I remember playing this back in the day..The music especially on Level 2 used to give me goosebumps..Really showed what the Snes was capable of and made the Megadrive look crap lol
Awesome Game, Awesome music. Way ahead of its time.Konami Is only second to Capcom. Thanks for taking the time to play and post this. It truly stretched the SNES to its limits!
One of my favorite shmups from that generation, or ever. Inventive use of Snes's impressive GPU makes levels interesting, and surprisingly good looking even to day.
Firstly I am glad others have experienced this awesome game and I would ask the question HAS THERE BEEN ANY OTHER SHOOTEM UP TO RIVAL THIS GAME? (EXCLUDING THE RTYPE SERIES) excellent gameplay my friend, thank you for reviving my shoot em up days(awesome skill time learnt I am sure:)
See you in Axelay 2!
Man, famous last words; this game really deserves a sequel.
What a blast from the past. I completely forgot about this game and was going "oh yeah!" The whole way through. Thank you.

Man, this brings back memories. The gameplay/graphics were pretty awesome for its time, but that music. Wow, just wow.

Level 3 will always be my favorite with the scenery and music

2019 still going strong
It's not a real TAS, but only for the music of the second level, this video has to be seen.

I haven't found another Shmup with a soundtrack as stellar as this one.
Not a true TAS run, IMO, but still well done. Axelay is one of the better games for the SNES.
This game is the BOMB.COM
