Tip for photographers that I do with post work of my 3D art for TikTok and Reels: post the process. Right when you begin a project hit the record button. Pick a small section of the recording and speed it up using CapCut or any video editor of choice. Set a simple fade transition to the final piece. Throw a trendy song behind it. Throw some tips of the process throughout if you like. It's a quick and easy way to show your work.

Great video as always. I think Instagram is dying overall as a whole and pushing reels hard is Meta's last ditch effort to try and mimic Tiktok as much as they can to keep people on the app. Meta can't stand the overwhelming competition TT brings and for good reason. Gen Z doesn't use IG as much and anecdotally speaking, the app overall has gotten a boring, stale reputation with many people I come across from 18-35. It's about time for a new platform though. Out with Meta, in with the new.
I totally agree. I am trying out reels now and have see more engagement for sure. My problem is consistency and being able to prepare reels in advance. I would love a video on your process with that.
Honestly with the fact of Instagram moving to strictly being a video sharing platform and Facebook/Meta trying to do the same, plus with TikTok announcing today that they are extending the length of videos to 10 minutes to compete with RUclips now, I am finding photography has became a dying art form and may soon go the way of the dinosaurs in favour of video online and there will be nowhere for photographers to share their work beyond their own websites.
Completely agree with you! Now when I go out to shoot, I gotta get used to having video content at the back of my mind, like ‘how can I shoot a video for reels around this photoshoot?’. It can be frustrating sometimes
I'm not a big IG poster, but I'm still having the opposite effect. I get the most views on my stories, and then my photos get the second highest followed by longer form video content. So bizarre.

This is assuming you only take photos to get views, if that's the only reason you take photos you probably aren't really a photographer anyway, your a fad.
It's not dying, you can now use photographs to scam people with NFT's! But, yes.. I hear ya.. wouldn't say it's dying, but it sure is something that big apps don't have an interest any more.
I actually spend a lot less time looking at instagram because of reels. I generally skip by them. But as you say, that is the new direction so the majority of the posts are becoming reels. So I just end up closing the app.

I will never make a reel. Ever. I take photos, not videos, and have no interest in doing videos. Photography is just a hobby of mine so I could really care less about growth. Sure, growth would be nice, but that's not what it's about for me personally. I know plenty of other photographers in my area that also have no interest in reels. Doesn't seem right for us to be punished and get our posts buried under everyone else's because we're not doing what IG wants us to. We're overdue for a new platform. Something specifically for photographers, like what IG used to be back in the day but better.
No offense to you, but I hope more people think like this so I can post more reels and get more exposure :p It’s a shame though because you can whip up a really nice picture pretty fast with just a few layer masks in photoshop, doing that with a video is a way different story.

I have been posting my nature photography photos for a year and usually get between 100 to 360 likes. I made a reel with a compilation of photos with some good quality video footage and made sure it all linked together nicely along with the music... I got about 8 likes for it 😂 I think it still depends on the audience that we build more so than hacks
The best way to stop IG from changing is to continue posting weekly quality photographs. If we only use it as a photo-sharing app and diginal portfolio, it will remain as such. I do feel bad for people that try to make a profit directly from social medial platforms rather than brand deals; it's a hard game that is not designed for their personal growth.
@@rachel.isabelle The problem is that the vast majority of reels now are stupid tiktok-like ones that are only created for views and not by actual artists promoting their art. So even if photographers completely stop doing reels, there will still be all that noise to compete with for eyeballs.
As a consumer I dislike reels, I don't see their value on Instagram. There are almost never anything useful inside the reels anyway. RUclips is for video! Insta for photos... :D I see why creators like you are forced into this, it is not a negative thing in itself. My personal opinion is that the insta algoritm sucks though.
I'm the same. I use IG to post and view photos. I skip past all the reels most of the time as they are practically just all the same few songs/concepts ( I maybe stop and actually watch 1 in 50?). If I want short videos I head to TikTok - I find posting there does far better for videos too. Posted the same video on IG and Tiktok: the Reel stopped at around 2.8k views, and no new followers. The TikTok is at 350k and still going up, with about 350 new followers from it so far. It's annoying IG keep pushing features nobody wants (my feed is probably 70% reels, 20% suggested or sponsored posts from people I don't follow, and 10% photos of people I follow), and has completely killed reach on photos (for many people anyway - my last posts were shown to maybe 5% of followers at most). I've actually not bothered posting anything in a month as none of my stuff is being shown to anyone. And now annoyingly will be forced to make reels (which take a lot more time) if I even want a chance of my work being seen. Being able to make videos is a good thing, but photos (which I prefer both taking and viewing) are basically dead now.
Nothing wrong with opening up the app for more videos. But with too many algorithm adjustments and abandoning photos Instagram is moving I the wrong direction and I haven't met a single person that likes this. They are not listening to their customers, and opening the door for a new app to emerge on the original principles Instagram was founded on. I really hope that app comes along soon. Instagram, you are not tik Tok, get over it!!
Your skit is definitely relatable. My main focus has been travel photography, but now I need to post more videos and reels. On the bright side, it motivates me to work on my videography skills!
To my surprise, this is POWERFUL. I've been working 11 hour shifts, 6 days a week and freelancing on my "time off" so my social media has been on the backburner. Dropped tremendously, to ~3k views a month, posted a couple of reels over thr past few days and have been hitting that daily. Thanks for the tip!

