Nice video but not gonna lie bud, 5-7 for WVU is a pretty wild take in my opinion. We are returning the 7th best QB in all college football per Pro Football Focus in Garrett Greene who had over 3100 total offensive yards and 29 TDs. We picked up two big time recievers in Robinson from Mississippi State and Bray from OSU in the portal. Most of our main core recievers from last year were freshman who now have a full year plus off season under their belt, we shouldn't be plauged with as many dropped balls as last year and the routes should be cleaner. We return all but 2 starters on our O line and plugged those spots with veterans, which allowed us to rush for over 2100 yards last season. We return most of our core defense, plus big secondary additions from the portal. We return not one, but two of the best returning backs in the conference. We may not have the best, but we are going to have one of the deepest secondaries in the conference that can rotate and wear on an offense. We picked up a stud linebacker Reid Carrico from Ohio State to replace Lee Kpogba. Our backup QB Nicco Marchiol has two years in the system and is just as good as GG.
I agree this conference is going to be the most competitive in the country, but it still blows my mind that most Big 12 media and content creators always downplay WVU. We have proven production from a QB that was projected to be 64 out of 64 in all FBS lead a team that was supposed to be 14 out of 14 to 9-4, but people pick two teams that have QBs that have a hard time staying healthy and rarely play a whole season in Utah and Kansas along with a QB in Johnson for K-State that has played one game. For all we know Johnson could be the reverse of Greene and instead of being the best be a flash in the pan and be the worst, just like Greene went from being called the worst to one of the best. Long winded I know, but thats the thing about Mountaineer fans we are passionate about our team! Let's Go Mountaineers!
7 wins is the minimum expectation for WVU . . . even with 11 power 5 opponents. All told, we will lose a game we should have won, but we will win a game experts say we shouldn't have won. 7-5 at worst and probably end up 9-4 again with a bowl win. Don't get it twisted though - I think double digit wins and a conference title is the goal inside the program.
OSU deserves to be 10+. They won 10 games with the same team last year. They return the second most production in the nation, an o-line with 214 starts (#1 FBS), the Doak Walker award winner, 2 of the top 5 Big 12 WRs (yards), and a defense that won't be stuck in year 1 anymore. Phil Steele projects OSU to have the #1 offense in the big 12 in yards and points. He also projects OSUs defense to be top 15 most improved in all categories (pass, rush, points). People point out that Bowman had 14 INTs, which is awful, but he also threw for 3,400 yards and is the leagues returning leader in passing yards. Having a top 5 FBS offensive line will help limit pressure and give him more time to make better decisions. I don't understand why people think OSU will have a down year in a watered down conference. OSU is 19-2 at home the last 3 years.
ESPN analyst, Greg McElroy, just released his college football Top 25 teams and lists 6 Big XII schools. #16 OkSU, #18 Utah, #19 Kansas State, #22 Arizona, #23 West Virginia and #24 Kansas.
The Big 12 will be interesting going forward. Will any team pull ahead and dominate? There could be 10 different champions over the next 10 years.
This is what makes it the most fun conference to try and predict for. Completely expect my predictions to go horribly south.
@@RushTheFieldShow My guess is K State over Utah in the first "new Big 12" championship. I would love to see Houston and Texas Tech do well in this conference.
West Virginia returns almost all offensive production, including a senior quarterback, the top rushing attack in the country from last year and an extremely veteran offensive line. on defense, we return a few guys on defenses who were making big noise before they got injured and drastically improve the secondary and linebacker room.I’m sorry, but WVU will be more than a “middle of the pack” team.
Do you think they win the whole Big 12?
As a OU fan, I have Okstate and Kansas in the big12 title game. I think the logistical issues on the new teams is going to be tuff. Also i think Cam Rising will either not being able to compete at the same intensity as he did preinjury or he will get injured again.
Cam Rising and Jalon Daniels are the biggest wild card QBs I think just due to the injury history. Not mad at the pick, OKstate will always be in the running and Kansas has the infrastructure to be really good.
To me, Kansas would be "America's Team" if they have a fantastic season in the Big 12 this year. I haven't meet anyone that really hates Kansas, Daniels if really fun to root for.
Good video. You should go through wins and losses on the schedules. Feels like there are wins left on the table with these projections.
