Great reaction. The 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods' intro is not on the album - it is a Kami Band thing so only played in live shows as that is the only place you will see and hear them. The Kami Band that night were Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). It was almost as if they were performing a ritual, summoning Su-metal up from the deep (or from below stage at least😉). There can't be many vocalists who could follow an intro like that ... and who would then completely take over the whole stage with their performance. Su-metal was still only just 16 here, it was only the second time she had sung this song live (first time was the night before). 'Rondo of Nightmare' is possibly their darkest song lyrically. Su is caught in a recurring nightmare being chased through the dark by something she can't see. Finally she hides but it is still coming closer and, accepting there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least show itself first. This was one of Su's solos so Yui and Moa were catching their breath below stage. Her solos don't have so much choreo and probably most moves she does are her own. Su has 3 more solos - 'Akatsuki', 'No Rain, No Rainbow' and (my personal favourite of her solos) 'Amore'. Yui and Moa as a duo called Black BABYMETAL also had 4 songs they would perform giving Su a break - '4 No Uta' (or Song of 4), 'Onedari Daisakusen', 'GJ' and 'Sis Anger'.
Just to add the variation, I vote for SIS ANGER. Considered as Babymetal's heaviest song. If Rondo of Nightmare is a Sumetal solo, Sis Anger meanwhile is performed only by Moa and Yui.
Great reaction, thanks! Part of the fun of watching BABYMETAL reactions is noticing the confusion of the reactors, even the more experienced. That's why I always make that generic suggestion about expecting the unexpected. Because... BABYMETAL is not the usual metal band, at all. As it's said, "Rondo of Nightmare" is arguably their darkest song and this particular performance, being just the second time they performed it live, is iconic. And what to say about Su-metal? Being just 16 at the time, standing (and dancing) on that elevated and relatively small platform, without any safety and probably not being able to see a thing. THIS is metal. Guess why she's called the Queen? Until next time!
⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL aren't really metal. : ) It's already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage. This song had it's world premiere the previous night at the Budokan Red Night show. The 'Mischief of the Metal Gods' instrumental often precedes 'Rondo of Nightmare', but not always. This was the Black Night at Budokan in 2014, with Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars and Hideki Aoyama on drums. And of course BOH on bass. Not that many people play a six stringed bass to begin with, let alone tap one like that. Su sang three solo songs that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. I already liked BABYMETAL, but those solo songs made me a die hard fan. Dancing on a small platform raised in the air demonstrates courage. Following up an introduction where each Kami Band member shows off their skills with a solo, shows total fearlessness. : )
these girls had the courage not to do it at that young age. and Yui, who fell off the stage (more than 2 meters high), returned in the next song, and Moa, who continued to perform despite her leg injury (with tears and a grimace of pain on her face).
Thanks for coming back and keep binging with BM songs. You arrived to an unusual song unlike the happy or uplifting ones you already heard. _Akumu No Rondo_ combines not only heaviness with dark waltz and dope time signatures changes but also delicate and fragile beautiness that makes you wants to grab your inception kit and go to rescue this 16 yo queen from this nightmare. Temporarily title song was "Kill The Alice" so is like Alice but instead of Wonderland she's trapped in a nightmare trying to escape and avoid some evil entity. Rondo is a musical form in which you can hear a repetitive pattern, you can hear an example of this in the song "Blue Rondo a la Turk" The Kami Band doing their second magnificent intro of the night with their own set called "Mischiefs Of Metal Gods". They become regular after this special live at Budokan 2014 and leaving baby-bones, from early shows, behind, shout-out to them thou. The members here are the same one you saw at Road Of Resistance, so still no Mikio Fujioka, if you want to see and hear his solo look for Catch Me If You Can live at MetRock 2015, is under the title "CMIYC" at BMRR Reactor Resource. Many people forget this was the day (night) after the first live premiere of this song and she's dancing and performing like she already did a dozen of times before, like a pro. Also she's showing some fierceness here dancing on that high dangerous mini stage with no wire and that's how she keeps winning everyone's heart. But not everything was perfect here despite their impeccable performance and sound, and the day before the girls face that dangerous challenge on the stage, taking their own revenge after coming back in 2021 to celebrate their 10 years and leaving those ghosts behind, fortunately. Thanks for sharing this wonderful SuMetal solo and my favorite along with _"Akatsuki"_ Keep watching all their solos because all 4 of them are beautiful and of course the rest of the girls under a subgroup called "Black Babymetal" are enjoyable too, so don't miss out their other 4 songs too. Try "Onedari Daisakusen" live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip safe to react. I know is hard to keep every info about them, so don't worry, whenever you need to remember something is all good if you want to ask something again. Everyone is here to helping you out with your journey so you can get the best experience, also thanks for following our suggestions. Btw if you want to know more about them you can watch *"A BabyMetal Guide"* by CrypticMisery, is the most updated guide and is among majority of BM fans the most structured and well focus on the informative side, just remember to watch "Babymetal Death" live at Legend 1997 and BxMxC before watching that. Now put your kitsune up and see you next time! 🦊🤘🔥
Loved you expressions at Su's Hign note then the haunting quite part . Also where Boh did his solo . Incredible intro to call forth Su from the depths . fancy having to follow that intro at 16 years old . As others have said no two songs the same . Even same song , unfinished Akatsuki from Legend 97 and Budokan Black Night 😁🤘🦊🤘
It's a beautiful metal ballad and to perform this good at the age of 16 is in my opinion something quite incredible. The intro, the stage, the song itself and the performance by everyone involved was perfection. The stars aligned.
