    Love the statement: "Clutter is nothing more than postponed decisions." I never heard that before. I'm copying it to my notebook to remind myself. Re-home, great term!

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  11 месяцев назад +1

      I have found ( since I found that quote) that it is easier to deal with the clutter.....I dont postpone the decisions anymore...I act in the moment...deal with it....I don't put off the decision anymore....Mindset is everything.K

    • @PCHPatti
      @PCHPatti 11 месяцев назад +1

      Your quote has fueled my efforts. I'm dealing with an avalanche of clutter in a studio I haven't used for a few years (been writing a book and blog). So I decided I needed some breathing room first, the "stuff" was overwhelming. To start I'm NOT sorting individual items but removing the clutter to big boxes and moving them out of the room. (I'm also using donate and trash boxes.) Next, I'll clean the table tops and tidy the current shelves. Then, only then, I'll sort through the boxes before bringing anything back in to the studio. Wish me luck, LOL.@@KarenBurchill

      I am lucky that I NOW have a dedicated art space, but I didnt always. The thing to do is look at what you do have and make it work as best you can with whatever limitations you may have....We humans tend to focus on what we dont have or the problems and that gets in the way of solving our issues and improving things. An excellent vid on organizing one's art/craft area. Dollar Tree containers are a tremendous value especially when compared to ones at the Container Store. One does not need the most sturdy ones for our purposes. I use Elfa storage units, chrome baker shelves and Ikea like carts mostly. Thank you for making this vid.

    Thank you, Karen! Im in the midst of the utter craziness of reorganizing, you gave me lot of ideas, took even notes. Im so done with “I know I have it, but where..” and buying multiples, because I forgot I already had something (I bought the same book 3 times!). I definitely need a serious purge and those hanging files, I got so much paper its ridiculous. Use it or lose it section is already building in my head. And Ill be firing up my p-touch, thats for sure; while I watched you, I ordered more tape for it. Im on my way. I just need for husband to drill my floating shelves up and I can start filling the room. Yes! I suddenly feel much more optimistic about this.

    Hi from Italy! Houses are tiny and there are no extra rooms for crafting, so I am stealing some space here and there in the living room-kitchen (a single room fits the two purposes, and it's also hallway and tv room), or in the remaining rooms that are the two (small) bedrooms. I'd like to have all my stuff in one place, but it's a dream!! That's why your tips are even more valuables, because I also need something easy to grab, put in a bag and take in the room that it's not already used by someone else of the family. No, carts are not a good idea, neighbours downstairs will complain for the noise of the wheels!! Can you make a video for a studio that is always moving? What accessories and containers are ideal?

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  Год назад +1

      I have some carts and Rubbermaid drawered containers on wheels which I can move around. I even have a case like a suitcase on wheels that my grandkids gave me so I could bring art supplies with me when I visit them, but I use it mostly as more storage as it has sections for pens and bruised as well as papers etc. I just move the carts in and out of closets and corners. I wish I could show pictures here. I found my carts in Amazon.

    Nicely done, and appreciate your organizational systems and mantras! Also, having your finished artwork out is great. Question: Do you only have a few units of each napkin or special papers? I have full packages of some napkin designs or papers. Hmm, I suppose I could just keep the remainder of the package in my napkin box, and make a note on the page protector. Idea: You might want to paint or do some mixed media on the large tan freestanding closet. (Yes a major project). It would be fun do have a tour/flip of some of your mixed media artwork that we saw glimpses of, doing the tour.

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  Год назад

      Yes typically I only have 2 of each napkin. Your idea for marking the page protector is a good one to keep track of full packs. I plan on painting the large closet but not really doing art work on it..although you made me think . Thanks for the suggestion. K
