This is a fascinating snapshot in time. One student answered "The best thing that could happen is we all become socialists." Well, were about halfway there but unfortunately it is leading to what she said would be the worst thing to happen..." We destroy ourselves". Our founding principles look more brilliant with each passing year & we stray from them at our peril.

Although I was a local Poughkeepsie townie, I was considered a gifted child and attended the Vassar College Nursery School from 4-5. My earliest and happiest clear memories. I remember mandatory ballet for the girls and bunny rabbits filling the playground, delighting all the children. Although I’m an alma mater of a mere NYC city college, I can proudly say I graduated from Vassar College Nursery School 😂

I remember those years so well but from a somewhat odd perspective. I was a 16 year old faculty brat, my father a full professor. I remember several of these characters quite well. Wound up going to college elsewhere but have been on campus at least once a year from then to the present year. It was a particular pleasure to take my children there.

Incurring enormous student loans wasn't even in the discussion back then. One student said she wants to be a piano teacher!

that's because very few students back then needed a student loan lol--it was only after the Ivy League opened up that the needy arrived

I entered Vassar two years later. What a different time.

    01:25 --- It never changes. NEVER. 1960s: "I'm really EXCITED" --- 1970s: "I'm really EXCITED" --- 1980s: "I'm really EXCITED" --- 1990s: "I'm really EXCITED" --- 00's: "I'm really EXCITED" --- 10's: "I'm really EXCITED" --- 20's: "I'm really EXCITED" --- 2030's-2040's-2050's-2060's (before you look, take a free guess as to what might possibly come next): "I'm really EXCITED!"

Well, I precisely wanted to see this documentary for the difference in clothes. Gone were the days, already in the seventies, of upswept dos and strings of pearls to attend class. A shame, really. People dress even more shittily nowadays.