BABYMETAL does so many things and they do it all amazingly well. No matter if its all 3 girls, Su's solos, or Yui and Moa doing their dynamic Duo thing. All equally entertaining and a joy to see. 🤘🦊🤘
lol! Trying to get a read on Babymetal before having heard every song is like trying to catch water with a sieve. If you've heard three Babymetal songs, you'll have heard at LEAST two different metal genres. Great reaction!
Great & Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。"Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her.
excellent content Joel-Metal, it is my favorite song off their first album, you need to hear "From Dusk Till Dawn" Budokan 2021, it might just blow your mind.
Hi, Joel. You indeed touched on some of the things that are behind the enthusiasm many of us have for this band. This 2014 performance is my favorite of the Su-metal solos. Many do prefer the 2015 Yokohama performance and for good reasons. But for me the staging on this was fantastic. The image of Su- up on the platform like a music box dancer, waltzing to that heavy metal chorus, while the band plays below on the slowly rotating stage... Then when she comes in with that "scream" on pitch and on time*... Made my many decades ago 16-year old self fall completely gobsmacked in love the first time I heard it. *Notes for the Roadie: there are purported captures of Su-'s IEM feed for a handful of songs including this one. And we hear the metronome counting for several different points against the almost competing rhythms of the song. But not for that "scream" during the bridge. More notes for the Roadie: Following the bridge in the quiet verse we see Su- adopt a pose with the mic pulled up to her nose. I don't think there is an effect on her voice during this verse, rather she is using a nasal resonance technique. Something she talked about in an interview so I believe it was used in studio. There is some controversy about this as I think for this performance it was lip-sync (a rare thing) or perhaps post-production overdub. I think she pulls the mic out of position too soon in the video for it to have been live in this performance. But others think it was the real deal. As is said: Only the fox god knows. Do add in your own observations as a roadie/tech. Many of us want to hear the different perspectives of those that have expertise and experience that we do not.
Yes, there's been some debate over the years as to whether Su's lilting interlude is live or "is it Memorex?" I think the general concensus these days is that it is tracked. I remember reading a comment (but can't remember the source) that the night before, Su did not "lip-sync" the passage and Koba had a "talk" with her about that(yes, our Queen is fallible:). Perhaps our "experts" can comment and this can be "put to rest" once and for all.
@@garytruex9336, had not heard that before. I have the Blu-ray with both performances so maybe that has a clue. Kobametal does love his post-production sometimes so we may never actually know. 🦊🤘
Imo the only thing better about the version of this from Yokohama 2015 is one of the Kami solos. The rest of them are pretty much on par, Su's vocal performance is arguably worse, and the staging is definitely inferior. Oh, I guess one other thing that is better is the mix. As for the quiet part, yes that's always backtrack. I've listened to every pro-shot performance of this song and quite a few fancams, and it always sounds the same. People stir up controversy about it because they think she "should" sing it live, but I don't think it's possible to get that strong of an effect on live vocals, despite what some people claim, and that effect just works so well. Definitely agree that he should continue including anecdotes about his roadie experiences though; those have been quite interesting each time they've come up
Good point! Joel, if you are up for doing a double-header there are 2 distinct versions of the Su-metal solo song "Akatsuki" (crimson moon). The regular version, I would probably recommend the performance from 2014 Budokan ( same show as Rondo here). But there is a one-off version called "Akatsuki (unfinished version)" which was performed at the "Legend 1997" show. Quite a different take on the song and an incredible performance. They might need treatment to avoid copyright issues.
