Experience the Thrill of Hanoi Train Street Vietnam September 2023

- This is the 3:00pm train passing by on Hanoi's "Train Street" in the Old Quarter.
The street is Ngõ 224 Lê Duẩn and tourists gather just before the train arrives. Several of the locals help keep people out of the way, including the one lady here yelling "It's Time" when the train is approaching.
There is a white painted line on the sidewalk which is basically the "if you cross it you will die" line. It's a pretty intense experience

I once worked for a coffee shop here. Everytime the train comes, we have to set tables and chairs aside, telling everyone to sit down. Sometimes people suddenly rush to the middle of the rail for a picture right before the train comes, that scared me to death 😂 I hope everyone will care more about safety when travelling
How many times a day the train comes?

Don't lie.. Why do you have to lie for some likes? Damn...
I like the lady how she instructs everyone and makes sure of their safety. Probably might be a guide.
she was one of the restaurant owners on the strip. did a good job of instructing on where not to stand and keep everyone safe
bởi vì, nếu có tai nạn xảy thì chính cô ấy phải ngồi tù và việc làm ăn của tất cả mọi người trong khu vực sẽ không còn nữa. Hiện tại việc bán cafe dưới hình thức này bị cấm.

True. The amt of stress dealing with those "F arnd to find out" tendencies coming from tourists. Where's that famous "when in Rome act like Rome" Idioms that should've been practiced? See the locals move the f out of the way should already be a clear sign, no need a nanny to request you to take cover 🤦🤦🤦

@lleheer752 With the way things are, do you REALLY think the train was there first? No! In places like these rich companies can and will run a train tracks thru poor neighborhoods like this where small shops were already setup. They don't pay them to move and they can't afford to move. So they do the best they can and keep their shops open. So when she says get INSIDE, you best believe she means it!

Genuinely curious to know why they have something this close to a moving train. Is it that crowded? A lil barrier would be safer option than someone shouting.
It's crazy how tight of a space this is I'm in Canada and the tracks are so far away from everything and so many safety precautions
Me too, I can't imagine what it'd be like to be that close. In Canada, we got the gates closed before the train even arrived to stop all cars and pedestrians. I won't wanna be there taking selfie and risking my life 😂
Perceived value of life is much cheaper in undeveloped countries.
Because of "Lawsuit-Western-Nations"
@llw2606 Nah, locals have the brains to know how to be safe when the trains come. It's the tourists from "developed" countries who mostly get into trouble and don't value their lives. They be pulling these kinds of stunts even in their home countries that have more safety features
the railway wasn't always that close to buildings, but Hanoi grew. it's just bad urban planning, or rather lack of
The train driver - I am a star everyone wants to take picture of me 😂
A few years ago they wanted to do something similar to this on the london underground.
Quite a number of cafe owners wanted to set up coffee tables etc on the circle line either side of the tracks but thanks to the mayor of london it never happened which was a shame as it would have been quite a tourist attraction.
The flowers must be for the people who wouldn't move back.

Welcome to Vietnam
You mean this train alley experience? Or Vietnam overall visit?
Beautiful country, great food
Too dangerous risk of organ harvesting and trafficking.
Я была во Вьетнаме прошлой осенью, рекомендую,Вы получите гастрономическое и эстетические наслаждение.
In fact, this alley was once closed by local authorities because it could be dangerous. But tourists are so excited about this so-called "danger" that local authorities have introduced some additional regulations to ensure everyone's safety and allow reopening.
And remember that no one is forcing you to come here, those who come here are completely voluntary because they want the so-called "adventurous experience". Actually, this is just a normal thing for people living in this neighborhood and is not as dangerous as you imagine.
What about skydiving, swimming with sharks, bungee jumping...?
If you're scared, you can play another game. And if you don't want to leave the house, order a pizza+fries+hamburger and stay home to play games.

@@amitt7953 I don't usually respond to people as rude as you, but here we go: If you're in such a wonderful moment in your life that may or may not have the chance to happen again, why worry more about filming that moment than actually experiencing it? Usually people are doing this to post on their social midia to show other people how happy they are or to affirm themselves. It's not like our parents' time where they took a photo or made a short video to record that moment just for the family. People are increasingly alienated, they do things without even knowing why. They go with the flow and no longer have the ability to evaluate the world and events. The media is doing this to people and many of them don't realize it
I'm glad they filmed it because I wouldn't know about it otherwise. I'm not sure why the train was a tourist attraction though.
