  • Kyle still has giant monsters on the brain and so as an addendum to last week’s episode, he discusses some of his very favorites in the genre. Godzilla, sure, but also Gamera, Daimajin, Cloverfield, and more!

Also, I think you do have to give credit to The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms because without it, we probably wouldn’t have gotten Gojira

My local UHF stations played a lot of these Japanese monster films as I grew up. I was glad to hear that I had actually gotten to watch nearly all the Godzilla movies you listed off from the early man in suit era. A real shame about your motion sickness, totally unfair that a cinephile such as yourself has to tap out on the vertigo inducing shots from some of these films. I do appreciate having a guest-free intimate talk about your subjects of interest. Thanks, Kyle!

If you can find it, I also recommend the Japanese version of Godzilla (Gojira) 1954.
I fell in love with Kaiju watching old movies like "Them", "King Kong", "It Came From Beneath The Sea", "The Crawling Eye" (A big favorite - Zombies, Giant Aliens, Janet Munro!), The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, and "20 Million Miles To Earth.
I "discovered" and became a fan of Godzilla first by rushing home from school (in the 60s) and watching "Ultraman" on Japanese Language TV out of San Francisco (UHF) (I was the child of an Aussie and a Canadian, and spoke no Japanese, but…). (Note a modified Godzilla costume was on Ultraman as "Jirahs".)
To me there are two types of Godzilla movies: (Both which I Really like.) The good ones, with Godzilla as a man created mutation, response of nature (Godzilla (1954), Shin Godzilla (2016), and Godzilla Minus One (2023). And the fun ones with Godzilla, and other Giant monsters from ancient times (all the rest of the Toho and related movies)
As always thank you so very much for the videos..

Imagine if you worked on a video for a channel with over 2 million subscribers and it received less than 5 thousand views.

The best thing about Night of the Lepus is that the cast are all actually bringing their A-game, and the acting is great. But the effects are HORRIBLE. Like, the hilarity is that all the effects are just done TERRIBLY.