Kamiband : We're gonna blow your minds with our awesome solos! Sumetal : Hold my matcha latte.... Love watching the drummer Hideki in this, when the camera pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the machine like pounding in the background with the double kicks. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. For something a little different you should checkout onedari daisakusen by Black Babymetal. Black Babymetal is the subgroup of Babymetal where Yui and Moa perform without Su. Its a song about little girls using every trick in their cute and daddy's girl arsenal to get Dads to buy them stuff. Actually, theres 4 songs performed by Black Babymetal, Onedari Daisaskusen, GJ (a song about taking it easy in the hecticness of life), and Sis Anger (talking about girls getting pissed about selfish douchebags) and Song 4 (dispelling the superstion of the evilness of "4" in asia 4 sounds like death). Or to go even somewhat different field, you can checkout Babymetal performing with Rob Halford at the APMA's.... Its not the best video... The MC's were cringe in the beginning messing up the girl's names.... The crowd (aside from a very small group ) was rather unresponsive... and the camera work was terrible (who points their camera away from someone doing a guitar solo???)... and the sound is bleh... BUT the energy of the Kamiband, the girls and Rob is more than makes up for everything else. Its great to see girls having fun without a set choreo. OR you can checkout Su performing Breaking the Law and Painkiller by herself with Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers on the drums.... it's mostly fancam vids, but it's worth it. Wait till the end, and you'll see a very sweet metal moment. 🤘🦊🤘
Love that you're getting so many reactions out so fast. Others already have commented about the rest of Su's solo songs and Black Babymetal songs, so I'll just put down the rest of songs which has the live band intros. 1. Catch Me If You Can 2.Yava 3.Awadava Fever 4.Kagerou (Wester Kami Band) Thanks and keep the videos coming I'm highly enjoying them.
Great reaction! Ones of my absolute favorites... Rondo is a dark masterpiece, and everything about this performance is complete fire. Thank you for the reaction.🦊🤘🔥🖤
There is no singer who has both beauty and good singing like Su-Metal (the lead singer of Babymetal , Nakamoto Suzuka) 'in Japan' , I think . She is 24years old now . She belongs to the biggest entertainment company in Japan and is a famous singer and talent from when a child . When you want to purify your soul , Please listen 'Nakamoto Suzuka asu he no tobira' ruclips.net/video/LKcjG4Zqc5c/видео.html(2.3Mviews)😀
another great reaction. This was gonna be one of my next suggestions. Such a cool unique song and Su sings so beautiful. It really a beautiful song. One of few where Su does solo. Yui and Moa does a few by themselves too and they call it Black Babymetal and Im sure you will get around to them eventually.
Dancing in the dark 2 meters above a rotating stage, a 16 year old Suzuka sings of an Unending Nightmare of being chased by a Faceless Terror and Begging a Boon that it show her its Face just once before she dies. That's Metal. That's Babymetal!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Oh, and Dude, once you really get into listening to Babymetal, it will change how you hear all other Metal!! Sorry for this but the way forward is with change!!
