As a chinese person, I play geoguessr and am going back to China this summer, and I hope to play geoguessr there. Grateful that they could make a community there.
i'm from china, and I now live in the US. I can tell you that the chinese community has been working really hard for the game, and basically the whole plonk it website has been translated. Also, we have baidu street view which covers china, so we have actual china rounds, and the community has also made metas for china rounds just like plonk it.

It is a road that leads you deep into the rainforest of el yunque, there is a tower there and a trail that leads you further in on foot that eventually ends at a waterfall, very beautiful place. The building is actually a souvenir stop.

I’m 1369 elo in GeoGuessr (my name is Program) but when I tried to play GeoGuessr there it was blocked, now when I go back I have a way to play my favourite game while in the country!
Yeah, there seem to be more GeoGuessr alternatives. Like there is GeoTastic, I think developed by a single German guy. It's freemium, meaning a lot of it is free, but certain features aren't. And you can donate. He makes less than the Google API costs, though. :/

just an american who studies china here, but the reason thinks like google maps or search are blocked in china is because they refuse to follow chinese law, specifically they protest the censorship required by chinese internet law. Streetview is not a search tool or a tool that can be edited or show any like user generated content so that may be why this data is allowed to pass through when something like maps is not.
