I can't thank you enough for your wonderfully clear and accurate lessons. I'm a big Beatle fan and, thanks to your help, I've learned many of the songs I grew up loving. Thanks again!!!
Great, great lesson. I don't think you get thanked enough for all your lessons, so... Thanks very much for all the time and effort you put into teaching songs on guitar. You do a wonderful job. You're inspiring and helping a lot of people including me. Challenging me to be a better guitar player. Really appreciate it.
Joe, what can I say..........another five star effort. Your time and genius of teaching is greatly appreciated. Can't wait for the next lesson. I'm off to learn this one!
Great job on the instruction! I appreciate you taking the time to spotlight this one. What an incredible display of song crafting by a team that shined despite the unthinkable time constraints of movie making, tours, recording and interviews.
Really, can't believe they had time to write songs (and what songs) in between tours, movies, appearances, etc...Glad you liked the lessons and thanks.
Thanks for all that. I'm a number one Beatles fan and your demonstration was realy helpful. I've been wanting to play this one for ages and intro it to the duo we're forming when the four piece isn't doing regular gigs. Cheers....
Great lesson and beautiful chord combinations. This is why we couldn't pick this up by ear in the late sixties (as youngsters)! Respect the Beatles more and more as time goes on.
Thanks friend for the kind words of support. The response by tubers has been overwhelming and makes any effort worthwhile. I especially like hearing from a new generation of kids, 15, 16 years old around the world who are just discovering the Beatles....amazing. So glad you enjoy the vids and cheers to you!
Thanks for this; great lesson. One of the reasons I love this song so much is the excellent harmonies between John and Paul. It's fun to listen to them work through this song on the Beatles Anthology version, before they had the bridge figured out.
Thank you for your reply. Your lessons are very kind and I see you always try to make us learn with ease. I like the way you teach and found your heart so kind and warm ! Thank you again ! Hiroshi
Hello and glad to hear that you enjoy the lessons. I really appreciate you taking the time to post your message of support. Cheers and all the best friend.
Whenever i look up how to play a Beatles song, you are always in the top three search results, and your lessons are so good and straight forward, i really appreciate it and i learn songs from your videos all the time. so thank you jpm2u
Joe -- another championship lesson. I've been working on it for a portion of the afternoon and feel as though I've really got it now. Best from Baghdad!
Thanks a lot....I'm lucky enough to have met The Beatles and have been a fan all my life playing their music in school bands etc.....but I've always had problems learning this great song....
You sing this with a very accurate John/Paul inflection. I find whenever the Beatles sing a non-chord tone lie the E over the Bm chord in the third section of this song, I have to play the chord with that note in the upper register or I simply can't sing it right. I never realized there was that "Michelle-like" downstep in the tune. Thank you for this video.
My fingers hurt so much when I first began but with time you'll have some lovely calluses and won't feel the pain. Use light or extra light strings at first and that might help a bit. But don't give up. It'll be worth it. Cheers and thanks.
Lennon could write songs to make you cry. McCartney could never get down deep enough in his soul to write simple sad songs, too scared to go there, too insecure, John lived there with his grief and anger and shyness.
@jpm2u It´s a plain E with the G# note on the 3rd string moved up to A. It´s just a touch of this chord when you sing "I´ll be", moving to regular E7 on the "back". Thanks for your kind comments about my channel. I´ve been learning a lot from you Beatles lessons as well.
Thanks very much for providing this lesson. I'm just getting back to the guitar after many years away from public playing and your approach is really helpful.,,, and with one of my favorite Beatles songs, no less! Sorry to hear that you sometimes run into jerks. Forget them They deserve thenselves! If it helps, remember how much others like me really benefit from your efforts! All the best!
@ozreach Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed. "I need you" is a great song and I'll get around to it one of these days. But there isn't any lead. There is George doing electric guitar with a volume pedal...is that what you mean? Anyway thanks and hope you keep watching. Peace.
I was already playing this but you taught me a couple of small yet important nuances here, like the little d,g,e strings I couldn't even figure out if I had noticed it. It adds a lot but I was also playing Am, Em7 and F7 in the verses and it seemed to work, now I can't decide how to do it, lol :)
The Em7 is not bad and close but I believe the G I'm using with the open E string is the correct one. But go with what sounds good to you. Nothing wrong with your own interpretation. Thanks and cheers!