I think I will do that closer to kick off with certain teams.
Oklahoma state w 8 wins lol. We have the best OL in the big 12, best RB in the country and 9th best LB core in the country per on 3.
Its a crap shoot of teams in the big 12 and I just cant see the vision of anything past 8-9 wins for this team.
As an Arizona fan I'm not really going to give any prediction. I'm just ready for the season to start. I am very optimistic for UA football. I am waiting for the first chapter of the season.
I completely get it, having a QB and WR duo like Tet/Fifita will help chances massively.
You need to educate yourself. Last year BYU had a lot of transfers that were learning the system. This year a lot of players return and they upgraded their offensive line coach. I expect them to win 4 to 8 games. There will probably be a lot of coin flip games. My biggest worry is their defensive line. It needs to stay fairly healthy. They don't have much depth there. They may have the best quarterback and receiver depth in the league.
I'm a biased UCF fan, but it's nice to see them near the top of one of these lists. I thought I was going crazy. Watching most of these videos, they are like, UCF returning the best offense in the big 12 with even more weapons, name drop KJ and Penny Boone, killing the transfer portal, one of the top recruiting classes in big 12, Gus finally gets a QB he recruited years ago that fits his system, Defense is improved adding name drop Barber, Pace, Threats, Kelly. And with the help of a top 3 running back room in the country, we are picking them to finish 9th in the Big 12. Apologies, was bored, but liked the video.
Thank you! UCF hype train we here!!!
Want to hear your take on Kansas and you edited it out? ☹️ Do some kind of update please?!?
Making a video this week for Kansas, it was a editing mistake on my part
BIG FACTS
Cook
Just to stir the pot a little... UCF with QB injuries averaged 140 more YPG last year than Utah :)
Utah was on their 4th string QB and had like 8 starters hurt at the same time, including the RB.
I see the vision with UCF but lets not get WILD about Utah
I would suggest splitting your tiers at 6 wins, as 6 wins = bowl game; so 0-2, 3-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10+ Playoffs maybe?
Ill test it out for the big 10 video
I'll be thrilled if Texas Tech can achieve an 8 win season. I(along with many others) got sucked into the hype train last year and thought 8-9 wins last season was realistic...but look how that turned out lol(that ass whooping by UT was hard to watch).
Tech has not had one quarterback play the whole season since Mahomes(7+ years ago). If the quarter back position can be consistent, along with utilizing our first ever 5 star receiver ever(Hudson), Tech should be able to win 8 games. If not, I can see the Tech fan base starting to get a little impatient with head coach McGuire.
I got burned so bad by TTech last year sadly, so I am being cautiously optimistic.
Sleeping on texas tech and WV both could have 10 win excluding bowl game.utah beating up on Stanford asu colorado washington state cal and ucla usc been horrible the bottom of the big 12 would do the same thing.
It is SUCH a mixed bag with Big12 so I can see it happening ngl.
Arizona fans love the hate by B12 fanalysts.
Aye man, prove me wrong.
@@RushTheFieldShow guess we'll see huh
I tuned in mostly to hear your thoughts on Kansas, and there were none. Just a skip and they were on the board?
****editing mistake on me, apologies. I’ll most likely make a Kansas focused video
Kstate so slow in the secondary
Let’s fucking go
YEEEEEEAAAAAAA
Might be the worst take on West Virginia I’ve seen yet.. I would recommend doing your homework first before putting something like that out. Just my opinion. I agree with just about everything else but WVU has about 70% of their starters returning while bringing in some really good transfers to fell in the few players they lost. Most of their tough games are at home
I was interest to hear what you had to say about my school. All of the sudden KU is on the board and you’re taking KState. I guess you edited it out.
shoot if that is the case than I am sorry, was not intended, I’ll make a video for Kansas if that would be of interest
You are wrong WVU will win the conference.
Aye man it would not shock me cause this conference is a wild card
Don’t think they win the conference, but they are definitely underestimated. One of the games I fear the most on UCF’s schedule.
There were 4 running backs nationally that went for 1400+ yards last season. UCF now has TWO of them in RJ Harvey and Penny Boone. . . If their defense improves this season, this team is going to hurt folks
Ha this guy
?