Probabky worth mentioning Osaka Big Cat debuted a 5th Kami Band member "MIZ", Goddess of Violin. She performed on the four shows of the Tour a violin performance of "Chopin's Revolutionary Etude" during the encore of each show. At the moment she is the only woman as Kami Band member. I don't know if there is any video performances of her though as they would be rare. Rondo Of nightmare definitely is a good track for the I'm still on the fence crowd. Babymetal really has something for everyone really but there is more where this came from. Personally one of my favorite performances and though it's Rock ballard. It is one of the few Babymetal songs with an English version. "The One" was performed at the Tokyo Dome & had one of the most epic stage sets I've ever seen at a concert. The entire performance was pretty legendary in itself. However Su-Metal was already pushing the boundaries even then for someone her age. All three girls were in this one as I miss Yui! 😭💕
Nice reaction. Yup Babymetal isn't afraid to go anywhere musically. Babymetal at this point was well known for the kawaii in their music and lyrics but for this song through the kawaii out the window. This song is about a nightmare as the tittle shows. And there's nothing kawaii about it. Beyond that the performance was a great metal theatrical show. If Broadway shows sounded like that. I would be there all the time. Now I have to wait for Babymetal. I can hardly wait for it too. I know they're going on a world tour. When they come to NYC next, I hope it's the garden. I'll take Barklee's center, but Legends play Madison Square Garden. I would take City field too. This is one of my favorite Babymetal performances. Even though Yui and Moa aren't there. The Kamiband intro and Su just stunning performance. This performance is epic level type stuff. Everything about it is on point. Do you feel like you just went down another level in the foxhole? It's deep but unlike this song it's mostly a very happy place. Next check out Yui and Moa performing without Su. Known as Black Babymetal when they perform without her. Check out Sis Anger or GJ. If you see someone write MoiMoi. They're taking about Yui and Moa. Who when asked what MoiMoi meant. They insisted it was a combination of their names. It stuck. I think it's actually Finish for hello/goodbye. But it's so kawaii of them to react to it like that. Yui and Moa were close. It would have been easy for Moa to walk away when Yui left. Instead, the bond between Su and Moa became stronger. The 3rd album is just them and it did great. We already heard a great first song from the 4th album. Su and Moa are becoming a duo like few others. Hall and Oats better watch out. LOL. I know still a long way to go before they can even approach all of their achievements but it's a nice goal to have. I still imagine them doing metal duets. But not as a ballad. and maybe one as a power ballad. One of Babymetals few almost single genre songs is a su solo called No Rain No Rainbow. A power ballad a small connection with November rain. Look for the legend S performance. Warning Warning it gets blocked a lot. So even if you can't do a reaction to it. It's well worth watching. Enjoy the journey down the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.
You can never pigeon hole Babymetal into a single metal genre. That's what most of us love about them , and their undoubted talent as well of course. Some Black Babymetal next could be called for. Just Yui and Moa . There is a heavier vibe to their songs. Or maybe try Babymetal with Rob Halford at the APMA awards. There they sing painkiller and breaking the law with the metal God himself. Enjoy your journey. 🦊🦊💥🦊🦊

You should check out one of the guides to Babymetal there are a few different ones I'm sure someone in the comments can recommend the right one for you to watch
Excelente ! The Best song by BabyMetal so far . Super heavy ,gloomy dark gothic . SuMetal & KamiBand stunning talented . Please check the other side : Black BabyMetal . song . 4 no Uta (Song 4). Real live .Budokan black night 2014. (same show that Rondo ) Yui and Moa ,termonuclear energy release mode , crazy happy fun ! Thank You !
Ozzy wasn't at this performance. He was there the day before. Budokan was their first real headlining metal show. They ushered in a new Era performing more like a metal band and less like an Idol Group.
Rondo Of Nightmare Mischiefs Of Metal Gods at Budokan Live. I think maybe black night but not 100% sure on that. Su-Metal i believe was 16 in that performance!! The late great Mikio Fujioka was also in that show. Which unfortunately is no long with us. Having died tragically in a balcony accident in 2019. That gives some great contrast just how f*** badass Su-Metal was. Even then she was well above what I would expect of a 16 year old. Ladies first performance as BabyMetal though actually was at Summer Sonic Festival in Japan. They were around 12 at the time which makes them officially the youngest group to ever perform there. What was I doing at 12 here lol. Ladies really have so much more respect for now. The displine to stick with it that long is inspiring. Rock on Ladies!! 🤘
This on of the darker songs of BM. It's about fighting depression and in the end loosing the fight. Watch the light show at the end: The spotlights form a cage in the air in which Su is captured. Many say it's an allusion to the fate of Yui who left the band "for undisclosed health conditions".
the song is about su having a recurring nightmare where she is being chased by a unknown monster and her only wish is that it revels it's face to her before it kills her,,still pretty dark song
Ah, 16 years old Sue again has tricked one more guy. This is a slow, heavy, and exquisitely structured metal song. And she has surly dominated those metal gods, unreal! I enjoyed your sincere and naked reaction.
A Rondo is a song type that combines up-tempo and slow tempo elements at different places of the song. If you weren't expecting both in this rondo, then it's a simple thing to google the definition. It is like when someone reacts to a medley then is shocked that there are lots of parts of different songs in it. I give a pass to people not from the music industry, mere laypeople, but it is harder when someone brags about his book for him to not do any research.