@mikka1963 Could be, but I'm not exactly sure what an E4/7 is. By the way, I've checked out your channel and enjoy what you have done. Thanks for watching.
No problem!! Thank you for not tearing my head off!! Unfortunately, others don't always appreciate my input. Which is discouraging as I'm only trying to help folks play the songs of my favorite band correctly. Anyways...once again...great job!!
@fairyfellermaster One of my favorites too. I know what you mean. I always thought it was a Paul song until I found out otherwise. Thanks for the support and glad you enjoyed. Cheers
Thank you so much for showing this in a way a simple idiot can understand! I love the run down but it will take a ton of pratice to be able to sing over it.
Yes, excellent lesson! I kept seeing online chord charts with a Am, C, G, F, etc. but for the life of me, I could not hear that C in the recording. I concur that your G6 chord sounds right on. And to 1224JOHND, all I can say is, "WOW!" You were witness to a significant historical event, my friend!
The fact that John Lennon was inpired by Del Shannon's chords on "Runaway" (Am G F E A) then these are the chords: Am G F E A D E D E Oh ho oh ho (The D chord on the first "oh ho" is wrong) Bm I----thought that you would (Bm is wrong - you're out tune or the chord "Bm" is wrong!
Ah, you warm my heart. Thanks for the kind words and it's for people like you that I make these. Keep on playing and enjoying this great music. All the best friend.
Great!! Most people don't realize that the high E rings throughout the verses. They always incorrectly play a G and F chord. The actual chords (which you play correctly, but didn't mention the names) are G6 and Fmaj7.
Interesting. I never paid attention that (about the Bm). The one song that is difficult for me to find the right starting singing notes is This Boy. I have to be a few chords into the song to finally find my voice. Thanks for the comments about the John/Paul inflection and glad you liked the video. Cheers friend.
Thanks. This is one of my favorite Beatles songs. I'm a Beatle fanatic.
By far the best guitar lessons on You Tube or even on pro DVD's. Thanks for taking the time to share all these songs with us.
I can't thank you enough for your wonderfully clear and accurate lessons. I'm a big Beatle fan and, thanks to your help, I've learned many of the songs I grew up loving. Thanks again!!!
Ten years later and its still the best tutorial out there for I'll Be Back- thanks!
Great, great lesson. I don't think you get thanked enough for all your lessons, so... Thanks very much for all the time and effort you put into teaching songs on guitar. You do a wonderful job. Joe, what can I say..........another five star effort. Your time and genius of teaching is greatly appreciated. Can't wait for the next lesson. I'm off to learn this one!
I have been trying to figure this out correctly for 50 years., finally ., this is great., Steve Boyleston in Alabama ., wow!
Great job on the instruction! I appreciate you taking the time to spotlight this one. What an incredible display of song crafting by a team that shined despite the unthinkable time constraints of movie making, tours, recording and interviews.
Really, can't believe they had time to write songs (and what songs) in between tours, movies, appearances, etc...Glad you liked the lessons and thanks.
a good lesson for a good song. saw the beatles many times at the cavern as a young man and still love the music. thanks john[ from liverpool]
Joe -- You're the best. I usually play along with you within the first watch. Excellent job and thank you so much.
Great job. I think you're the only one teaching the decending run which adds so much and brings it to another level.
Yeah it was hard for me back then. Played the records over and over with my ear to the speakers...ha ha. Thanks for the support Daniel. Cheers
From spain... excellent, thanks for this leason, is perfect, your a good teacher!!! Love from all us to you
Thank you so much for this lesson. I'm gonna keep an eye for more of your videos. Love this song.

VERY, very good. You really helped me learn this song fast and properly. You are an excellent teacher!
Thanks for this; great lesson. One of the reasons I love this song so much is the excellent harmonies between John and Paul. It's fun to listen to them work through this song on the Beatles Anthology version, before they had the bridge figured out.
super concise and easy to understand. Thank you! (Your vocal was good too)
Thanks!! Played it along smoothly after a about half an hour. Including the 'george-'walkdown, You're tutorial is about as good as they can get!
Thank you for your reply. Your lessons are very kind and I see you always try to make us learn with ease. I like the way you teach and found your heart so kind and warm ! Thank you again ! Hiroshi

Thanks man ! Good lesson. I finally learned my 1st Beatles tune.
Kind words my friend and spoken like a poet. Much appreciated, thanks. Joe

Who knew that lick was so simple and easy? Thanks.
Really well done, and nice voice. Thank you, brutha

I always loved the unusual and original intro to this song.
Yes, just only 3 notes has a great effect.
The joy of simplicity.
@mikka1963
