I learned chinchilla about a year and a half after I first tarted playing, and it was the first riff that I learned where I was like “woah this is actually difficult and really cool.” Made me feel like an actual guitar player.
Hey Steve @Let's Talk About Math Rock just bringing it to your attention that your website has all of it's lessons defaulting to the left of the options menu which causes them to be cut off and unreadable in most browsers. Should be a fairly simple fix but just wanted to bring it to your attention.
Hope you're doing well. I've been working on Bubble Dream for a year now. The pull off from the pinky is still rough for me. One day I'll be intermediate...
Be kind to yourself you're doing great! If it helps break the riff down into smaller sections and try to figure out what might be tripping you up and try some pinky strengthening exercises.
This one was the most difficult of the lot for me! Spent almost 2 weeks learning it and still this is the best I could do. Take it slow, I know it sucks but it'll be worth it in the end 👍👍
@@ivanquiroga6283 Yeah I'd say 26 is easier. Chinchilla requires mixing up the fingerpick pattern more, and it requires more movement up and down the fretboard too
Thank you for this Steve. I haven't been playing as much as I used to do before these days and this video has given me a reason to go and practice again. Specially because I'm really acquainted to some of these songs and now I finally got the chance to play them.
this video says intermediate but bubble dream is the first math rock song I tried to learn, I have roughly half the song down but I have to play it like 7 times to get it clean once xD
He's pulling off to that note instead of open. So he frets the notes he's pulling off to, and kinda "bends" it slighty, very slightly, as he pulls off to literally give it more wiggle room to sound. Left hand is fretted just like you're playing a normal note.
Nice top, i would learn all of them, but the thing is that i only have one guitar, and the idea of change tuning everytime i'll play one or other is just terryfing considering that i can broke a string or uncalibrate my guitar lol
So... Minus the Bear?.. Never really understood the title.. but no worries.. From Southern California.. Hopefall, Since by Man, Thursday, Casket Lottery, CONVERGE, Mastadon.. 🤔?.. not sayin, I'm asking?..
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock lol, you’re bad… I’m working on the crowing by coheed and Cambria but I’m coming for you next. I just feel like my tone isn’t good enough. I mean, I have a decent overdrive, reverb, and a compressor but my amp kinda sucks. 😢

Thanks! Would've missed that 😅

Cheers! I had noticed this just hadn't got round to fixing it. Thanks again. 👍
Man, you could do a whole video on I Just Got This Symphony Goin'. So many sections, techniques and difficulties in just 4 minutes.

Steve just bringing it to your attention that I love you ❤️
Oh you 😅
This channel has been helping me a lot in recent months. Thank you very much. 🙏
Always Focused by Tiny Moving Parts is another pretty good intermediate riff with some tapping but fairly simple feel.
I love math rock so much !!! I don't have an electric guitar but I admire a lot people who play those
I remember learning Bubble Dream by watching Mario play it on his RUclips channel as one of his "Riffs".
Literally all my favourite riffs. I also play TFOT riff the same way; bend, slide and bend. I guess Eric bends them all
Would have to watch a video of him playing it though it sounds like a slide on the record 🤔
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock yeah true. Idk really.
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock ruclips.net/video/PJQqxdDVgkk/видео.html& here's a video of him playing it, you played it correctly (he plays it at 2:09)
went with the les paul for fall of troy i see ur attention to detail
If Chinchilla is 'intermediate' I really need to know what the advanced list will be like
probably +3 awesome repels water, 26 is dancier than 4 or baboon
Baboon, on the self titled its probably japanese ultraviolence, moat of 13 and disappointment
come on it is not that difficult, try nailing 26 is dancier than 4 at full speed and you'll see that both of your hands instantly will fall off

PLEASE do more Covet tutorials ♥♥♥
I love the first and the third especially, gonna try learn those two and the tapping part of the 4th
Thank you so much for your videos! You inspire me everyday to keep practicing and enjoying guitar. :)
such elegant dexterity
dont lie, I know u love the les paul!
That's impossible because the internet told me I shouldn't like gibson and that they make bad guitars
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock All hail the Telecaster. All hail the Telecaster.
Gotta sneak that Incandescent plug in the middle
thank you so much for the video, it took a few hours but I finally got the bubble dream riff down

Great content as always Steve
Thank you~ 😁
Idk why but this channel makes me wanna watch like a math Rock competition
Steve what do you think of Susquatch - Awakening at Daybreak? If you listen, any first impressions?
What is that movement you do with your leg?
The chon one sounds so good slowed down
Cool ! Gonna learn these right now !
What set of string is that you use?
Hi, from Mexico
Same wondering
In a livestream he mentioned that he usually plays 9's.
what is the name of the song in the intro
The solo part to "Clouds Above My Head" by "Tiny Moving Parts" should be on here!
Ok I'm on it. Least i got something to play on my preordered ichi10.
Could you make a demo of it when you get it?
@@newdirge9601 I'll try but no promises

Love how you changed guitars to match the bands haha
I love you Steve! And I love your band!
Love you man ❤️
pls do more of these types of videos 🙏
Fall Of Troy's Tom Waits for the advanced math rock riffs video
I don't really know if advanced. I mean, i can play it. It's a little tricky, but not so hard, i guess? just my opinion
Amazing!
Cheers!
hey man the website with the tabs doesnt work anymore
I'll have to check out some mountain
0:42 how to get that tone?
That Covet song is hard af lol...and it's played way faster on the recording!
ya lo vi my chuiriii🐱✨️
Thanks for reminding me that TTNG exists. Oof so good.
I would really love to see what it's the next level, because I knew this riffs before.
Not bad riffs, tho. I really like them
Hope u love that mustang, man!
I'm a simple man, I see The Fall of Troy and TTNG I click and geek out. A fellow man of taste 😏
I’m glad the mustang is getting some love. You rip, man. Bust out some tricot for us weebs.
2:37 Can anyone explain how does he do the tap then pull off without moving his left fingers? This has been bothering me for days how he does it lol

New guitar ? The les paul.
Yup. Had it for a month or so now. Probs make a video about it in the near future. The finish on it is amazing 😍

ok o got the rhythm down now i just need to play it up to speed without messing it up
I used to consider myself as an intermediate guitarist… guess I’ll be a beginner forever.
the people wanna see the pre back
Steve, let me start off by saying that I love you and your videos so much. BUT… throwing in that Covet? Lol, the fuck you think intermediate means?!?