Hehe you really shouldn't be thanking us for the variation in songs.. that's simply Babymetal in a nutshell.. pretty much every song is different from the last even over 3 albums. The two most similar songs that I can think of is 'Road of Resistance' and 'Arkadia', but even though those two songs have a similar style, they still have a different vibe. They've been exploring all the different genres of metal combined with a varitation of other genres, and on top of that they've experimented with sounds from different cultures too. They are the very definition of a fusion band.
Yui and Moa as a duo called Black BABYMETAL also had 4 songs they would perform giving Su a break - '4 No Uta' (or Song of 4), 'Onedari Daisakusen', 'GJ' and 'Sis Anger'.
as always - great comments! 👍
@@MsDinazavr Thanks 🙂🦊
An iconic Su solo.
Just to add the variation, I vote for SIS ANGER. Considered as Babymetal's heaviest song. If Rondo of Nightmare is a Sumetal solo, Sis Anger meanwhile is performed only by Moa and Yui.
😁😁😁
Babymetal 🤟 💕
It's Babymetal that is this varied, from poppy to metal to soft and hard, etc. it's a great journey because it !
⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥
This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL aren't really metal. : )
It's already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage.
@@MsDinazavr I'm glad that Su and Moa got to return to Budokan for ten shows in 2021 and create some great new memories.
Thanks for coming back and keep binging with BM songs.

No matter how many times I watch this, each time I get goosebumps. Her talent is immeasurable, an incredible performance by a 16 year old girl.
🤘🦊🤘
Babymetal "DEATH" ☠️
BABYMETAL does so many things and they do it all amazingly well. No matter if its all 3 girls, Su's solos, or Yui and Moa doing their dynamic Duo thing. All equally entertaining and a joy to see. 🤘🦊🤘
love babymetal ❤️🦊🦊🦊❤️

LETS REACT MORE... LETS GOOO
Sugoi! Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult
Definitely agree that he should continue including anecdotes about his roadie experiences though; those have been quite interesting each time they've come up
Has anyone recommended the two versions of Akatsuki yet?

Gods supporting the Queen.
Tails of the Destinies, Tokyo Dome live should leave you speechless. Only time it was done live, you'll see why...
absolutely amazing and wonderful song thanks for this reaction please more Babymetal 🥺❤️🥺🇯🇵💜
🤘🦊🤘
Every BM song is very different from each other. I mean completely different.
A fucking Masterpiece is what this song is
Love that you're getting so many reactions out so fast. Others already have commented about the rest of Su's solo songs and Black Babymetal songs, so I'll just put down the rest of songs which has the live band intros.
1. Catch Me If You Can
2.Yava
3.Awadava Fever
4.Kagerou (Wester Kami Band)
Thanks and keep the videos coming I'm highly enjoying them.
Yava and Awadama Fever are "terminally kawaii". Perhaps BM's cutest dance routines.
@@garytruex9336 personaly Yava is near the top of my favorite Babymetal songs, it's so hard to put the songs in order or even top 5
The only thing to expect from Babymetal is the unexpected. No two songs are alike.
This!
Ok I will listen to. Thank you!
@@joelroadie You are in for a treat! It is a beautiful song by Little Suzuka.
another great reaction.

"Rondo Of Nightmare (悪夢の輪舞曲; Akumu No Rondo)"

The waning moon has lit up
the insanity rampant in the shade
The laughter resounds around
It bares its fangs and its eyes gleam
I can’t escape from it
It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind
A nightmare rondo is being repeated
The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight
I can do nothing but run
through the darkness
In the woods, in the fountain
I hide myself holding my breath
but it’s still coming closer to me
A stagnant voice. An endless night
Ah…
If I can no longer get out of here
won’t you show me your figure?
It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind
A nightmare rondo is being repeated
The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight
I can do nothing but fall
into the darkness

She was 14. That says it all.
@@martinL1577 You are right! This is the surface meaning of the lyrics. Imo it's a metaphor, a parable of the fight against depression.
Waltz metal. It is difficult to sing because it changes to 3 beats in the middle 😁.
Ah, 16 years old Sue again has tricked one more guy. This is a slow, heavy, and exquisitely structured metal song. And she has surly dominated those metal gods, unreal! I enjoyed your sincere and naked reaction.
Great reaction, I can’t wait for you to react to, From Dusk til dawn live. Kitsuni dao!