One of your best videos I've seen, above that, one of the best videos I've seen. Love it when the title seems click baity but then the video over-delivers on even that expectation. Great info thank you! May have to learn reels after all.
I already had close to 30K followers, but this past year I have been so stagnant. I was doing most of what you mentioned in this video, instead of asking for follows and using 3/2 hashtags. I literally just tried it, and 10 minutes after posting gained 7 followers. That the quickest gain I've had from a video in close to a year. Thanks for the tips.
Fun thing I experienced. I just gained 100K+ views & 1K+ new followers on TikTok for a video I posted back in December despite being inactive for a month on the platform. On IG despite the same video (minus the TikTok logo) posted at the same time, with me be inactive for the same length of time, I got zero growth. In fact, I am losing followers lol. IG is dying and the algorithm changes every other week. It's frustrating people and pushing them over to TikTok. If IG cannot slow down with the changes or at least stop pushing people to do what it wants and let the people decide, it's going to lose this battle.

Your video helped me out a lot! Ok I've been seeing that some reels seem to get more engagement than others even if the theme is the same or the videos are the same but still, some get peaks, others not so much... never the less I keep doing them and seeing the results.
This confirms what I suspected hahaha! We recently started pushing heavier on IG and videos are definitely the way to catch more eyes. QQ Chris: If I upload a video as a post instead of a reel does it affect viewability? Thanks for making this 🤙🏾🐾
I've been working over the past month on proving the same theory. I tired posting my best photos every day for a month and my account lost so much engagement I had to stop early. Will also be making a video on it soon! This video was a great confirmation to know I am not the only one

