They allied Germany and helped invade Poland. they invaded Finland, stole land from Romania, stole the Baltics, and only survived thanks to American lend lease. Definitely not the Russian army, and probably not the Soviet army. They allied Germany and helped invade Poland. they invaded Finland, stole land from Romania, stole the Baltics, and only survived thanks to American lend lease.
Don't get me wrong I'm thankful the Germans invaded the soviets to give them a reason to actually fight evil, but they were never in the right. They would have let the free world be taken over if they weren't attacked.

The west reluctantly opened the western front because the Nazis were already kicked out of USSR and the fight was happening in Eastern Europe. And also, many Nazi leaders were reluctant to fight US army troops as only the inexperienced noobs and old veterans were stationed in Normandy, while the young and healthy SS army soldiers were fighting Soviets in eastern front. Without the west's support, victory over Nazi Germany would have come 4 or 5 months later for the Soviets. The west had no option but to enter the battle at the last minute to take part in the victory. Even Japan surrendered only to Soviet Union's invasion. Soviet army would have captured Tokyo in a week, while the unwanted bombings of Hiro and Nagasaki were dropped to let the Soviets know the kind of deadly weapon that US has.
