.

Ubud is what i call art overload. Everywhere is arts and crafts. I love Ubud, love the monkeys too and the street food.

@@ridewithgabi i only like to photograph the monkeys. I ger scared if they too close. We have ricefields in my town. But none of those nice Balinese houses, not so easy to replicate.

Things have changed- DON'T GO!!! Every month prices DOUBLE as more and more tourist (esp Russians!) come with CRIME getting out of control! No one wants to admit it, but STAY AWAY!!! Thailand is beautiful, safe and CHEAP!!!

We have just subscribed and as new vloggers ourselves, its great to get inspiration. We have also just arrived in Ubud.
Been to Bali a number of times but not for a number of years. My fav eating spot was the 3 monkeys which had rice fields out side it. I think its still operational according to google maps. Found it a special place but I see its getting a lttle crazy. Think your right in getting outside and just visit when you need something.

can you imagine how you feel if you go to another island with no tourist, and is about 17.000 island ,Bali is just tiny island with bunch of problem with the tourist , traffic ,etc .but people still amazed .
The problem i have in Bali, ubud and around, is that i always got that Bali Belly from food, even taking probiotics nothing works, always sick. There are many clinics that treat and me and other friends got sick for over 2 weeks, needing antibiotics, IVs vitamins and more to restore the damaged stomach
Heyhey Gabi, quick question bout renting a bike in Bali these days.. would a normal drivers license be enough or do you actually need one for bikes too? Cheers!
Ubud is the place to ACTUALLY get things done. (eg: writing books, making arts). Canggu is the place where you "pretend to work" even though you're just there to party.
I can say that living on Bali for many years I loathe driving to Ubud for anything. The streets are dangerous and tiny ,packed with vehicles. The arts are well represented and the food choices are abundant but it's harsh driving conditions and I'd rather go to far less touristed areas of Bali.
the Government should limit tourists. Limit Traffic time. Ban a lot of drunk tourists.

I feel home in Ubud. I came here, I was pulled here to come and I love it. I love the nice nature, the nice restaurants, the 2 degrees less temperature than at the Beach Parts and the LOVELY people. This is the first time I see a Religion and a culture really working the way it should be: Human!

How is Ubud now since tourists aren't allowed to drive scooters anymore? And what is the best option to explore the region now?

Bali reminds me of the Julia Roberts movie Eat, Pray, Love because some of the movie was filmed in Bali and Bali is beautiful and exotic looking, good video Gabi 😊
Totally :) especially Ubud. In 2016 I lived for 8 months in a guesthouse right next to ketut liyer. He died during those months, he was 100 years old.

30 usd that is too much eve you can get 500 usd for same room for month. Ubud is still overpriced and traffic is worse now. Btw I am staying in Ubud too so yeah thanks for showing Bali. But it is not as nice as it used to be
Yeah we booked on Airbnb for 10 days, so I guess prices are a bit higher than local places and monthly rentals

I don’t know what or how but you have brought back so many memories and so many feelings of that fabulous country. whenever I overcame a depressive episode, I travelled afterwards to Thailand, and yes, I realized work is not everything and just appreciate the simple things - love Bali, thank you for a great video Gabi. I love that you can wear your baggy clothes and no-one cares xxx