P.S Thank you for the a7iii again my dude, I absolutely love it! My fingers are ITCHING for the snow to die off so I can take my car out and get some much needed shots of her haha
I have been posting my nature photography photos for a year and usually get between 100 to 360 likes. I made a reel with a compilation of photos with some good quality video footage and made sure it all linked together nicely along with the music... I got about 8 likes for it 😂 I think it still depends on the audience that we build more so than hacks
that skit in the beginning… really good 👍🏾
The best way to stop IG from changing is to continue posting weekly quality photographs. If we only use it as a photo-sharing app and diginal portfolio, it will remain as such. I do feel bad for people that try to make a profit directly from social medial platforms rather than brand deals; it's a hard game that is not designed for their personal growth.
yeah I was thinking this...if everyone stopped posting reels they'd have to change the algorithm
@@rachel.isabelle The problem is that the vast majority of reels now are stupid tiktok-like ones that are only created for views and not by actual artists promoting their art. So even if photographers completely stop doing reels, there will still be all that noise to compete with for eyeballs.
Just started out creating car context with Instagram being our main focus. We’ve definitely been seeing a lot more reach with reels.
How did you do that , was it posting strats
I’ve binged three of your videos. I had to stop and go back three times to like them 😅
As a consumer I dislike reels, I don't see their value on Instagram. There are almost never anything useful inside the reels anyway. RUclips is for video! Insta for photos... :D
I see why creators like you are forced into this, it is not a negative thing in itself.
@@cwaddell171 People in comments have said Twitter has become the new spot for pictures. So I'd say head to Twitter and maybe make a blog.
Absolutely agree👍🏻
Omg I just want like an hour of these skits. That’s so so funny! 🤣
The beginning is so hilarious 😂💗
I subscribed just from the intro lol you're adorbs! This was super helpful and entertaining! Well done!😄
Legendary Intro!
Your skits are amazing, I love the acting!
oh man... the opening was so good
by far the best explainer and pretty engaging, loved the initial sketch, want to learn more from you
Man you're genius 🙂
I absolutely just "subscribe" the moment the tag came from the envelope ✉️. That's a genius command strategy.
Bless you all watching this great content.
No BS!
One of your best videos I've seen, above that, one of the best videos I've seen. Love it when the title seems click baity but then the video over-delivers on even that expectation. Great info thank you! May have to learn reels after all.
The skit in the beginning was so funny! And relatable!😂😂😂
Hahaha your skits are top notch man. Solid work. 🙏🙏🙏
LOVE THE INTRO 😍 Edutainment at it's best
PS: any chance sharing this on my Instagram account ?
I already had close to 30K followers, but this past year I have been so stagnant. I was doing most of what you mentioned in this video, instead of asking for follows and using 3/2 hashtags. I literally just tried it, and 10 minutes after posting gained 7 followers. That the quickest gain I've had from a video in close to a year. Thanks for the tips.
That skit was halarious!
Dude that skit has me cracking up over and over again . Well done
As a new creator, I subscribed to the newsletter!!! So pumped!
Thanks for joining homie!
Thank you so much for this! Super helpful and I love how humorous you are! That skit at the beginning was gold 😂🙌
That was really enetertaining! I like the sarcastic vibe in the beginning 🙂 Great content strategy, it is proven to work. 👍
The intro is fucking fantastic Chris! Bravissimo acting chops! Ha!
Thanks for featuring me Chris!
Awesome to see a little tutorial on Instagram for new upcoming creators 🎉🎉
Let’s go man! Keep up the great work.
Definitely seen more response from reels recently than just a photo. Thanks for the informative video!
Atta boy Chris! Well done buddy. Like the good old pool days 😁!
I agree with you. Just about the same thing happening with me
New RUclips creator from outside the GTA, trying to figure out how to grow. This video was just what I needed! Hilarious and informative at the same time. Subscribed and now I am going to try and implement what I learned here. Thanks!
That Intro was BRILIANT bro!
Great video! Love the skit at the beginning, super helpful thank you!!
Hahah I loved the intro, thank you for this!
I watched this sketch you did in the beginning of the video twice. LOL I love love love your channel. Official super fan. So inspired. Thank you!
The wallet thing really made me subscribe, amazing
So funny the first part ! Thanks for all info bro !
That was very useful. My Instagram game is nonexistent and I have more than a few ideas now!
Note: "The power of suggestion" is not the correct label for "asking for something". Just as powerful but it's called differently.
Yup, you got me Chris. Time to start actually doing more video work, thanks for the explanation on this helps tons!
I love that you shouted out dominik! :D
Fantastic intro! Was laughing my butt off. Thanks for this - Have an amazing day.
What a CTA ! well done! Subscribed! 👏
Subed on the anticipation trick! Really nice one man!
Thank you Chris, new sub here! I don’t even know how to make a reel yet, but I’ve been told it’s easy to do😬 Think I’ll take a look at your prior vids. I appreciate you and your tips!
Got me thinking about other platforms as well. Subbed
great vid I liked the breakdown into the 4 categories and planning around content type that I haven't considered that perspective before
Love it ma! FYI, your sensor looks like it needs cleaning in the top left corner.
I am a creator. Instagram is my favorite app because its capacity allows me to post everything that I do. It's my least favorite when it comes to helping creators. It could be winning but it's not.
Love this perspective.
Hilarious - the quick show of the pic made me LOL
Yay, another IG Growth Video!!!😍😃😎😂 Thank you so much Mr. H!💪😎😂😌
So glad I saw this video for the reels tips and to subscribe to the newsletter 😄🤟🏻
Thanks for making this 🤙🏾🐾
FIRST OF ALL , AMAZING WORK AND AMAZING VIDEO
LOVE THIS CONTENT. and most of your content is entertaining so yeah thanks for all of that.
I've been working over the past month on proving the same theory. I tired posting my best photos every day for a month and my account lost so much engagement I had to stop early. Will also be making a video on it soon! This video was a great confirmation to know I am not the only one
yeah, i've found the more I post photos the less the engagement...they're literally punishing users for using their platform
Clever Hau. you hooked me with the spelling of subscribe @6.10.
This was good bro!! Hilarious at the beginning!!
Subscribed after watching this video. Great advice. Thanks man!
