    Reviewing the Gerber NXT Suspension, the newest version of a classic multitool. The NXT is significantly thinner and lighter than the Classic, but has less tools, and features a pocket clip instead of a belt pouch. The NXT is a solid choice in the light and fast budget-friendly category. Current price is around $25, with many even lower deals likely to spring up in real stores around Xmas time. Competitors include the Classic Suspension and the Gerber Truss, which both have a wood saw added. If you want a US made Gerber, consider the Gerber MP800 Legend. Full list of Gerber multitools and other budget multitools included in the text description box. Enjoy! :]

    Great review! Ty. I got my Suspension classics, when Berber was introducing the NXT, two for the price of one ($26!) a couple of years ago. I like the NXT shown here, but I'm sticking with my Surge, Rebar, and Blast.

    I own two of these products by Gerber, and I am completely satisfied with them. But I purchased one of these in September of 2023 during the upsurge in economic inflation and that newer NXT cost me $39 without tax at Home Depot.

    Great review of this "entry level" multi-tool, sir! As a fairly experienced multi-tool user, I have several others, including the Leatherman Wave and the "original" Gerber multi-tool with the slide-out pliers. Though the Wave is very nicely made and has a highly functional toolset (saw included), I find that I much prefer the spring-loaded plier design like this Suspension NXT has, as well as the Phillips head on the Gerber, because it actually locks. And while the knife blade is small, it seems sharp enough, and does the job for an "urban handyman" like me. Having only tested it briefly thus far, my only complaint would be that the lock/release mechanism (and also the tools) on the belt clip side, are extremely stiff, and difficult to deploy/unlock! Perhaps a drop of machine oil would solve the problem? At the price point, however, IMHO, it's certainly more than adequate for light-duty work. Thanks!

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for weighing in with your insights, I agree the NXT is quite good considering the affordable price, Wave is great but most workers will not buy in that price range.

    I wish the U.K. got these cheaper multi tools in. I can’t believe how good some of them are!
    And do you have and idea where I could get taller thumb studs for a 940?
    As well as metal scales for Spydercos? (Preferably Black.)
    And on multi tools, can you get deep carry clips for them?

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  4 года назад +1

      Ah yeah, I have heard these are $60 in UK? Not sure about the thumb studs, sorry bro :]

      @@WeAllJuggleKnives I actually can say I seen for sale in the U.K.?
      I have seen the flagship multi tool that looks pretty good for the money.
      I’m really wanting to get that multi tool that’s a clone of the Wave.
      Was it Next tool that made them or Ozark trial?

      @@WeAllJuggleKnives Yes some sites are selling them for £50 which is about $62, there is one selling them for £37 plus £4 postage which would convert to just over $50...so still double what you pay in the US, that's just £20! Leatherman are eyewateringly expensive over here, a Squirt is minimum $50, if you can find a Juice S2 it's going to set you back at least $120. The Wave, Surge etc run into hundreds of dollars.

    The wire stripper notch works best folded towards the handle and twisting the wire in it.

    Great review as always!
    Keep up the great work
    Which one do you prefer in combo edge knives for overall use?
    Serrations near the tang of the blade like in this one or serrations near the edge like the 111m Victorinox OH blades?

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  4 года назад +2

      Thank you, my friend. I prefer serrations on the belly towards the tip, since those are better placed for a slash and they don't get in the way of up pushing cuts with the straight part of the edge.

      Consider the Leatherman Rebar, a great all around first multitool.

    • @edisontrent5244
      @edisontrent5244 4 года назад

      Probably because unless you use tools everyday and may find yourself away from your toolbox they are expensive and less efficient than any of the single tools they include. I unfortunately have a different problem. I have collected a number plus swiss army knives. In our current world situation I may daily carry a victorinox evogrip s18 and leatherman ps4 - having gone for years only with the leatherman. I have wasted plenty of time finding an ideal tool for me, in the end you can probably meet 90% of your needs with the leatherman ps4.

    Are there any multitools that fulfil all ten functions, as defined by me below? All the ones I have seen leave off at least one or two. This is just how I break it down. If there's more than one function to a number, it's got to have both to get credit for that number. I do that to simplify the list and to limit the importance of trivial tools that multitools should have. A combo blade counts as 1/2 for regular blade and 1/2 for serrated for a total of 1, not two. If you know of any models that tick all the boxes for a perfect 10, and are decent, please let me know and I'll probably buy them.
    1) pliers/wire cutters
    2) regular blade
    3) can/bottle opener
    4) regular screwdriver(s)
    5) Phillips screwdriver
    6) saw
    7) awl
    8) file
    9) serrated blade
    10) scissors

    • @dpg227
      @dpg227 4 года назад

      Yes it did. Why did they have to discontinue that? I also noticed there was a Leatherman Pro, which looks similar or identical.@@WeAllJuggleKnives

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  4 года назад

      I heard that the patent was about to run out, so they discontinued it. They should bring it back though, because I have seen copies of it and they were very poorly made. Also the UK loved the Juice.
