Not hating but there are few characters with way worse life than guts. Touma, subaru, okabe etc.

Also, I can't really think of any character that has gone through these types of hell and will laugh at others. These kids really doesn't know what they are talking about.

Then being captured by another mercinary group and left him at prison. While he was escaping, he wad betrayed by another man just to be used as a rat just to be killed by the son of the Leader at s duel. He was fed very little food, he had no clothe to keep his body warm in the prioson. Then he was given a wooden sword to fight that maniac kid, who kills other kids bro for just fun ☠️☠️☠️. He had eqipped Heavy armor and weapons and guts got a rusty armor and a wooden sword. Guts was supposed to be killed, but he killed him instead. He was only 11 at this point.
That's just what he suffered in his childhood. Not the entire life.

guts lost everything and THEN some more, I do not suffer NEARLY as much as guts does, most humans, in fact, thankfully don't as well, but seeing him push through it all as I started reading berserk helped me kind of realize.. I can do it on my own, before I had my first and as of now my only relationship I didn't really have any motivation, after my relationship ended because she cheated on my and acted very immaturely, I am left with ambition that lacks motivation, motivation that I kind of until now only found on HER, but Guts helped me see myself in the future by myself, Guts helped me see MYSELF as the motivation to get up in the morning, and with this I say.. Rest In Piece, Kentaro Miura!
